After getting my shoulder reset and making sure it wasn’t broken, we all piled in a few transport vehicles that were engineered to be powered by the monster cores and can traverse the wide range of environments. We finally got to the farm and when we piled out there was Rob with a clipboard and Kelly was there besides him. I waved to her and she smiled back at me and waved.

“Now I will pair you up into groups…Group 1, James Frough, Kyle Sho, Stacy Klondel, and Hailee Seymore. Please group up and Kelly here will give you your assignment.”

Ofcourse I would get the loud mouth in my group… I sighed as I walked over to the 3 already near Kelly. “So looks like it’s us 4, Like Rob… I mean Master said, I’m James.”

Kyle just scoffed at me as he turned away but Stacy introduced herself in a shy voice and Hailee just smiled at me albeit a little awkwardly.

“Hey James, how ya been honey?” Kelly broke the silence that was festering between the group and patted me on the back.

“I’ve been alright Kelly, how bout you?” I looked at her face and her eyes were still a bit puffy and teary.

“About the same kiddo. But anyways, are you ready for your assignment? I’ve teamed up with Rob in order to give you all some training and also to get help around here.”

“Is the farm not doing good?” I asked urgently.

“No honey, it’s fine I’m doing good, and so are the Kwehs. Bjornson is a little down in the dumps but that’s to be expected. But it’s a big farm and there are always things that need to be done daily so it’s just nice to have help.”

I nodded with a smile before Hailee spoke up. “Um, I’m sorry but how do you two know each other?”

“Oh, my apologies, my name is Kelly Bower, and unfortunately I am the sole owner of Kweh farms. Jimmy here was with us for a bit before the Alpha Cutter wolves attacked. But enough about that, I will have you 4 go and feed the Kwehs and look after a few of the ones who were injured in the recent little attack we had.”

“The farm was attacked again?”

“Yes it was, but this time it was only a few of the little ones that normally attack around here. No Alphas this time hon, now off ya go so I can get to the others.” Kelly pointed us in the direction of the giant coop and I led the way.

“So this is where you were chosen?” Kyle asked.

“Yes it was, anything wrong with that?” I said defensively.

“Meh I guess any shithole is just as good for someone like you.”

Bam! I turned and swung as hard as I could and made sure the magic in me was focused solely in my fist.

He never expected it and was caught full force on his cheek and was sent slamming into the ground. He jumped up almost instantly with his shield at the ready and was about to charge at me.

“STOP! Just what the hell is going on here!” Rob yelled as he came stomping over.

“This lowborn piece of garbage struck me!” Kyle yelled as he took a step towards me. I pulled out my axe and knife and was ready to go.

“You forgot to mention that you called this place a shithole!” I yelled but Rob just shut me up.

“Teammates do not fight! We are also here as guests you idiots! I don’t give a rats ass if you hate each other but while you are here, you will do your jobs and be respectful of this place. If you cannot then I will throw you out of this department and I’ll send you through the fucking portal myself.”

“B-but that’s death for us Master!” Hailee said while shivering.

“Yes it is, so I suggest you don’t fuck up! Now get going!” He stomped back to the bus but not before he bowed to Kelly and apologized.

I looked at Kyle with anger but soon I put away my weapons as I held a hand up. “This way, The feeds over here. When we get to the coop, be respectful and nice in front of the rooster Kweh or he will hurt you.”

“Ha, like some overgrown chicken can harm me.”

I just laughed as we walked. If he was going to think like that then this was going to be hilarious. I picked up a bag of feed and the girls teamed up to pick one up, Kyle on the other hand didn’t want to touch the stinky greens so he didn’t even get close. I put down the feed next to the large door to the coop and opened it up and was met with a huge beak right in my face.

“Hi Bjornson, remember me?” This wasn’t anything new for me since this was a daily occurrence back then. Every time I’d open the coop doors, he would be right there ready to face whoever the intruder was.

“Kweh!” He squawked as he looked me up and down. Then he looked over at the other 3, his eyes narrowed and moved to stand taller and even spread his wings to show that they weren’t allowed.

“It’s fine Bjornson, Kelly said we can be here, they are my helpers for the day and what are you gonna tell your hens when they don’t get their food on time?”

He shot a look at me that had a bit of fear in them at the thought of the hens getting upset at him. He looked back at the others and squawked a warning at them before reluctantly lowering his wings and stepping to the side. I patted his side and picked the feed bag back up and waved to the others to follow.

“Now girls, take the left side just dump the whole bag in, it’s a huge trough so just make sure to spread it down the line.”

They nodded and got to work without complaint, I know they wanted to because lord knows how bad this damn feed stinks. But I was grateful I only had to deal with one dumbass today.

“Hey, when is this chicken going to quit hovering over me?” Kyle said as he stood at the doorway with Bjornson walking step for step beside him and never taking his eyes off of him.

“Maybe it’s because you call him a chicken? You ever seen a chicken with talons that sharp? Or how about the fact that with one kick it could decapitate you? That guy fought Alphas for crying out loud.” I just continued to sift the feed while speaking. Kyle just scoffed yet again as he mumbled something and started to walk away, I couldn’t really care any less and I know Bjornson trusted me to watch the girls as he left to follow Dipshit McGee.

After we finished I made sure that Stacy and Hailee were done and we left to go check in with Kelly.

“Hey Kelly, we’re done with feeding. Anything else for us?”

“Ah I knew you would do a good job Jimmy, but wait where’s your 4th?”

Stacy spoke up this time. “He took off after your rooster decided he wasn’t trustworthy to even set foot in the coop.”

“Ah that Bjornson, I swear the only men he let’s around them hens is either you or Al……” Kelly stopped as she realized she spoke like Alex was still here. I saw as her eyes started to tear up so I went and gave her a hug. I teared up a little to but before long we sucked it up and smiled.

“Next up you need to go find your 4th because it’s time for a fence check.”

“Oh, in that case I have someone that I want you to meet.” I got excited as I pulled out my cube and opened a portal, I called out to Rhonda and Shadow to come out.

Rhonda jumped out in joy as I told her we were at the farm. ‘Home!’ She yelled in my head as she squawked and took off towards the coop to see her family. I didn’t see Bobba but I figured he was around here somewhere.

Next Kelly gasped as a Dark haired pup jumped into my arms and sent an image of meat cooking over a campfire. “Hahaha, yes buddy we will get you some meat here soon. But first I want you too meet someone, This is Kelly, she helped me before you and me met.”

Shadow turned towards Kelly and barked while wagging his tail. Kelly on the other hand looked a little scared but after I reassured her that Shadow was a good boy, she slowly lifted a hand towards his hand. Shadow kept looking at her hand and her face before he got fed up with how slow she was inching towards him and instead shoved his head into her hand and started licking it.

She chuckled. “Not very patient, is he? Where did you find him Jimmy?” She was scratching behind his ears and tummy and before long his little legs were twitching at how good it felt.

“I found him soon after leaving, His ribs were showing and he had a huge scratch down his leg. But after some of your jerky he was all for joining me.” I smiled and that was when Stacy and Hailee spoke up… I may have forgotten they were there…

“Is that what I think it is?” Stacy said with disbelief in her voice.

“Yup, that is a baby Cutter wolf. Last I checked he is only rank D, we haven’t had a whole lot of training time in fights but he is a tough little guy for sure.”

“Can we pet him too?” Hailee asked with barely concealed excitement.

“Go ahead, but just be careful, if he doesn’t like you he will let you know.”

She and Stacy knelt down and Kelly stood up so that Shadow would look towards them. It was a little bit of a standoff as Shadow just stared while sniffing the air. “Well buddy, what ya think?” I asked as he looked up at me for a second before looking at Kelly and I got a mental image of a bigger Cutter wolf looking down at Shadow, then he turned towards the girls and another image of other pups running around was sent.

I laughed and that got weird looks from Kelly and the girls. I stopped and explained that thanks to my power, I was able to get images from Shadow through our connection and that for Kelly he feels like she is a mother wolf, and for the girls that they are just other pups to play with.

Kelly smiled at that and reached down to pet him again. “Well Shadow I think you and me are going to get along just fine. Why don’t I go fix up some meat for the growing boy?” He barked at that and smiled as his tongue hung out of his mouth.

“Ok it’s a plan, you help your master find his teammate and I will go make you a special treat.”

She walked off and he went back to getting pet by the girls. He would play slap their hands and growl a little at them but it was all in fun so they weren’t afraid.

“Ugh, I guess let’s get to this. Can you help us find someone? I think if we start off by finding Rhonda we can go from there.” Shadow barked and started sniffing the air before he started running in the direction that Rhonda took off in.
