Chapter 1: Life Before Regression

Chapter 1: Life Before Regression

“Where am I? Did I die…?”

My mind spun in a haze of confusion, each thought a sharp pang echoing through my battered body. The mere idea of moving my fingers sent waves of agony crashing over me.

For seven long days, I was trapped in a world of muffled voices and fleeting consciousness. It wasn't until the seventh day that I managed to muster the strength to form words.

“Husband, you’re finally awake? Thank God, I was worried sick for you!” A voice, gentle yet laden with emotion, whispered beside me, a constant presence throughout my ordeal for the past week..

But beneath the voice of relief and happiness in her tone, there was a hint of something else—a shadow of sorrow, choked with emotions.

Slowly, I blinked my eyes open, greeted by the soft caress of a breeze drifting in through the open window. As my blurry vision cleared, a woman's face came into focus, tears glistening in her eyes as she gazed at me with eyes that were full of love, making my heart feel a burst of warmth that I never felt before in my life.

Or so I thought. But deep down, I knew better. What I mistook for warmth in my heart was nothing more than the stirring of my lust, raw and undeniable.

“Husband,” her voice quivered with fear, her hands trembling as she reached out to touch my face. “You scared me so much,” she whispered, tears streaming down her cheeks.

“Wife???”

I gazed at her face, a mix of familiarity and strangeness. She couldn't have been much older, her beauty striking even amidst the weariness etched beneath her eyes.

But despite her youthful appearance, I knew deep down that I had never laid eyes on her before. Her attire was a stark departure from the world I knew.

It could be more accurate to describe it as clothes ripped from the pages of a fantasy game I used to play.

During the past week, I have realized from their dialogues that I had died and possessed the body of someone.

As the truth began to dawn on me, a single thought echoed through my mind: There's no way she could be my wife, right? Right?

Right?? I kept on repeating since I still couldn't accept the reality laid out before me and instead believed that someone was playing a stupid prank on me.

“Husband, don’t scare your wife anymore! Even if you want to engage with the Starfrost family, I would not disagree anymore!” Her voice, tinged with alarm, cut through the haze of my thoughts, her hands clenched in a gesture of pleading.

At that moment, an Elderly figure appeared beside her, weariness etched into every line of his face.

He examined me for a few minutes and said, “Madam Margaret; Lord Noah suffered a severe blow to the back of his head when he fought against the Twin Winged Python, so he may need to rest a bit to recover his memories,” his voice heavy with concern, before walking out of the room.

Margaret reluctantly nodded her head and followed the elderly man out of the room, who was the only Rank Two Alchemist of the Vanderlux family.

I heard the elderly man advising the woman softly in the distance, “Mrs. Margaret, the fact that the Lord managed to return with his life is already lucky. So now you need to take care of the family affairs before the other Elders take this opportunity to depose the Lord again.”

Margaret nodded with a calm face and asked, “Master Alchemist’s meaning is that my husband will…”

The elderly man, who had been called an Alchemist, sighed, “Lord Noah's brain received a huge shock. So there is a possibility of permanently losing the memories...”

There was a brief moment of silence...

*******

Meanwhile hearing those words, I was at least thankful that there was less risk of them finding anything odd about my behavior.

But amidst the turmoil of my thoughts, I felt severe pain throughout my body. Especially at the back of my head, which was bursting with swollen, aching pain.

And all these confusing memories, where did they come from?

‘I have memories of a shut-in otaku whose whole life was spent playing games in a modern world..., but at the same time, I remember the memories of the Lord of the Vanderlux family who was almost a licking dog for the Eldest daughter of the Starfrost family?’

My mind was full of endless questions, especially at the licking part, which made me nauseated, especially after having a beautiful wife who only cared for him.

Whatever, it doesn’t matter. The most important thing is that I’m still alive.

What I need to do right now is to let myself recover as quickly as possible.

From the memories I got to know many things and also the cultivation level of the previous Noah who only reached the Foundation Establishment 6th stage at the age of 28, which is a disgrace for being the Lord of the Vanderlux family.

Other Family Lords of the same age as Noah in the City already reached the Golden Core Realm in their Cultivation.

The only reason the previous body was still the Lord of the Family without any opposition from the Elder council was due to his formidable wife Margaret, who had already reached Golden Core Middle stage at the young age of 25 years and was only one step away from reaching Late stage.

If it was due to inefficient talent, then no one could blame him. But even after having a Spirit bone aptitude of Earth Rank Top grade, same as his wife. This asshole was still in the Foundation Establishment realm and was only focused on pleasing the Eldest daughter of the Star Frost Family.

Due to this, no one respects him in the entire household, which can be seen when no one visits the Lord of the Family even after going through such a serious accident. Some of them may even be praying for him to die early.

I sighed at my situation. I don't know whether I should feel elated at the prospect of this newfound power or sad after getting all the memories of this body.

After a few minutes of organizing my thoughts, I used my divine sense which can be used after breaking through the Foundation Establishment realm to examine the insides of my body.

Soon I uncovered a shimmering Silver Spirit bone nestled within my spine. It serves as the foundation for all cultivators and without a Spirit bone, there was no way to sense heaven and earth’s spiritual energy, let alone absorb it for cultivating.

It was something that people were born with and cannot be transferred to others and determined the future potential of an individual.

Yes! This world was just like a fantasy world where Cultivation is possible and the higher your Cultivation, the more powerful you are.

Here the Strong cultivators possess abilities beyond comprehension—they can shatter mountains with a mere gesture, manipulate the very elements of nature, and wield magic capable of decimating armies.

Lost in contemplation, I was abruptly interrupted by the soft creak of the door. And a pretty woman in a maid's uniform walked in.

“Lord, it’s time to take some medicine.”

“Medicine? What medicine is it?” I asked, using my nose to sniff slightly at the bubbling blue liquid which made my lips twitch.

“This is something Mr. Matthew; the chief Alchemist made using the Rank Two healing ingredients,” replied Anna, not even a bit startled at my behavior.

Looking at the bowl containing the healing potion, my face became a bit strange. After staring at that for a few seconds; I spoke in a hesitant tone.

“ Is it really edible?? “ I inquired, eyeing the blue liquid warily.

"Of course, my Lord," Anna replied, her voice steady but her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her dress. Her gaze flickered away from mine, darting to the floor before meeting my eyes again, a hint of doubt lingering in their depths.

Despite her words, her hesitant demeanor betrayed her uncertainty, leaving me unsure if even she believed what she said.

Still, I decided to trust the Alchemist since he was a trusted confidant of the Past Family Lord and had been working for the past eighty years.

But I was sure that I wouldn't be able to swallow that liquid with my own hands, not with its strange odor and unsettling appearance.

So I thought of asking the pretty maid to feed me with a spoon.

"Could you feed me...?" I asked, my tone hesitant but before I could complete my sentence, Anna replied eagerly

"Yes, my lord," though her voice betrayed a hint of uncertainty which made me confused.

But what happened next made my mind blank for a second and made me realize the reason for her uncertainty.

She bypassed the spoon entirely, opting instead to drink the potion herself before leaning in to kiss me. It was a gesture laden with familiarity as if she was used to it.

I was stunned for a second and was about to protest but the flowing liquid in my mouth made me unable to do anything.

The taste of the medicine was disgusting as hell, but with Anna's passionate kiss and her tongue that was licking and sucking me; the disgusting potion didn't feel so bad.

She slowly licked the liquid from the edges of my mouth, our tongues twisted and turned with each other while our mouths were filled with the medicine.

As a few seconds passed, I noticed that my lower part was standing erect, Anna's breathing had become ragged, and her eyes were glazed over.

"Ahh..." At this moment I regained my sanity of mind and pushed her away before I lost my last sense of reasoning.

She looked a little confused at my behavior, but when she looked down at my erect member, her eyes became moist.

"My lord, perhaps I could assist you," she suggested tentatively, her voice barely above a whisper.

" No, thanks," I replied in a frosty tone, which made Anna's shoulders tense up as if a shiver ran through her entire body.

Her eyes widened in fear, and she took a step back as if my words had struck her like a physical blow.

" Yes, my lord, I will be back when you need my services" Anna replied hastily, as she exited the room.

******

"Haaah...."

After a good half hour, my boner finally calmed down and I could finally move again.

I totally forgot the ambiguous relationship between past Noah and his personal Maid, my eyes closed in drowsiness.

.....

After the next three days of continuous rest and healing, I finally felt the tight grip of pain loosen its hold on my body.

As I carefully stretched my limbs, the sharp ache that once plagued me had dulled to a manageable throb, a sign that my body was slowly regaining its past strength.

With each passing day, my body healed at a rapid speed with a growing sense of vitality and renewal.

Over the course of these three days, Anna came to feed the medicine again but this time I sternly instructed her to feed me with a spoon.

I slowly lifted my body from the bed and started walking towards the nearby mirror hanging on the wall painted in white.

As I looked into the mirror, I saw a handsome man with bright blue eyes that seemed to contain the wisdom of all the world.

That's what I thought but on closer look, it's just blue eyes with nothing special.
