“Shit shit shit shit!”
Rodent twirled around in this free, open space, caught in a beam that blasted him toward something unknown. Space was around him—but it was like nothing he had seen in photos or when he looked at the sky at night.
There was colour and magic around them, vast swirls of unknown substances that twinkled with universes within them. It was a strange, strange place that was both vast though narrow, large though small, complex, and paradoxically—hurting the man’s mind.
He breathed, trying to exhale his confusion or doubt until another thing twinkled right in front of him… the white glint of his floating wedding ring. His eyes flared as he stretched out after it, swimming in the air and swiping at the metal that was particles away from his swiping fingers.

“C’mon… C’MOOOOON!” Rodent bore his teeth and growled while hunting for the item, the amazing space around him non-existent. Nothing, not even his ability to somehow breathe, affected him. “I’M NOT LOSING YOU! NOT AGAIN!”
Again and again, he swiped at the ring as the current dropped, curved right, and swirled across a white-and-gold cloud that he was slowly winding inside of. It blinded Rodent, but he didn’t care; he pushed against the force pressing against him—reaching, with closed eyes, after the ring.
“PLEASE!”
And just like that, there was a blinding, white-and-golden light, winds blowing and water splashing, the sounds of a world coming through a narrowing space. Rodent breathed and braced himself as liquid manifested around him, taking him within as, without thinking, he started to swim to gain those few extra inches.
And with his final, blind swipe, something made contact with his free hand—just as he was pushed to a new world.
