In my old world being poor was something that was looked down upon. It was
The equivalent of being homeless. Needless to say Because of this I faced
Many hardships in my childhood. During those times I felt powerless and
Hated myself for it.
It wasn’t until I was around nine that I gain a form of power. After being
Beaten by a bunch of supercilious kids I was approached by an old man. He
Had asked me if I had wished for strength.
At the time lying down on the ground with my face in the dirt I wanted
Nothing more then to never feel weak again. I would have gladly taken
Any hand that was outstretched towards me. Even if it was the hand of
The devil himself.
After leaving the the castle I wondered around the city. There were many stores
Selling equipment like swords and armor. I can already guess what type of world
I’m in. The thing that interests me the most from sight seeing is the book store.
I tried seeing if there was a library in this world. But couldn’t find any. Just
Like my old world a library is something that doesn’t exist or no longer exists.
I keep wondering aimlessly until I passed an alleyway between Jun Yang Bakery
And Jakobu tailoring.
“Hey there young man you seem lost”
A tired old voice reminding me of an old man I once knew in my old world.
“Ahh. No I’m just sight seeing you see.”
The old man shakes his head. He turns to face me from his sitting position.
“Sorry maybe I was to vague. As you can see I’m very old. I have seen many things.
And I have experience many things. Let me tell you something young man.I once met
a child during my travels. This child at the time was summoned by the God.”
“Yes… he was a hero. The youngest to ever have been summoned at the age of eight.”
I got worried for a second thinking that maybe this old man had found out who I was.
“I became his fellow comrade. As I spent time with him during our adventures I came
To realize that he was never truly happy.”
It appears that he still doesn’t know who I am. So those guys and me aren’t the only
Ones to have been summoned.
“He was dwelling in the past. He never told me what it was that haunted him. He was
like a caged bird. But his cage was himself.”
I feel as though I can relate to this hero. Maybe if I listen to this hero’s tale I
May be able to find purpose in life.
“Then one day that bird broke out of its cage. It was the first time I saw that child
now turned man smile. And it was all thanks to a young women he met when he first
Visited the monastery. She achieved what nobody else could. She manged to reach his
Heart. The hero that once doweled in the past now lived in the present. Do you know
Why I called out to you young man.”
“No.”
I shake my head.
“It’s because you have the same eyes he once had. Eyes that have seen and experience
Things no one so young should. I wont pried into your your past young man. But if you
Continue to dwell in the past, life will past you by.”
I close my eyes and memories of my past flash by. Theres no way I can just forget.
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
“So your telling me to just forget.”
“No. What I’m telling you is to accept your past and begin moving forward .”
“How? How do you just accept your past.”
“Thats something that you have find out for yourself. But ill give you a hint. Love.”
“Love?”
That foreign word that holds little meaning to me.
“Yes. Love is a powerful thing and its what will help you unlock what you have closed off.”
“Love huh? So How do yo feel it or find it.”
“Hahah. That is something I can not tell you young man.”
I frown. Is he making fun of me?
“I can not tell you because it is something thats different from person to person.”
I catch the pendant he throws at me. Its of a women with angel wings embracing a heart
Protectively.
“Are you giving this to me?”
I want to confirm if hes giving me this or if its supposed to mean something.
“Yes.”
“Why are you giving this to mean? If you sell this you’ll probably get a hefty sum?”
“I have no need for money. I feel like you’ll have more use for it then me.”
“I’m sorry but I can not take this.”
“Humor this old man and just take it. It’ll be of great use to you in your journey.”
I reluctantly agree to take it and thank him.
“Good luck young man.”
I thank the old man one more time before leaving. Wait. I didn’t even get his name.
Strange he didn’t even ask me more mines. I walk back to were I met him. It was empty.
I hadn’t even walked that far so he should have at least been within sight distance.
But as I look around theres no one that fits his description.
I scratch my head in Confusion before shrugging and continuing on my way. Its sunset by
The time I pass a huge building. The huge building has a shield, with two swords crossing
Each other, engulfed in flames.
“Please! We must fortify our defenses and prepare a counter attack force.”
“Stop talking nonsense girl. Don’t think just because your an elf you can
Make up such blatant lies.”
“B-but I’m not lying!. There really is a dragon headed this way.”
“I keep telling you that dragons are only a myth now. Even If we believe what
What you say, theres no need to worry because earlier today the heroes were
Summoned.”
“But even so we should still prepare. Dragons are one of the ultimate existence.
If we fight one without a proper plan many lives will be lost.”
I continue to listen to this delusional girl trying to convince the two knights,
Dragging her out of the huge building, to prepare to fight a dragon.
Drugs sure are bad for you even in another world. I turn my head and look at
The reader. Don’t do drugs kids.
After dragging the girl out the knights go back inside the building. No use
Getting involved with the crazy elf girl. I continue on my way looking for a
Place to spend the night.
It was at that exact time that the elf girl made A dash towards me. I had expected
For us to crash into each other. But what happened puzzled me to no end. Though it
Did explain all the oddities since my arrival.
