The Original

“Dirge of the Hollow: Eternal Coffin.”

The man in black uttered the words with a chilling finality, his finger extending toward the figure clad in white. A luminous halo floated above the injured man’s head, its light dimmed by his grievous wounds. The man in white met the gaze of his assailant, his expression caught between defiance and despair.

Beneath him, the fabric of reality twisted, giving way to a blackened void. From this abyss, a coffin forged of shadows and starlight began to form, its surface adorned with pulsating sigils that whispered of forgotten horrors. With an agonized cry, the man in white was drawn downward, his form flickering as the coffin’s lid slammed shut with a resounding echo.

The coffin vanished into the unknown, leaving behind only silence, and the heavy, oppressive aura of finality.

“Well… The Original is cleared.”

Below the man in black, there stood another man. A quite young one. He also was wearing black. A dark cloak made of raven feathers. His belt had a dagger. A glowing purple dagger. It was sharp and it seemed to be made of a crystal-like material. He has an all black set other than the blade. Black pants, shirt and shoes. Though he wore a red tie, it was hard to see from the black button shirt over it. His arm raised, his wrist pointing towards his mouth as his lips opened to utter words; “The Original has been sealed. I repeat the Original has been sealed.” He said these words to a watch.

The watch made a glitchy voice like a walkie-talkie would as it replied to the young man, “Castillo, repeat yourself. I didn’t hear you.”

The man above the young Castillo in the air looked down, “Castillo? I find a liking to that name. You have a ten second head start to flee before I summon a demon to chase you.”

“Fuck…” Castillo began running away as he took his purple dagger out and spoke into his watch again, repeating his words; “The Original is sealed. I repeat, the Original is sealed. Do you copy Livius?”

“I… Yes. Run away before the Unmaking gets you. Run. You know the code right?”

“I do. Just clear the way, I have five damn seconds before i’m getting my ass chased by a demon he wants to fucking summon!” He yelled out as he stopped and stabbed his dagger in the air four times as the air around him stopped and a crack began to form.

“Alright. Guards-!” The watch makes another glitch sound, indicating the speaker has closed the signal.

“Alright… Four stabs… three slashes to the right, two to the left.” He slashed the air, three times to the right and two to the left. The crack’s size gets greater in size.

“And that’s five!” The Unmaking, the man in the air, yelled out as he raised his hand in the air. “Dimension Shatterer. Summon.” The air… No, reality itself stops around the Unmaking’s arm as reality forms into a demon. A red demon made of bloody veins and flesh. Its mouth was full of teeth and both of its arms had the same crystal material on Castillo’s dagger as its nails. It fell on the ground, on its feet. Staring at Castillo as he continued to slash the air, opening a dimensional gate into another universe.

“Fuck!” He slashed down three times, then jabbed up four times. The crack slowly began to open and that's when the demon vanished into thin air.

“N.. No… Where… Where is it? Where is it?!” Castillo yelled out as the crack got wider by every second.

The demon spawned behind Castillo, pointing its crystal nails down towards Castillo. He looked up as he saw the nails and fleshy arms, gasping for air as he jumped backwards into the opened crack.

“Castillo!” An old man yelled out. He stood tall in a simple suit and a hat. “...Dimension Shatterer.” His eyes widened as he looked at the crack… which now had the demon coming out of it.

The crack led the two into a lair… A lab type lair. For secretive corporations to rest and research. “Yeah! Dimension Shatterer!” He threw his purple dagger on the side, taking off his cloak and reached out for a spear. He gripped on to the spear’s handle as he let out one word; “Stab.”

The spear let out 3 needles exactly where Castillo had gripped the spear from. The needles began taking in his blood, transforming the weapon, with his blood, into a red, swirled, lace. “I… am… a Sangría!” He yelled out as he dashed into the demon, stabbing its left shoulder, “Statter.” The lace begins to vibrate and overfill the demon’s shoulder with blood, exploding it into bits instantly. The purple crystal nails falling on the ground like wasted bullets of a gun.

The demon screeched in pain as Castillo did the same exact thing to the demon’s right shoulder, exploding it into bits as its nails fell again. The demon screeched in a higher pitch as it was helpless without its arms. It tried to bite Castillo with its razor sharp teeth but Castillo stabbed the demon inside its mouth, again… Exploding its face into nothing but bits.

The remaining body… made of nothing but bloody flesh, fell on the ground like a sack of rotten meat.

“...The Original.” Castillo fell on his knees, “...H- he’s… sealed. The Monarchs are going to go insane now! Just in hopes of finding the Original…” A tear fell from his eye. “The Unmaking won… The Original wasn’t the strongest after all. It was the Unmaking… H- how… How did everyone look up to someone who lost to such a person?!” Tears streamed down his eyes. He looked up to the Original like he was his father. Yet he still lost to the one threat only he could face. “Damn you, Unmaking!” Castillo punched the ground continuously until his fists began to bleed.

“Stop it, Castillo.” The old man said as he grabbed his hands. “I, Livius, the leader of the Origin Corporation will find a way to handle this. Do not worry. We will solve this.”

“...I don’t believe that.”

“No one does. It’s an impossible feat for someone to reach the power of the Original or the Unmaking if they are not of Immortal blood.”

“Exactly… We can’t win. They destroy universes for fun while we can’t even destroy a whole island. We are nothing but mere specks in front of them.”

“True but false. We are weak but we are not specks.”

“Then what are we?”

“I don’t know that yet… but it’s not specks.”

Castillo grins, standing up on his feet and walking away. “I’ll see you later. I’m visiting someone.” On his way to the stairs, he grabbed one of the demon’s nails on the ground.

Livius nods as Castillo walks on the stairs, heading out of the base.

Castillo sighed, his shoulders slumping under the weight of despair. His fists clenched tightly, nails digging into his palms as hot tears carved paths down his cheeks. No one stood a chance anymore, he could feel it in his bones. The Originators would fall. They would all collapse to their knees, pleading for mercy from the Unmaking, knowing none would come.

“Two left, two up… Two right, one left, five down, two right… two left.” He took out the nail he had taken and used it as he used the crystal dagger. He slashed twice on the left side, cracking the air around him. Twice upwards, twice right, once on the left, five times downwards, then back to the right he slashed twice, and finally twice on the left. The air around him turned purple as the cracked dimensional portal began to open slowly. “...This is the only way for me to win.” He walks into the portal as soon as it fully opens. Gone into the unknown.
