CHAPTER 3
Ejun, The Sealed Chain of the Gods
Yugo can only bow and whimper as his whole life is being broadcasted like a tv show in an ignominious way.
"Number 4781, you stole money from your grandmother's wallet."
"But that was when my parents refused to give me allowance! I was a victim as well!", Yugo thought.
"You had murderous thoughts about Kaizer, a childhood friend."
"Childhood friend?! that bastard was the reason I'm in the afterlife in the first place!", Yugo fervidly thought.
"Then would anyone like to enter a contract with number 4781, Kazuha Yugo?"
"..."
Surprisingly, everyone was silent.
"This is unfair!", Yugo thought.
How come no one wanted to be a benefactor?
He travelled his gaze around and saw all the gods whispering and mumbling to each other whilst staring at him disgustingly.
"These fxxing gods, really!", he mumbled. He wanted to refute but he couldn't.
"Last call. Is there no one willing to enter a contract with number 4781?"
"Emperor, it seems no one wants to enter a contract with him. All of us gods don't sense a single ounce of potential in that child." A god announced.
Yugo scoffed, "Wow, he's got a glib tongue!" He whispered under his breath.
Emperor Exon then raised his hand and spoke, "Then, since no one wanted to be number 4781's benefactor, Kazuha Yugo's execution to hell shall be commenced."
Yugo's eyes widened in fear and shock. "WHAT?! What do you mean execution to hell?!"
Emperor Exon, with his eyebrows furrowed, spoke. "You have no right to speak in front of the gods."
Yugo heaved a deep sigh.
"This is just so unfair! The gods are more unfair than the justice system of Japan! I was a victim as well!" He thought.
He gritted his teeth and mumbled under his breath. "How do I even convince the gods not to throw me to hell?!"
Like a light bulb switched on, Yugo remembered something.
He read a part in chapter one of "Glorious Ascension" that'll surely help him in the situation.
Although these emperor gods may sound mighty and prideful, there was one reason why Ahn was able to tame these callous gods–that is, through compliments.
Ahn was the gods' favorite simply because Ahn would compliment their powers, looks, personalities and such.
"That's it!" Yugo thought.
Emperor Auroa raised her hand. "Lock this human in the pris–"
"H-Hey!" Yugo shouted, blushing not because he's angry, but simply because he's shy.
"..." Gods were in awe. No human was ever able to shout in such a despicable manner in front of the gods.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Emperor Auroa's eyes were heavily furrowed. "Kazuha Yugo, I believe you do know the consequences of what you are doing—"
"Well, I-I just wanted to say that you shouldn't furrow your eyes like that. It-it doesn't suit you-your face." Yugo continued to blush.
He's not used to complimenting women. The last time he complimented a girl, he got slapped in the face as an answer instead.
Emperor Auroa's deeply sharp gaze never faded. It became even more sinister. "What are you saying?"
Yugo avoided her gaze. Just one look from the mighty emperor and he might be burned to ashes instead. "W-What I'm saying is…"
"What?!"
"A pretty face like yours should not frown like that!"
All the gods were silent—currently in a state of shock. Their gazes were slowly shifting from yugo to Emperor Auroa, anticipating her reaction.
"I-Is that so…" Emperor Auroa blushed as she avoided Yugo's gaze.
"She's blushing?!?" The gods shouted, flabbergasted.
"How impudent!" Emperor Exon gripped his seat as he could no longer watch this nonsensical scene any further.
"Exon, refrain from showing such disgraceful manner as a god." Creatar said and mysteriously smiled, staring at Yugo intently.
Yugo nervously swallowed. He didn't think this would be easy but the gods are unpredictable. Who knows what they'll do next.
"Emperor Auroa, what should we do? should we send Kazuha Yugo to the depths of hell and seek for his punishment?" Creatar grinned teasingly looking at Yugo.
Auroa slammed her fists down her throne. "What nonsense! Bring out the chain box!"
"The chain box?! Are you crazy, Auroa?" Exon stood up and interfered. Because of his giant features, the whole hall shook because of the force.
Creatar laughed as he rest his head on his arms. "For Auroa to bring up the chain box, she must've taken a liking to you, Kazuha Yugo."
Yugo can only awkwardly laugh. It's the first he had heard of a chain box. It never appeared in the book nor was never mentioned.
The chain box—known as the forbidden box sealed with 11 chains. It is said that the chain box consists of a powerful monster but in fact, no one truly knows what's inside of it, except for the King of the Gods, who sealed the box himself.
One servant of the emperors hesitantly took and gave the box to Yugo. He looked scared of the box itself.
As Yugo observed the box, he saw that the box was rusty and looked ancient. Moreover, the chains were thick and weirdly, there were no locks in the chain. So there was no way to open the chains.
"Yugo, I have a mission for you." Auroa smiled mysteriously.
"Climb the tower with that box. It will help you with your journey. If you succeed in opening the box, then congratulations! but, if you fail in opening even one chain, you're doomed to die."
"Take Kazuha Yugo to the first layer of the tower!" Auroa shouted.
As the servants guide Yugo to the tower, his grip towards the box becomes firm. He doesn't know what's happening. He has no idea what the box is nor how to open it.
"should i just tame another god and ask him to open it? No, no, no. It's like I'm walking to death's door!" He mumbled under his breath.
"Hey."
"But what if I kindly ask the king of the gods to open the box? but if I do, where can I find that king of the gods?"
"Hey you!"
"Hm?" Yugo looked around. He was sure that he heard a sound.
While shifting his gaze around, No. 3481 walked towards Yugo. "Kazuha Yugo, please wait here in the waiting area before proceeding to the 1st layer."
"What? why?"
No. 3481 avoided his gaze. "Well, we're cleaning up."
Cleaning up—it may sound innocent but it's far more shady than it sounds. No. 3481 and the others were "cleaning" up "residues" made by the god guarding the first layer. In simpler terms, they are cleaning up the blood of the people splattered because of the god guarding the first tower.
After No. 3481 left, Yugo was left in a corner alone while others around him were feeling anxious and nervous.
"Hey, you! I've been calling you a lot of times, kid!"
"Hm?" Yugo intently stared at the box. He was sure it made a sound.
A mouth appeared on the box and spoke. "That's right. I'm calling for you."
"AH!" Yugo shouted.
"What the—hey, pick me up!"
"Oh, right. I'm sorry."
"What's yer name, kid?" The box spoke again.
"It's Kazuha Yugo." He answered politely.
"Kazuha?"
"Y-Yes."
"I'm Ejun. A god trapped inside this box."
