CHAPTER 006 – WE NEED TO TALK

I have to take big leaps to keep up with her. She walks fast.

We go inside the mansion and she leads the way.

“Where are we going Abigail?” I ask her curiously.

“To go ask someone.” Abigail replies in her sweet voice and I could feel that she is rolling her eyes at me.

I cannot believe it. I will finally see someone from this mansion. I have been here for so many days and surprisingly I never saw anyone else except my master Zaif, Vicar and ofcourse my lovely Abigail.

“How many more people live here?” I ask Abigail curiously.

“Other than us. The Barcia family lives here.” Abigail replies sweetly.

“Oh! How many of them?” I ask curiously.

“There are 10 of them. But the 2 young ones are visiting elsewhere and are accompanied by 5 adults. They will be here any day now. You will like them. Since they are also young like us, they enjoy life.” Abigail replies sweetly.

Oh good! Finally I will have some company. It’s not like I don’t like Abigail’s company but it is very difficult to find her. After all this is the fifth day after I saw her for the first time.

Other than her I only talked to Vicar and, honestly, I am afraid of the guy. Maybe I just don’t know him that well.

As for my master, he just told me that he will begin my training after I am well-rested and relaxed. I don’t even know when he will consider me relaxed enough. Shouldn’t he have begun my training by now? And what on earth will I be trained in?

Abigail just opens a door which seems to be of someone’s room and was about to enter.

“Hey! Shouldn’t we knock first or ask permission?” I ask her. Wouldn’t the person mind if we just enter his room without knocking.

“You should, I don’t need to.” Abigail replies sweetly and fearlessly enters the room as if it belongs to her.

Now I am put in a weird spot. Should I knock or should I just enter. Abigail just entered so… I don’t need to declare my presence by knocking anymore. But the polite thing would be to knock, right?

Bah! We’ll see what happen! Let’s just enter.

I follow Abigail inside the room. If I compare this room to mine, it is not as much luxuriously decorated nor is it as much big. Nonetheless, it has everything and more that is needed.

Sitting inside the room is a beautiful brown haired and delicate feature lady who seem to be in her twenties. She looks like someone who is kind and caring. She is working on a shirt. She seems to be embroidering it.

Abigail walks up infront of her. The lady puts her embroidering aside to dote on Abigail. She clears Abigail’s clothes of the grass and corrects her attire.

“So what does my little Abby want?” The lady asks lovingly while grooming Abigail.

“I have told you this before Vira. Don’t call me that. Call me Queen.” Abigail says angrily yet sweetly.

I am left surprised as to how can everything Abigail says sound so sweet. Whether she is angry, indifferent or curt, she always sounds sweet.

As Abigail expressed her anger her hair and eyes changed its color once again from a dark shade of green to a dark shade of red

Vira pays no attention to Abigail’s little outburst nor does she show any shock or surprise when Abigail’s hair and eyes changed it color. She just smiles and while pinching Abigail’s cheek, she replies, “And I have told you that unless and until you get taller than me I will always call you little Abby. So it would be better if you deal with it sooner.”

I could not help but smile at this because eventhough Vira is sitting I can still tell that she is a tall woman and it might be hard to reach her height.

Seeing how Vira calls Abigail by her name, maybe I should also be doing that instead of humoring Abigail.

I look at Abigail who scrunches her nose and squints her eyes in apparent anger and bursts out at me, “I am taller than you so don’t even think of calling me anything other than Queen.”

Vira chuckles.

Even though Abigail does not look threatening at all, infact its quite the opposite however something tell me to not challenge her.

Vira starts brushing Abigail’s hair and says, “Stop tormenting the boy little Abby and tell me why you decided to pay me a visit after so long.”

“Vira, can you tell us if Zaif sleeps in the lib…” Abigail asks sweetly but was cutoff midsentence by Vira.

“You should say Ki…” Vira corrects Abigail while patting her cheek but apparently she was cutoff midsentence too.

“He told us not to call him that.” Abigail argues back sweetly while pouting.

“But still. Respect needs to be…” Vira insists while putting on clips on Abigail’s hair.

“Do you want to go against his wishes?” Abigail argues back again. Abigail shows no reaction to the grooming which tells me that she is used to such behavior.

“No. Right? So now tell us, does Zaif sleeps in the library when his eyes are closed?” Abigail asks impatiently.

When Vira hears the question a frown appears on her face. Then she looks at me and an expression of understanding dawns on her face. I could feel sympathy and pity in her eyes and also intrigue.

“No Ki…. Ahem! Zaif does not sleep.” The lady replies with a sigh as if giving up.

Abigail turns to me and says with a cute beaming smile, “See. I told you.”

“Are you sure? He seemed like he was sleeping.” I argue back. I did not want to lose.

“Yes I am sure. Ask anyone here and you will receive the same answer.” She replies me.

“See… now that settles it. I have won the bet.” Abigail says sweetly with a beaming smile and walks out of the room.

I run behind her and catch up to her. She is a really fast walker.

“I still refuse to give up so easily. I will ask others as well.” I say to her while being out of breath just by walking after her.

I am almost running to keep up with her.

“Do what you consider necessary.” She says in her sweet voice.

I will ask master himself if necessary.

We head back towards the back of the mansion and Abigail starts pouting.

“See… you made me miss him. Now who knows where and when I will find him.” Abigail says while pouting.

I open my mouth to reply her but somebody else spoke before me and made me jump from shock.

“Are you talking about me dear?” Says Vicar from right behind me.

“Ah! Daddy, it’s you. I told you not to sneak up on me like that.” Abigail says sweetly but clearly surprised.

She sighs and says, “Forget it. Where were you daddy?” Abigail asks in her sweet voice.

“The Barcia are coming tomorrow so I was in town for some task. Why do you ask? Did you miss me?” Vicar replies in a mushy voice.

It looks really weird to see such a powerfully built man make such weird faces and talk in a mushy voice.

“Oh! Rimira and Rimier are coming back. Finally somebody I can play with.” Abigail says sweetly and it hurt me. I was here all the time yet she didn’t bother to look for me.

Oh! Sweet love how your hurt me. But I forgive you.

“Dear. If you are planning to go to town. Don’t go yet. Zaif is there. You can go tomorrow.” Vicar says to Abigail, his voice no longer mushy.

“Ok Daddy. I’ll be going inside now.” Abigail replies and heads inside.

I follow her but am stopped midway as a hand grips my shoulder and Vicar says to me.

“We need to talk lad.”

I don’t know why but I gulped audibly.
