While his troops trained, overseen by a compelled officer, Cyrus was starting to actually fill his role as a dungeon core, decorating and creating new mobs for his dungeon.
Due to the 25 housing space limitation, the roman was extremely careful in his troop placement. 5 in the first room, 8 in the second and 10 in the 3rd, leaving the boss and 2 support units for the final chamber.
Undecided about the theme and creature, the Decanus opened his character sheet. Even though Cyrus himself had access to a multitude of unit types, "standard" dungeons, even the Reincarnated ones, were allowed to only select one in the beginning. These restrictions were brought about by the manipulation of dungeon fairies and previous assumptions transferred from their previous lives, a weakness that the roman lacked.

Cyrus scratched his chin absentmindedly, having forgotten that he no longer had a beard. Pondering over the options, the Decanus opened up a book for additional advice.

The demonic and undead categories were eliminated instantly. Due to the unsavoury nature of these species, a kill-on-sight protocol by the adventurer's guild was put in place. Their history with the world has been catastrophic and bloody, to say the least.
The evil mobs were tossed in the bin, soon followed by the inferior races, goblins and kobolds. Those nasty, deformed creatures were worthless in Cyrus's eyes, viewing them as nothing more but failed attempts by animals at mimicking the human race.
Insects and animals, much like goblins and kobolds, were primitive and inferior compared to all other options. Even though they would make great disguises, warding off most adventurers with their boring and ugly stature, Cyrus's pride stopped him. These two options were crossed from the list.
After perusing the rest of the pages and finding nothing noteworthy that caught the eye, the roman returned to the first page. Elementals. The ability to master the very elements that gave birth to the universe is only a step down from divinity. Tapping the option, Cyrus gained knowledge of the basic schematic and its variants. His mind was imbued with the capabilities and weaknesses, possible evolutions and other details of his chosen unit. Cyrus was most pleased with his decision. A new sheet opened in front of him.
Troop (Elementals): Cost Elemental Orb 5 Mana Elemental Spirit 10 Mana Elemental Mimic 20 Mana Elemental Golem 30 Mana Elemental (Personalised) 30 Mana + (Varies depending on size)
Summoning a fire orb, Cyrus was instantly captivated by its mesmerising beauty. The flaming ball shimmered, small sputters and bursts of flame flew from the sphere like a rolling wave. After a lingering stare, Cyrus despawned it.
Following the brief test, the roman created a [Fire Elemental Spirit]. The design had changed from a ball into a human figure, a later stage of the fire orb. A trial run was in order to expose the true capabilities.
The dungeon core conjured up a regenerative golem. Panting, Cyrus pointed in the general direction of the new mob and silently willed the elemental to attack it. Five fireballs were launched in quick succession. Each projectile was aimed at a different body part.
In the blink of an eye, a massive cloud of smoke engulfed the training statue, sending debris flying through the air. Rocks showered upon Cyrus's location as if driven by pure spite. Some found their mark, bonking his head. Others collided harmlessly into his armour. The roman whistled in awe, "Impressive, very impressive. You'll make a fine defender of these halls."
Having confirmed the predominant fighting force to be the [Fire Elemental Spirits], the dungeon core went on to search for a suitable boss. Reopening the blue image, Cyrus's eyes wondered, drifting from one mob to another before zoning in on the most costly pre-made mob, [Elemental Golem].
Pouring mana into a system mold, the flaming, molten Golem slowly took shape. The size disappointed him... The flaming hulk of stone and molten lava was present, it towered above him yet held none of the grandeur or imposingness of his imagination. "It will do..." Cyrus sighed in half-disappointment, half-giddiness. His discontent was soon washed away as the images of terrified faces of adventurers popped into his skull, having to face such a monstrosity in combat. The roman's smile widened and a small cackle escaped his lips, "That'll teach them not to mess with me!"
2 hours later...
A half-baked, half-burnt man stumbled out of a tunnel, slamming the door behind him. The few sparse seconds of opening and closing the door had enabled a hideous, black, shadowy substance to leak through, smoke.
Stumbling a few steps forward to avoid the ashen residue, the man collapsed.
Dungeon building has turned from an enjoyable activity into a living hell in an instant. The catalyst of his calamity was a rogue spark from a fire orb that had traipsed on an adventure into the forest.
All the trees caught fire, then the plants. It became a domino effect. Cyrus extinguishes one and another pops up. Due to the dungeon mana used to create the decorations, they couldn't be permanently destroyed. They regenerated as fast as the ambient mana allowed, resulting in a never-ending cycle of things going up in flames. Cyrus had been utterly defeated at that point, not even bothering to put out the raging inferno. After carving a handful of purification runes into the walls and conjuring five fire orbs residents, the roman called it a day.
