Side story 1: Rena and The War God Sinoh

(Rena POV)

"Nhuuuu… hyaaahaaa"

"Just breathe in and breathe out, Lady Rena. Calm yourself and keep pushing, the baby is almost out!"

The head maid Martha reminded me again. Seriously, that's what I have been doing for the past 18 hours or so. It has already been that long since the labor had begun. Martha, who had prior experience as a midwife, said that it is really uncommon for the labor to be that long. Of course it's unnatural, if not for the extremely high mana capacity of my Devil bloodline, I would have died by now without even having given birth. I'm really starting to worry whether my child is alright or not.

"Hiiiiiiiii…haaaahaaaaa…nhuuuuu"

"Lady Rena, keep pushing! I can already see the head, just a few more pushes!"

"Nhuaaaaa…Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

"Uwaaaaah! Uwaaaaah!"

The sound of crying…

I've never felt so happy in my whole life hearing a child cry. As the crying of a healthy child continued, the anxiety that was deep within my heart because my race and my husband's race are different, the thought that there might be complications with the child or the possibility of the child's and my death, finally vanished without a trace. Happiness is the only emotion I am feeling right now. A happiness so pure and overwhelming that I'm starting to smile like an idiot.

"Uwaaah! Uwaaah!"

"Oh my! It's a healthy young boy! And he has a hair like the blackest night, the same as the God of War, Sinoh!"

That was Martha's impression of the child.

The Human's God Sinoh, also known as the God of War. The ancient records say that Sinoh was an ordinary human with unique black hair, who appeared in the era when the Beastmen ruled the Human country of Rolen. The humans were enslaved by the Beastmen and were being fed to a mysterious being, who ruled the Beastmen of that time with an iron fist. Sinoh's family were devoured by this being, and he was forced to watch it happen right in front of him. After that, the unknown being didn't even devour him. Instead, he locked him in a dungeon, forced to live with the grief of losing his family, as the unknown being enjoyed such despair. Sinoh wailed like a madman in that dungeon for 3 straight days; he was bound in chains with a gag in his mouth, not even allowed to kill himself.

At some point, a hooded person came in front of his cell and asked him. "Do you want revenge? I can give you the power to exact revenge. In exchange, you will unify the human race under your rule and ally with my Demon race."That person was the God of Demons, Death God Zenith. Sinoh accepted the deal and, together, they confronted the unknown being and fought to the death with it, managing to win by only a small margin. The Beastmen, Humans and Demons had millions of casualties as well, such that the time became known as 'The death era'.

After that, as promised, Sinoh united all of the humans and fought against the other races that wanted to take advantage of the Humans with the help of their allied country, the Demon country Zariel. He was titled War God Sinoh after that, as he was ruthless when it came to war and always led at the very front in every battlefield. This created the myth that every human with black hair has the will of the God of War and they will become a very strong and accomplished warrior.

As I was thinking about such things, my husband came in from outside of the room and you could see his anxiety from his face. I told him to calm down and name our son. What he named our son is the name of the one who healed me when I was dying from an unknown sickness while I was 6 months pregnant. I washealed, but unfortunately, it came at the expense of his own life. Before he died, we asked what his name was, and he said the words 'Kokuyo Yuki'. It was a strange name, or at least, we think it was his name, maybe it was some sort of unknown language. But, nonetheless, those were the words that he left us with.

"Yuki, huh? Why not Kokuyo? Isn't it better if we use his first name and not the household family?"

"No. I think it isn't his name at all. I've searched all the nobilities' last names for the Yuki household, but had no luck. Besides doesn't Yuki Blacklion sound better than Kokuyo Blacklion?"

Haaaa. I should've known it was that kind of reasoning behind his choice of name. Yuki Blacklion… Well, it does sound pleasing to the ear. Yuki Blacklion, my son, what will be your fate from now on?Whatever it is, I, as your mother, will help you to the best of my ability.
