There was a woman in front of him. A beautiful one that had apparently summoned him from his world to save their own.
There was a monster at his back. A knight was fighting against it, though it seemed like that knight would soon meet the fate of his peers that had perished before him.
Alan was familiar with the scenario. Though not exactly the same, it seemed to be playing out like the few light novels he had read, ones where a person from Earth was summoned to help out in a different world. Ordinary people granted extraordinary powers to face off against adversity.
As it was, he could already feel 'something' settling in on his right hand, a strange sensation that left him with the knowledge of abilities he couldn't have done back on Earth. At the same time, he felt his body becoming lighter, as if a single bound would send him rocketing off in any direction.
Faced with all of this, the chance that people would die for (and quite a few likely had died for), Alan trusted his gut and did the first thing that came to his mind.
He ran.
"Wh-"
The woman's words were half heard by him, but he was long gone before the rest of them reached his ears.

Princess Luna of Elysian Eternia could only stare in shock at the swiftly fading back of their hero.
She couldn't believe it.
His face had been determined, and he carried the aura of a hero. Blonde hair shining with light, intelligent blue eyes coolly scanning the horizon... there was no doubt that the Goddess had blessed her with the summoning of a hero to save them all.
And yet he had fled, leaving both her and her knight behind.
A roar reminded her of the danger at hand, and Luna turned to see her knight on the verge of being overwhelmed by the fenrir that had attacked them-

"I will not fail!"
-Only to have the tides turned in an instant.
With those words, the knight swung his sword, the blade crackling with electricity as it carved through the air.
His opponent, the monstrous wolf that was commonly called 'fenrir', was immediately cut in half.
The knight sighed, lowering his sword believing that the danger was over.
Seeing this, Luna took a step forward, intending to talk with him about what they were going to do about the hero.
Yet, before she could, the fenrir's body surged forward, making one final attack on its killer.
"No!" Luna screamed and ran forward, completely ignoring the danger in such an act.
The knight stepped back, but he couldn't avoid the massive claw aiming for his head.
Blood splattered to the ground, as well as a chunk of metal.
Luna stilled. 'No,' she thought. 'No, no, no! First the hero, and now-'
Her train of thoughts was cut short by a voice calling out.
"Tch, learn to accept death, monster!"
The knight swung his sword, putting a complete end to the fenrir. Afterwards, he staggered forward, plunging his sword
into the ground and using it as a crutch.
Luna didn't hesitate and ran towards him. "Brother! Are you alright?"
The knight sighed. His helmet had been knocked off in the fenrir's last attack, revealing features that had been hidden. Like the princess, he possessed violet eyes and black hair.
His face was one with sharp features, handsome yet austere, but seeing the princess, it shifted to bear a calm smile. "Yes, sister. I am fine. But what of our hero?" He took a look around. "I do not see him. Was the summoning a success?"
Luna let out a sigh. "Well, brother..."
