In a world that it’s inhabitants call Gogam, one of the many worlds in the vast multiverse, magic is more well spread than on Earth. In the continent of Gilladelphia, there exists a tower that is said to reach the Celestial Plane where the Gods that manage Gogam are said to reside. People call it, the Tower of Gods.
What is not known to the masses, however, is that the Tower not only connects their beloved world with the Celestial Plane, but also with the Plane of what mortal man calls Purgatory existing beneath their feet. Indeed, for Gogam is, unlike Earth, a flat, cuboidal world, with definite borders as well. And the edges of the world, as they are called, are obscured in strange, untrodden fog, fog which once entered cannot be left.
And one more thing that the masses are not aware of, is the existence of the Overseer, the Demi-God being who maintains the World’s Order and Balance, and keeps the Celestial Gods and Demonic Gods aware of the World’s happenings.
And three minutes ago, this very Overseer was startled to find Gogam being invaded by a seemingly powerful yet untraceable being.
(What is this? The borders of space and time have been ripped apart....yet I cannot even find where it’s perpetrator has gone. No, this is bad, whoever it is, if they belong to the Abyss, Gogam might very well be in jeopardy. No, no, I have to inform the Celestials. And then the Demonic Gods as well, the Celestial will take care of the shattered space time, but whatever came in from the he outside, only the Demonic Gods can fight it....to think I can’t even trace it....)
The Overseer was alarmed, shocked beyond belief, when the walls of Space and time were shattered in but a moment’s notice. One moment, he was sorting through the reports of increasing emergence of Dungeons, the way of invasion of those damnable monsters of the Abyss, yet the next, he had almost choked himself, as an astonishingly powerful wave of mana surged through the barrier of the dimension, and yet had in but an instant disappeared without a trace.
‘No. This won’t do. I’ll have to move myself. I can’t rely on mortals when even I couldn’t trace whoever it was, whatever it was that came in.’
Without a moment’s hesitation, the Overseer vanished from the tower, ready to scourge the whole of Gogam if need be.

’....I made it....good god....I made it....just in time....’
Taking deep breaths, Zenith inspects his body, finding himself to have changed completely. What was once old, wrinkled skin, was now soft, unblemished and fair, to the point where he looked not unlike a teenager. His height remained at 1.87m, while the callouses on his hands, and the small yet distinguishable cuts on his fingers all but disappeared. Not a piece of cloth remained on his body that was rippled with muscles, completely different from his previous situation which made him seem to have one step on the grave.
’I see....so my body didn’t make it, huh? This....is how I looked when I was sixteen, if I recall well. I remember that was when I first set my body for the Recollection spell. I didn’t bother with it later since I never lost arms or legs again during experiments.’
The Recollection spell is a spell that worked by literally recreating the caster’s body. As long as the parameters of a body are set initially, even if one was to lose, say, an arm, in but mere minutes after casting the spell, they would get back their arm, and in the same state as it was when the parameters have been set. There is, of course, a disadvantage to this spell. And it is quite the disadvantage too. Regardless of how much mana or muscle one might have built up during the course of time after setting the parameters, all of that would be lost entirely. Not to mention, one cannot simply regenerate a single arm and be done with it. The cells in the human body are in constant movement and reproduction. And if one only chooses to regenerate a part of their body, it would be in disorder with the rest of their body. The cells might even be placed one within the other, causing a sudden collapse in organs. Best case, one would be unable to use the regenerated part of their body for several weeks. Worst case, their entire cellular structure would collapse, causing a phenomenon that would be likened to ageing, yet at an unbelievably fast rate. In just seconds, one might turn from a teenager to a fragile and brittle boned and wrinkled skinned ninety year old, and did from several organ and system failures.
And it is for this reason that Zenith never used this spell more than twice in his long, long life. In fact, the only times he used them was once when he initially learned the spell, and once when, in an experiment, he ended up blowing a third of his body. That incident caused years of hard work to go down the drain, not that age actually mattered to those that are capable of using the Recollection spell. After all, even lifespan is reset when the spell is used. There are, or rather used to be, other Sorcerers and Spell Casters that made it a habit to either update their biometric parameters every day, or simply maintain several profiles of parameters, though Zenith chose to instead focus on other, productive spells.
’So I’m sixteen years old....and by the looks of it, I’m not even one Earth anymore....I knew other worlds and even parallel times limes existed, but still, to think I would one day end up being thrown to another world instead of opening a portal and travelling by choice....’
There is, however, one more, and far greater consequence of using the Recollection Spell. Other than memories themselves, everything else, from the body to the mind to mana, will be reset back to the initially set parameters. And this includes one’s personality as well. Take for example, the Zenith of old. On the day of the incident, which had actually happened several days ago, Zenith was working on ways to extend the lifespan of an ordinary human being. Or perhaps it would more accurate to say, he was trying to infuse a living human with mana, and then convert that mana into life force, forcefully extending their life span. The result had been, contradictory, to say the least.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
In a word, what Zenith had been doing was simple human experimentation, something that was seen as a moral mistake. And indeed, there was even a time when he had not hesitated to wipe out entire villages and remote towns, imitating horrible natural calamities, just so he could get a hold of more test subjects. Yet as he grew older, his nature changed to be more, subtle. And moments before the experiment went wrong, he was even wondering what he would do while waiting for the next shipment of death row fugitives.
In his teens, however, Zenith was what one might call a hot blooded youth. A justice craving, thrill seeking, hot blooded youth with more than necessary libido. In fact, there was even a time when he ended up thwarting a terrorist attack on US soil and another in Iraq, the consequence being more than just an earful from his late grandfather, Earth’s second last Spell Caster.
And that is one of the Recollection spell’s most dangerous aspect, the fact that despite having memories of having lived with a near entirely changed personality, the mind and the thoughts would change to suit the personality the caster had when the parameters had been set. In simple terms, Zenith is now a bonafide 16 year old in terms of age, personality, and is even an adventurous and thrill seeking dick driven youth with a near insatiable amount of lust, and yet within him are memories and experiences of great immorality, carnage, cruelty, gore, and later his changes to more subtle cruelty, to slight increase in morals, to finally turning into the man he was before the Shift.
In terms that even those ignorant of psychology and spellcraft can understand, Zenith now has three exceedingly distinct personalities within his mind, that of a simple sixteen year old youth led by his lust, that of an exceptionally cruel and ice hearted being that wouldn’t blink while slaughtering entire towns and cities, and that of a slightly less cruel yet equally cold, calm, calculating, and wise researcher whose only desire is to seek and enrich his already exceptional wealth of knowledge.
Long story short, whenever someone uses the Recollection spell after a long period of time, they would end up having to suffer from split personality disorder for the rest of their lives, or at the very least until they use some other mental interference spell to modify their memories and their brain manually.
‘Now then….where exactly am I?’

‘What….who?’
Zenith instantly regains his calm, as he widens his currently small range of perception and methodically inspects his surroundings. Yet all he sees is the inside of a seemingly endless and dark cave, both in front of him as well as behind him. He was clear, however, that the voice he had heard moments ago was not in any way a product of his imagination, or a minor hallucination caused by the Shift spell. After all, the Shift spell was, in the end, a mere spatial distortion spell that quite literally shifts the caster and a part of his surroundings to another place, and would in no way affect the caster’s psyche.

‘Wha-!? Crap!”
The next moment, a surge of data and information, in an all too familiar manner, rushes into Zenith’s mind, almost making him collapse from the sudden infusion. Yet he held his ground, barely, as he was quite accustomed to direct mental transfer of data. Indeed, most of the so-called inheritances, that had long since gone extinct on Earth, had been such crude methods of piercing a metaphorical syringe of data into one’s brain and, with but a moment of notice, plunge it in directly into the memory region of the brain, and leave it to be forever imprinted within the brain.
*gasp* *huff* *huff* *huff*
As the transfer ends, Zenith gasps for breath, his face pale of blood, as his mind works overdrive to absorb and comprehend all that was within the surge of data. As he takes in breath after deep breath, he couldn’t help but exclaim in his mind of how efficient this method of infusion was as compared to the more humane and less painful version that Earth’s Spell Casters had developed.
And within the copious amount of data, he found answers to many of his questions, much to his astonishment.
