Clouds were gathering in a corner of the sky. It's gonna rain today. That means the riverโ€™s going to flood. A great timing, I must say. Nobody would find the body. My body.

โ€˜Anjali, read the text where I left off.โ€™

yep, that would be me, I'm Anjali.

โ€˜No sir, I can'tโ€™โ€”I stood up. I really hate this guy, our economics teacher. He gets really touchy-feely with the girls. Thatโ€™s why I left his tuition. I guess he hates me too.

โ€˜Might I expect any explanation for that?โ€™

Aargh! Just let me live my last day in peace! But I can't say that. But then what can I say?

Eh, who cares. It is my last day anyway. Just say what I want.

โ€˜I donโ€™t like you, sir. Thatโ€™s the one and only explanation.โ€™

โ€˜Whaโ€”โ€™

Ding Dong Dang Dong Ding Dongโ€”the final bell rang. I didnโ€™t wait to listen to his rambling. I hurled up my bad on my back and ran out of the classroom. Pretty sure it would end up in suspension. Or at least a guardian call. LOL. A guardian call for the girl who doesnโ€™t have a guardian! How fucking funny! You can call my parents anything but guardians, you know.

I blended in with the crowd in the hallway. I guess thatโ€™s the only thing I have learned since getting into high school. Blending in. Still, if I could do it efficiently, I wouldnโ€™t be at this point today.

Exited through the main gate. Our school is right by the side of the road. The barren road is filled with water. The illegally overloaded trucks have made irregular poodles in it. The rainwater turned them into little pools.

โ€˜Hehe!โ€™ -a small smile curved up my mouth. I remember when I was a kid, I used to always jump at those mini-pools while walking, splattering water everywhere until mom dragged me off. Mom used to be super mad yet very loving at the same time back then. When she was still normal.

I walked along the left side of the road carefully. The cars were passing by too fast. You may ask, why Anjali? If you had decided to die even a road accident should be okay. But well, I donโ€™t like it. I prefer cleanliness, you know. All that blood, media, coverage, spilled intestinesโ€”eww!

A left, a right, another right then cut off to a small route made on bare grass by the municipality garbage dumpster. Nobody comes this way because of the smell. I wouldnโ€™t too normally, but itโ€™s the shortest way to the river. I want it to be like the first love you read in those shitty novels on Wattpad. (No offense, I like them too!) Short and sweet, but the effect lasts forever, till death.

Now, just turn this right corner by the bush. Why does the bush look so raffled though? Was somebody here?

Phew, now I'm in front of the river. Manโ€ฆthe sound is making me nervous. But I can't get a stage fright like this. I can't afford to stay in this world anymore. Everything is already fucked up. I donโ€™t really have anywhere to return to. Just have to close my eyes, take deep breaths for ten seconds and take a leap of faith. Or leap of death. Sorry, my jokes arenโ€™t sounding funny though.

Ten.

The wind is fast today.

Nine.

The river sounds like it's shattering every rock by its bank.

Eight.

I wonder if it will break all my bones like that tooโ€ฆ

Seven.

The rain is drenching me completely. The water drops are hitting me like shards of glass.

Six.

I wonder how sharp the river water will feel on my skinโ€ฆ

Five.

It must hurt a lot.

Four.

No no, I can't afford to be a coward. Nothing but a coward!

Three.

But will there really be no one who will miss me?

Two.

The black cat! Who will feed him if I'm not there!. He might die!

โ€˜EEEEEEEEEEK!โ€™

A loud scream attacked my eardrum. Who is it? Sounded like a girlโ€™s voice.

โ€˜EEEEEK! Help! AAAAAH!โ€™

There she was. Drowning. A girl, pale and a bit chubby, maybe a year younger than me, was holding on to the river bank with all her might. Her body was getting hurled by the river current. I donโ€™t know why, but at that moment, she looked mesmerizing to me. And I decided not to die.

Thatโ€™s how I made the worst decision of my life.

Thatโ€™s how I first met her.
