Fragments of Truth

Fragments of Truth

E led Selene through the Seam, the glowing landscape shifting with every step. She felt as though she were walking through a dream, the boundaries of reality bending and folding around her.

They stopped before another shimmering surface, this one fractured into smaller fragments like shards of broken glass.

“This is where we begin,” E said. “Each fragment holds a piece of the unraveling. Together, they will show us the truth.”

Selene hesitated, her stomach churning. “What if I don’t like what I see?”

E regarded her with quiet intensity. “The truth isn’t always kind, Selene. But it’s necessary.”

Taking a deep breath, she reached out and touched the first fragment.

The world around her shifted, and she found herself standing in a memory—not her own, but Lydia’s.

Lydia was in the forest, the diary clutched in her hands. Her face was pale, her movements frantic as she scribbled something into its pages.

“I don’t understand,” Lydia muttered to herself, her voice trembling. “The letters… they promised answers, but they’ve only left me with more questions.”

Selene’s heart twisted as she watched Lydia crumble under the weight of uncertainty. She wanted to call out to her, to warn her of what was coming, but she couldn’t.

The fragment dissolved, pulling Selene back into the Seam.

“She was like me,” Selene murmured, her voice breaking. “Lost, searching… but she never found the answers, did she?”

E was silent for a moment before replying. “She found them. But by the time she did, it was too late to change her thread.”
