Chapter I - 2: A Rough Entrance.

Alice felt the wind whistle in her ears despite her helmet's filter. It was as if she was free-falling. Her eyes snapped open as she realised she actually was.

Focusing herself, she applied one of HGCO's landing strategies while utilising her suit to absorb the landing. The paint was barely scratched as she touched solid concrete ground.

Having safely reached the ground, she examined herself, Good, the ARS's system is perfectly operational. Bolter and knife are still here… Pistol's gone… No signal from Command either. Could be worse.

The airflow sensor in her suit informed her she was on a planet that was fairly similar to Earth.

That spherical thing that exploded on me must've been a displacement anomaly.

She looked around, surveying her surroundings. It was the afternoon, and she found herself in a town - one of her size.

It was honestly quite surprising. She was not used to seeing offices and houses solely built for Gigans. Furthermore, there were no tiny infrastructures; she found it strange but moved on.

Other than that, there was nothing particular to be seen except a few derelict buildings here and there.

However, up in the sky, was a Cruiser class white battleship with grey stripes that she could not identify. Burying the questions that were manifesting in her mind, she continued her exploration.

Turning a corner leading to a narrow road, she noticed three Gigans with nearly similar armour as hers, except theirs were pure white.

Alice thought, Their suits look light-weight, more so than mine. Hmmm… Likely from mass production. In any case, they appear to be regular Gigan soldiers on patrol.

Before she could approach them, she noticed bright red glowing orbs coming out from an abandoned house's window.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

One rose to a higher altitude and dove straight in the direction of one of the soldier's neck.

The Gigan, grabbing his throat in a futile attempt to stop the bleeding, choked on his blood, falling.

The remaining two Gigans, alerted, fired bolts of plasma at the now zig-zagging orbs.

Alarmed by the situation, Alice took out her rifle and drew closer to get a better shot.

Ahead, she saw the other Gigan kneeling in pain from what looked like a punctured knee joint. Nearly instantly, two orbs plunged and delivered a lethal cut to his nape.

An artery ruptured, blood spurted out as he dropped to the ground, lifeless.

Having a better view of the orbs, Alice realised orbs were humans with highly manoeuvrable jetpacks, wielding small plasma weaponry and energy swords. It was their gear's system that made them look like red fireflies from afar.

They must be the radical Humanist faction that the HGCO once warned us about! Damn terrorists already killed two servicemen too!

Tightly gripping her rifle, Alice aimed and fired a shot at a flying tiny. He attempted to dodge in panic but failed to do so. The plasma bolt, hot as it was, burnt and utterly decimated him before he could even react to the pain.

Witnessing the act, the humans' heart rate spiked. This was certainly contrasted by Alice's cold demeanour.

The flyers began to shoot at her with their guns even though Alice's helmet fully absorbed any damage, leaving only tiny unnoticeable scorch marks.

Dashing forward, she engaged in close-quarter combat with the tinies. Swapping out her rifle, she took out her knife.

The other tiny's evasive manoeuvres were unsuccessful as he was horizontally sliced in half. The blade easily cut him like a hot knife on butter.

In silent horror, he free-fell to the ground with a splat turning into a bloody mess.

By now, the other flying humans were horrified by the ruthlessness of Alice and seemed to have ordered a retreat.

Before they could all get away, Alice managed to snatch one with her hand.

"Surrender," her voice was cold as ice.

Ignoring her, the terrorist tried to retaliate. She writhed and repeatedly tried to stab Alice with her sword in vain. Subsequently, Gigan's fist clenched, turning the small woman into an unidentifiable gory mess.

She should've listened…

By then, the rest of the humans had already fled away to various cracks in the walls and abandoned houses.

Threat neutralised… Now…

All that remained after the fight was the stench of blood from the corpses. A burnt smell also lingered from the fried human on the ground. She shook off the gore off her hand and her knife.

The humans were still insurgents and the last one did refuse to give up… Still... That was... Regrettably rough…

"Hell of an entrance!" Alice heard. She turned around and faced the sole survivor. She looked impressed by what she had just seen.

The latter was leaning on a wall, a bit exhausted, "You have my thanks, for helping fend off the ambush, saving me, and avenging the death of my comrades."

She winced a bit, "M-Managed to take out one or two… then the battery system was punctured by these bastards… With the suit's mobility crippled and the visor's tracking rendered useless, I sure thought I was a goner there."

She took a deep breath and calmly introduced herself.

"Thanks again. I'm Mei Yin, Corporal. And who might you be, my dear saviour?"
