Liz, a journey beyond this world
Chapter 1: Weider and weider.

Chapter 1: Weider and weider.

This time reincarnation was much more painful than usual. Instead of resting in a comfy womb and suffering a bit during the delivery, Liz felt how all of her body was forming. Matter being created from nothingness, all thanks to her soul’s energy.

Liz tried to scream, but she couldn’t. Her throat was still being formed. It hurt. It hurt more than anything she ever felt before. It hurt even more than being torn apart by the black hole.

The painful process wasn’t short either. It felt like it took aeons just for a couple of flesh strings to form. All of them new to sensations, all of them crying at the touch of air. Eventually she could hear herself breathing. Not knowing if it was because her ears had just been formed, or if it was her lungs.

Later she could feel the light in her eyes, yet she was unable to process any of it. Finally all the pain stopped. Her body had finished forming. A wave of joy filled her soul when she realised she wasn’t going to suffer anymore, then she heard her least favourite word.

Notice:...

A cold shiver ran through her spine as her first coherent thoughts started to form. Please… She thought. Give me a rest.

The user's body has been successfully created.

Notice: You have successfully crossed between realities and adapted to your new system, several skills have been unlocked.

So I can see my status even alive in this… world? That's convenient. Status.

… She tried to process her status, full of concepts she didn’t fully understand. Yet, one thought filled her mind. I’m so… weak.

She remained silent, processing the words again and again, trying to make sense of them. If they aren’t usable and are decaying, why bother showing them?

Notice: Remnants will consume 1 unit of soul energy per 100 hours.

I guess I have enough time to think about it then. She smiled in her mind.

What does this weird name mean anyways?

Huh? The last line was strange. What do you mean my specie’s implications can't be understood by the local system???

Lovely. Anyways, what does “Eternal will” do and why is it blocked?

Notice: Eternal will passively increases the users total mental power and resistance (this effect is greatly reduced while blocked). Eternal will can also consume several levels to reincarnate after death (this effect is currently blocked)

At least I didn’t fully lost “persistent memories”. Though it sucks that it’s blocked. She confronted herself.

somewhat satisfied with the system answers she started focusing her attention on her surroundings. She was left silent when she tried to process what she saw. The sky was blue like it was in her world, but there were no stars or even a sun. Instead it was decorated with lines that drew different patterns, similar to magic circuits.

She was in a glade in the middle of what she assumed was a forest. Yet the trees were curvier, their wood was grey and their leaves were purple. Spikes sprouted everywhere, from the base of their logs to the point of the branches and red vines climbed through them, like some kind of snake.

The grass was dark blue, almost like the deep ocean. But it looked sharp, like it could pierce your skin if you tried to walk barefoot. The soil was grainy, like sand on a beach. Black sand though.

The weirdest thing was the blue and purple fire that burned almost in a circle around her. It wasn't hot, yet her instinct told her that touching it would certainly be a death sentence.

Finally, her gaze reached her body, and a mixture of fear and curiosity filled her face. Her skin was of a blueish green, filled with light blue lines that felt almost artificial, like if someone tried to carve a magic pattern on her.

Her fingers were slender and long, probably one and a half times what a normal human’s would look like. Her nails were sharp, almost claw-like and two concentric circles were carved in her palms, divided in perfect halves by one line that extended from her arms.

Surprisingly her arms weren’t long, they were slim, but not longer than what she used to have. Several straight lines covered her arms, they had little to no turns, and when they did, those felt artificial. three holes were aligned on each of her forearms, separated the same distance from each other.

Her chest was flat as a cardboard, she didn't even have nipples to begin with. The lines finally met each other at her heart, at least she believed it was her heart, yet it was on the left side of her body. One circle was centred on it, and all of the lines seemed to form from it.

She then realised that her ribcage was too small, she only had 18 ribs.

After touching her back she felt like her spine wasn't split in half at the height of her mana core. A cold shiver ran through her mind when she realised she didn’t have a core to begin with.

After some seconds she started touching her face slowly, fearful of what she could discover. Her neck and cheeks were more than slender, as if they lacked any kind of flesh. Her lips were normal, but one line split them in half. She then felt her nose, pointy and sticking out of her face several centimetres.

Her eyes were blue, and her pupils purple but any beauty that could be found in them was overshadowed by how deep the cavities they rested on were carved in her skull. Her ears were pointier than her nose, but their tip was covered by her shoulder length brown-purple hair.

She then looked at her legs, long and slim, carved by lines like the rest of her body. But it felt like something was off, and then she understood it. The bones on her feet weren’t bending like they were supposed to. Instead of walking like she usually did, she would be forced to walk like a beast, only with the front part and the toes.

Finally, she inspected her hips. Slim like the rest of her body, carved with artificial lines. But something was missing. There were no holes there, no extra appendage, nothing. It was like a doll, genderless.

She was there, lying down in the glade, processing her body, processing the place, processing her status, processing… She was in an unknown place, an unknown reality. Stripped of all her skills, of all her gear, of her magic. Her soul had been transformed, she didn't understand her skills, even her body was unrecognisable.

Why does God hate me this much? She thought. Of course she knew God didn’t hate her, he wasn’t even real to begin with. Yet she felt forsaken. Stranded in a place weirder than the inside of a black hole.

Eventually, she started moving again. She didn’t know how this world worked, she didn’t even know how her body worked. But she knew one thing, this place wasn’t going to be her tomb. She was Elisabeth the witch of time. The terror of the unworthy, her name was spoken with fear and reverence even generations after her first death.

And after that, she became something more. She was wiser than the wisest, stronger than the strongest. She was unbounded by the laws of the world. She was Liz, the one who entered a black hole and “lived” to tell the tale.

I was in the middle of a character development moment you stupid system.

Notice: sorry.

Whatever. She thought. I should try to cast some spells, but why do I feel like there isn’t mana in this world?
