Ch 6.5 Maitunan Poetry. Noke's map

Chapter 6.5

Noke's map. Maitunan Poetry

After her first Maitunan Breakfast, Marta wandered inside the crashed spaceship while thinking of Noke's plan to steal the relic-powered inductor from the military base aircraft.

She was shocked to see how big the library was for a merchant ship. Although they were weird-looking, the Meitunan kind certainly loved reading. On a little table, she found two pieces of paper she had seen Noke handling before.

They have been reproduced below:

Untitled Ancient Maitunan Poem by Valerian Jofre*

If you hear me cry this evening,

Not so long, before I part,

Place your head on the soft pillow,

Weep, but join me not.

Fate bleeds through us, every second,

Grants us powers to disguise

What we make to be unmade,

What we see to be unseen.

There's no saying I'm not breaking,

There's no hope beyond my grief,

Only time can sort my sadness,

Only in truth whole I become.

For nothing made should be unmade

as we do, and we undo,

but still I am yet to find,

what can last beyond my mind.

*Valerian Jofre was a Maitunan Poet of the Late Pian Period (roughly 4000 rusalkan years before Calim and Noke), notable for his Kuotidian style of poetry, which was seen as a turn-away from more classical epic poetry about the past of Maituna Dreamin' and its heroes. The raw translation of this poem can still be understood as a lament for the habilities granted by nature and the planet to the Maitunans, who can decompose or disentangle everything they touch at will. So, while Maitunan epics praised the deeds and glories reached because of this power, Jofre moans sadly because nothing remains in his hands, nothing more than that which he can remember.
