CHAPTER 493

"How is that possible?" Caitlin slapped her lightly and scolded, "Don't talk nonsense! I have had nothing to do with him for a long time."

Although Lucian announced that he would not give up on her, it was none of her business. In fact, she was no longer going to get involved with him anymore. It was the cold, hard truth that Lucian killed her parents. No matter how strong their relationship was before, she no longer had any feelings for him.

She wasn't a magnanimous person who could forgive the murderer of her parents. No matter how deep in love they used to be, her parents' death would always be an insurmountable gap between her and Lucian. They were never going to get back together again.

"Great." Leigh patted her on the shoulder and said, "Lucian is an insidious b*stard. He's not worthy of your love at all! If he found a way to lurk around your family and pretend to be a nice person with your parents before betraying them, he might do that to you in the future. He is not worth entrusting for life."

"I agree with Leigh," Leah chimed in. "You were so kind to him, but he faked a sweet facade and secretly plotted to harm your parents and take away your family's wealth. He is nothing short of a sinister b*stard. Don't you get involved with him again, Katy!"

"I won't." Caitlin nodded. "It's impossible for us to get back together."

She was never going to forgive Lucian, ever!

Leigh then added, "But he keeps pestering you!"

"Right," Caitlin agreed. "So even if I formally join the company, I won't stay in Dusktown for a long time

in the future. I will try to get out of here as much as possible if the opportunity arises."

Her roots were here, and she could always come back when she was exhausted. As long as she had a home, her family, and a place to stay, she felt at ease. To avoid Lucian, however, she still had to stay out of Dusktown as frequently as possible.

"It doesn't have to be like that." Leigh looked at Caitlin with a smile and suggested, "You can heed my advice and go on a blind date with Grayson! If you have a boyfriend or even a husband, what reason does Lucian have to pester you?"

Caitlin was speechless at that. After all her efforts, Leigh was still trying to persuade her to go on that blind date. Anyhow… Leigh did make sense.

If she had a boyfriend or a husband, Lucian would no longer have the reason or right to pester her. His pride and self-esteem would stop him from doing that.

Speaking of which, finding a boyfriend was one way to get rid of Lucian once and for all. It was indeed very annoying to be harassed by him all the time. She had hoped to break ties with him completely and start a new life, but he was always harassing her in various ways, trying to prove his love for her.

He sent flowers and gifts, confessed affectionately, and even knelt on his knees to beg for forgiveness. He had all kinds of creative tricks up his sleeves. Perhaps, he was anticipating that Caitlin would one day be moved by his actions and believe that he was truly in love with her.

Unfortunately, all she felt was annoyance and irritation. She used to think about leaving Dusktown to avoid him, but how could hiding be better than confronting him head-on? Besides, she wasn't the one

at fault. Why did she have to hide for her life?

If she took Leigh's advice, got herself a boyfriend, and became another man's woman, Lucian might finally give up. Thinking of that, she suddenly thought Leigh's crazy idea didn't sound so bad.

However…

She glanced at Leah and uttered, "I'll wait for Leah. If she has good news, I'll consider going on that blind date."

At the same time, Leigh turned to Leah and commented, "I think Leah and Kieran will be a good match. They're both handsome and beautiful. A match made in heaven indeed."

"You're exaggerating!" Leah shook her head in denial.

"I'm serious. I—" Halfway through her sentence, there was a knock at the door, interrupting Leigh.

"Come in," Madeline permitted them. When the door opened, Sebastian strode in with a glass of wine.

"Sebastian." Martin, who hadn't spoken much, stood up to greet Sebastian, looking like a good boy.

Sebastian smiled at him in return and walked up to Madeline before toasting, "I'm here to make a toast to everyone. Thank you for taking care of Maddie."

He raised his wine glass to everyone and downed the content in one go. Everyone mirrored his actions and drank with him.

After the toast, Sebastian took a seat beside Madeline. She then inquired, "Where are Quincy and Joel?"

Her sons followed Sebastian to the private room next door, but they didn't show up again after that.

"They went out to play with Quinton and the rest," replied Sebastian.

Madeline went silent at that. Fine, then. She thought the kids were so attached to Sebastian that they forgot about her. It turned out that they went out to play. She felt better after hearing that.

Sebastian couldn't help chuckling. "What's with that expression? Why do you look relieved?"

He sent flowers and gifts, confessed affectionately, and even knelt on his knees to beg for forgiveness. He had all kinds of creative tricks up his sleeves. Perhaps, he was anticipating that Caitlin would one day be moved by his actions and believe that he was truly in love with her.

"Do I?" Madeline refused to admit it.

"What? Are you worried that I'm stealing your sons away from you?" Sebastian teased.

"I said I'm not!" Madeline whined in response.

"Don't worry." Sebastian caressed the back of her head and reassured her, "Although they like me a lot, you are still the most important person to them. They will definitely turn against me if I bully you."

"You won't bully me…" Madeline whispered. Content is property © .

Sebastian looked at her with arched brows. "Are you that confident in me?"

"Yeah." Madeline nodded, "You are a good person."

You're the best in the world!

Sebastian smiled. "Don't you only treat strangers so politely?"

"Nonsense! If you weren't a good person, why would I have married you?" Madeline retorted.

"Sounds about right!" Sebastian grinned and caressed her long and silky hair.

Seeing the couple, Leigh tutted. "Get a room, you two. Do you have to display affection in front of everyone?"

"Sorry," Sebastian smiled. "I can't help myself at the moment."

Leigh was rendered speechless. Can't help it?! Tsk!

Since Sebastian wasn't close with most of Madeline's colleagues, he merely chit-chatted with them for a while before getting up to leave.

After he left, everyone relaxed significantly.

Sebastian was polite to them and didn't embarrass them, but he had an aura of a superior, and he was the husband of their boss, so they wanted to make a good impression in front of him. Whenever Sebastian was present, they would inevitably maintain a demure posture and be unwilling to reveal

their true nature. If they continued holding back for a long time, it would get exhausting. So, the moment he left, everyone was back to their true selves again.

"Madison, I'm a little sleepy…" Rowan muttered before grabbing Madison's arm.

Hearing that Madison's voice sounded off, Rowan hurriedly turned to look at him. Rowan's face was currently flushed, and his eyes had narrowed into thin lines as if his eyelids were struggling to maintain open.

"Did you drink wine?" Madison questioned with a frown.

"No." Rowan pouted. "Just… when Sebastian made a toast earlier, I took a tiny sip."

He was young and the same age as Martin, so he called Sebastian by his name.

"What a fool!" Madison's brows knitted even tighter. "Aren't you aware that you're allergic to alcohol? Who allowed you to take a small sip?!"
