Chapter 3 - Chelsie's New Friends

Young Chelsie tensed as she explored the new level. Not much had changed environment wise... It was still the musky and cold cave, and the same yucky smell covering the whole floor.

"Stinky goblins..."

Chelsie muttered nervously as she ordered the boar to walk slower. Her paranoia getting to her as she summoned another three wolves as well as alpha wolf to scout as she explored the boring cave.

Sure enough, the level had goblins. As a few seconds later, Chelsie screamed after almost getting hit by an arrow to the head. Unbeknownst to her, her wolf scouts, instincts and quick reaction being telepathically sent to her as well as her summons, along with the short but agile legs of the boar easily was enough to easily dodge the arrow.

Well ofcourse a 6 year old girl would only panic at the face of that.

...

The battle assumed instantly, as the boar continously circled around the room, prioritizing little Chelsea's safety rather than going on the aggressive. The wolves being far faster than even the goblin lord earlier easily bypassed the 20 or so mellee figthers, directly charging towards the five or so archers that almost put a hole through little Chelsea's head. Being telepathically linked, the wolves ravaged the goblin archers with childish rage.

Even with their advantage in speed and telepathic communication though, the sheer number of goblins would sometimes catch the wolf offguard, easily killing the three wolves. Thankfully Chelsea's panicked state allowed her to instinctually summon wolves continously, even using mana drain to at times, as a reflective action or just doing anything to survive.

Though little Chelsie is brave, fighting really is too much at her age. The tears in her eyes, a testament to that. It was even a miracle that she hadn't fainted from all the blood that's currently present in the battle.

Chelsea, finally getting out of her panicked state commanded the boar to charge through the smaller goblins, the boar's sheer weight and speed enough to tumble the goblin warriors and spread them out making them easy pickings for the three wolves who've just ended the sinful archers.

Although faster, the alpha wolf she summoned simply kept in pace with the boar she was riding, it's instincts sharp though content with just protecting it's dear Summoner.

The rest of the battle was a simple rinse and repeat of the last one. With little Chelsea running around on top of the boar, as the rest of hear summons finished the level.

...

Sure enough another gatcha choose one reward message appeared right after, startling little Chelsie that is currently far more excited in opening the nearby treasure chest.

----------------------------------------

> [Info] Congratulations in clearing the level. Choose 1 skill as a reward.

> - Summon Entity Subskill: Name an Entity. Bonus: +3 Summon slots.

> - Mana Shield, cast, remains active unless removed.

> - Arcane Missile, 4 second Cooldown.

----------------------------------------

Having the interface pop out in front of her, Chelsea grumbled something about the system being a big meanie. Before instantly selecting the first option.

Logically speaking, mana shield plus her mana drain ability would ensure her a more safer route, not to mention if she could master mana shield to extend the shield to her summons she could theoretically just ram her enemies to death. As long as they weren't bigger than her summons ofcourse.

Arcane missile wouldn't be a bad choice either. As long as she could maintain safe distance, constant use of summon, arcane missile as well as mana drain would make her an effective killing machine, upon using her summons as meat shields.

Though of course, little Chelsie hadn't really thought about all that. The first option upon her interpretation literally say 'Name your new friends' so making her too excited to even look or consider the other 'boring' listed below.

She had tried to name her first summon back then. Only to instinctually acknowledge that they didn't really had memories, and would rather respond to commands than being called out by their given name. Much like a dog would. Not like wolves can be called dogs... Makes you wonder which country did Chelsea originate from.

Trying out the skill she hopped off the boar and pointed towards it declaring it's name to be Hamlet, the three wolves being named Lesley, Margaret and Shirona with the alpha being named Perry their new found sentience causing them to roll their eyes at the seemingly random names.

Seeing them react for the first time however, little Chelsea cried in joy. Hugging them one by one then giving them each a pat in the head. Upon using the skill ofcourse, another notification suddenly saying that the named creatures now permanently take up the summon slot she used to summon them, and will use a certain amount of mana pool and regeneration in order to consistently summon or heal them back as needed as they are now real 'sentient' entities unlike the instinctual beings she usually summoned.

The healing was a surprise, though that can easily be attributed to the summons being created through her own mana. Though ofcourse little Chelsea didn't really read any of that.

...

After naming her friends, Chelsie and her gang marched towards the treasure chest and opened it.

----------------------------------------

> [Info] Near Indestructible Toy Shield - Very light and small sturdy shield

----------------------------------------

Chelsea pouted upon seating the item but eventually took it after being nudged by her new friend porkchop hamlet.

To be continued.
