Getting to the house was the easy part. Even getting inside was easy. It got tough when the party began.
Luna silently broke through the back door, which wasn't hard taking into account the poor choice of door, which was about an inch too small for its place. The first thing she noticed was the smell, the second she got inside, a strong wave of sweat and body odor blew through her nose, making her gag.
The room she stood in was small, maybe twelve feet across, with one rickety, old, slightly dusty bed, its pillow, and sheets long overdue for replacement or at least a washing. The windows were useless, covered in dirt and grime, and the other side was invisible. Everything hung sideways as if the furniture could smell the stench that choked out any breathable air.
Luna tried not to breathe as she made her way to the other door, the one that led into the rest of the house. To her relief, the bedroom seemed to be the worst of the place, so far. To the right was a small kitchen, move to the left and there was a strangely large living area, with - as far as this place went - nice couches and sofas. A woman smiled to herself as she cooked something over the stove. Luna had been picturing Robin's step-dad as an overweight, dirty, stinky middleaged man with pizza all around him and empty beer cans.
She wasn't even sure it was the step-dad who sat on one of the couches. He was muscular, and even sitting down, she could tell he was tall, with nicely done brown hair and sharp features. He was dressed nicely, with a button-up white shirt and jeans. Nothing about him seemed sweaty or dirty - maybe his soul - just cold. He had a permanent scowl on his face with narrowed, light blue eyes that stabbed anything they made contact with.
Strangely enough, the sight of him made her want to end him faster. Maybe it was the fact that he looked so nice and his wife didn't, with wispy brown hair, tainted with age and wrinkled eyes when she smiled, paired with an old, worn-out yellow dress that was much too big for her, completed with neon green crocs. Luna inwardly growled.
Then Robin walked in.
He looked uncomfortable, with his own button-up shirt, but it was baby blue, and a pair of nice jeans. He even wore a bowtie. Luna was bewildered. Where in the world did they get such nice clothes? And why did they live here if they could afford to dress so nicely!?
The step-dad immediately glared at Robin, who ignored him, walking over to his mom. From where Luna was, she could hear each side of the room. Robin talked quietly, careful not to let his step-dad hear.
"Do you need any help, mom?"
"No sweetie. You look very nice."
"Thanks, but this outfit is slowly killing me."
His mom smiled, her gentle eyes creasing at the edges. Robin didn't notice, glancing over at his step-dad, then around the room - looking for Luna.
"Why can't we just kick him out?"
His mother didn't say anything, just giving him a look that said, "Please don't ask about it. We've already discussed it." Robin exhaled through his nose. He took another look around the room - this time he saw Luna. Then the strangest, most unexplainable thing happened. She smiled at him. Here she was, a skilled assassin about to end this guy's step-dad, smiling at her client as if she was innocent.
Only at that moment did she wonder why they were dressed so nicely in the first place. Then the doorbell rang. Robin's mom set her pan on the counter, walking calmly over to the door and opened it.
"I'm so glad you're here! Welcome!"
She stood back, opening the door wider to let her guests in. That was when Luna realized she was at a party. Oh great. Robin, why didn't you warn me!? Eh, it doesn't matter. I've handled much worse than this. The thought poked at something else in her mind - in her memories - but she didn't know what, and didn't have the time to try and remember. Three men stepped through the door - not at the same time. One looked like the leader, dressed fancier than the other two, wearing something incredibly similar to Robin's step-dad.

His friends were both bulky, bowing their heads as they walked through the door to avoid getting a concussion. One of them had a once-white yellow tank-top, with a buzzed head, gold chain necklace - the whole motorcycle, cool uncle vibe, except he seemed more like the "bad guy" of the group. The other guy looked pretty similar, except that he had more hair.
The three of them took a seat on the couches near the step-dad.
As the minutes ticked by, more people arrived - more than Luna thought healthy to all be in the little house at the same time. Two of them surprised her the most, however. The first was a woman with blonde hair, twinkling grey eyes, and a muscular-ish build. She hugged Robin's mother the moment she got through the door. After a few more angry-looking men arrived, a lean man walked in. He had nicely combed and styled blonde hair and was wearing a suit. He had one brown eye, one blue, and wore the brightest smile Luna had seen yet.
The step-dad looked upset - to say the least - that he was there, but something told Luna he couldn't kick the guy out. The man smiled at Robin's mother, differently than he'd been smiling before. Something in his eye twinkled. Even for Luna, who had no idea who this guy was, the room seemed brighter already. But there was more to the story, she could tell by the way Robin's mother smiled and laughed, breathing heavily whenever she talked to the man, reminding Luna of a schoolgirl.
When everyone was in a conversation of some kind, Robin managed to sneak away for a moment, heading straight into the room Luna was hiding in. She waited until he shut the door to talk.
"You didn't say anything about a party!"
"I know, I know! I'm sorry! I don't know how I forgot, it happens every month. I guess I just got sorta wrapped up in your," he suddenly couldn't look her in the eyes, " . . . house."
Luna softened, relaxing her shoulders. "Whatever. I can still work with these people." She was scarily close to asking about the mysterious kind man before Robin spoke first.
"What do you need me to do?"
"You can't look like a suspect or even part of the scene, so just make sure you stay where any of these people can see you, preferably the more trustworthy ones. See if you can get your step-dad and uncle to come in here."
Robin nodded, completely on board even though he had no idea what she was thinking.
It didn't take long for Robin to corral Luna's targets into her desired place. She waited in the corner of the room, weapon ready. When the door shut, the action began. She lunged at the step-dad, determined to take him out first. Since neither of them saw it coming, her plan went much smoother. When she went for the step-dad, his brother accidentally stepped in the way, and she got him first, injecting him with the most subtle poison she had.
It took about two seconds before the man was limp on the ground. His brother was the harder target. Luna knew better than to just lunge for him, jumping out of his line of vision before going for him. To her complete surprise, he spun around, throwing her at the door, which shattered the moment she made contact. She'd had assumed it was the outside door, but judging on the way surprised grunts erupted all around her, she realized she was in the main part of the house.
Luna was on her feet in a flash, for the first time in years, unsure what to do. She only hesitated for a second, running at Robin's step-dad, who had just figured out his brother was dead. Luna slid to the floor, dodging his punch and injecting him in the ankle with her syringe-gun thingy.
He roared, whirling around to grab her. But Luna was the professional, and it was already too late. The man snarled, his nose wrinkling as he did. Luna only stared at him, thoughts racing through her head. Then his eyes rolled back and he collapsed onto the ground.
Silence choked the air for a moment, the entire house confused - except Luna and Robin, who just wanted to get as far away as possible.
"What-what just happened?"
"Are they dead?"
"Who was that? Is she still here?"
Luna was out of sight from the party, but she could see most of the people as plain as day. The only people who didn't look as stunned were the uncle's friends - the two motorcycle guys. To her surprise, again, everyone turned to Robin. He looked terrified, frozen to the spot.
"You did this," Luna hadn't seen who'd said it, but based on the deep, husky voice, she had a feeling it was one of the uncle's buddies.
"It's not true, is it Robin!? He couldn't possibly of caused this." Robin's mother seemed more like she was convincing herself than anyone else.
"Oh yeah? A random, weirdly dressed lady breaks through the door, kills Dean, and then disappears? Especially after how much he has complained about poor old Dean."
Luna wrinkled her nose. She knew better than to stay after a mission, but for some reason, she couldn't leave without knowing Robin was alright. Everything inside her screamed at her to get away, but she wouldn't.
Arguments broke out all throughout the house, more than half the room siding against Robin.
"He's gonna pay for what he's done!"
Luna tensed, jumping out of her place. The room was too stunned to react as she grabbed Robin's arm, pulling him out of the house behind her. His eyes were wide and he didn't speak, but Luna hoped he was relieved. It was too soon to tell. By the time they'd made it to her motorcycle, the house had realized what had happened and was declaring war. Luna shoved her helmet over Robin's head, helping onto her motorcycle before hopping on herself.
"Let's get out of here."
