President Kelith, Washington. D.C.
White house situation room, 9:52 AM
It had been a stressful morning, more so than normal. He had been woken up at his desk in the Oval Office to way too many Secret Service agents. They had then rushed him to the bunker with only the quick explanation of a, “Possible terrorist attack.”
As far he could tell, everything looked to be fine. He wouldn't stop them from trying to protect him though, he was the most important man in the country. He wouldn't risk his life just for a few more minutes of sleep.
After being safely locked in the White House bunker, a small team of medical professionals performed medical tests on everyone that was in the room. They were looking to find out what had caused everyone to faint for what was currently estimated to be a minimum of two hours. Some people were reported to be still asleep in a coma-like state.
Currently though, he was sitting at the table with many of the high ranking military staff and leaders of the political sphere, including his Vice President. There were also many technicians operating the various equipment throughout the large room. “Gentlemen,” He addressed the military staff first, “One of you tell me what in the hells is going on.” He needed to know what was happening before he could choose a course of action.
“Mr. President, Sir,” A Navy Admiral was the first to speak up, “We got a report from the USS Arleigh Burke fifteen minutes ago. A file from one of the onboard cameras was included. The Arleigh Burke reports no casualties and two unidentified life forms spotted off its port side one minute before all onboard personnel were rendered unconscious.” A bead of sweat was visible as it slid down the side of the Admiral's brow.
“Well Admiral, what's so special about the creatures? And does anyone have more information on the fainting attack? I need to know if this was an attack by a coordinated force or a sole actor!” He needed to resolve this mess as soon as possible, it would look good to the public when he ran for re-election in 2012. Failing to prove himself would likely lose him most of the support he had been able to garner since being elected as president over the past two years of his term.
“We suspect it was the creatures, Sir. We received a video file from the vessel.” The Admiral nodded at one of the technicians working away at a nearby monitor and a video was pulled up on the large screen at one end of the table they were all sat at, the end opposite of where he currently sat. He had the best view so that he could easily analyze the screen. “Before we start, Sir. We have done all we could with the time we had to make sure that it is not fabricated. As far as we can tell, these things are the cause.”
On the screen now was a still picture of the ocean, the video was paused for the moment. “Play the video, I need to see them for myself.”
As the video started playing the camera began to move, rocking slowly back and forth with the waves of the ocean. The partially cloudy sky showed the sun just beyond them. It looked to be a calm day wherever the vessel was. The clouds could even be seen moving slowly away from the camera.
In the distance though, the fluffy clouds were moving together, gathering into a singular mass. It was unusual to him, but he wasn't knowledgeable on oceanic weather. With a slowly increasing pace the clouds continued to move towards that central point in the sky, a small distance away from the camera, what looked to be maybe a half mile away.
As the clouds collected in the sky they bunched together, forming a singular blot in the once blue sky, and grew progressively darker shades of gray. Within a few minutes the sky was entirely a dark gray color, which rapidly condensed to a near black. It was as if night had fallen in this small area, yet, just at the horizon the edge of the cloud formation could be seen, with the hint of the sun just barely visible.
As the clouds reached their near black color a golden ring, the center of which was obscured in darkness, appeared hovering just above the waves of the ocean. It was strangely well lit, yet no light source could be seen. He could swear the ring appeared while he was blinking, and it seemed to be in the approximate center under the clouds. There were a few stifled gasps from some of the other personnel in the room as they witnessed the ring appear from thin air, but no one spoke.

With the video still playing, it was another minute before something began happening to the ring. It looked to be rotating in place, but was too far from the camera to see what it was really doing. And then a long white leg emerged from the inky depths of the rings center. It was quickly followed by a second, and then the head and torso of a very tall creature. It looked nothing like anything on Earth. As its hindquarters left the ring a smaller, near identical ring, could be seen wrapped around this strange creature.
The creature walked forward revealing the rest of its pure white body. Although this creature resembled a deer or some similar quadruped, it was most definitely not a being from Earth. This strange creature seemed to hover above the waves on the same level as the waves, further proving how unnatural it was.
Even stranger was the creature that trailed behind by only a second or two. A small pink blob with a thin tail that was completely dwarfed by its companion. This miniscule creature floated through the air, a carefree aura displayed by its twisting flight. The complete opposite of the purposeful strides of the white beast.
The two creatures traveled a few feet from the original golden ring and paused, gazing out across the open ocean. The pink one then floated in front of the white one and, with a flash of bursting light, was replaced by an identical copy to the white beast. The two beasts gazed at each other as the ring bound to the original’s torso turned black and the ring bound to the copy changed to a pinkish hue.
The beasts then summoned a black ball of light and a pink ball of light, their rings glowing their respective colors. The balls of light floated up into the sky, reaching the top of the camera's view but staying within sight. There in the sky the two balls combined into one and exploded in a visible wave of energy, the shockwave rapidly traveling away from the blast. Despite the wave, there was no determinable impact from it.
Looking back to the two beasts that caused the strange event, the copy vanished in a small blip of white light. The original creature then seemed to look toward the camera, before slowly walking back through the ring, which then disappeared as if it had never been there. The clouds were quickly blown away by a strong gust of wind and the day continued on as it had before.
The video stopped, jolting him from the enthralling scene. The room sat in stunned silence, only the Admiral had an expression other than shock, his face a grimace of uncertainty. It was multiple minutes before anyone said anything. And yet, when someone spoke it was a quiet whisper from a technician, “Mew?” A couple people glanced at her quizzically, but most didn't hear.
“Sir, after the shockwave, all personnel onboard the vessel fell unconscious. We received other reports from vessels varying distances away from the blast. Collecting the reports from various vessels around the globe, we found that our forces were all affected at a maximum of twenty four seconds away from the blast zone. The wave, or rather pulse, originated approximately seven hundred miles northwest of Wake Island.” The Admiral finished his brief. It was insane to think of how fast America had been crippled. He was going to have to plan for a two sided war at this point; one against the al-Qaeda insurgents, and the other against these unknown creatures.
“Sir, the Army’s bases are all up and running at one hundred percent. All of our troops are standing by for your orders. We are ready to take those alien bastards down here and now!” One U.S. Army General was too enthusiastic for his liking, but sometimes that's what you need for war times.
He needed more information on these foes before he could make the right decision though, “General, do you even know where these creatures have gone? As far as I saw, one went through a portal to god knows where, and the other looked none too easy to find either. Someone find out where they went, and then we can work on detailed plans of attack. They show supernatural powers I have never seen before, and I want to be confident we can defeat them before we start throwing out shots in the dark!”
He massaged his forehead with a hand, feeling a growing headache. He could tell this day was only going to get more hectic. With these two creatures and their unknown capabilities missing, he would need people to capture or eliminate them as soon as possible. “And you,” he pointed over to the technician that spoke earlier, “Do you recognize these creatures?”
She quickly rose to her feet and snapped to attention, the name tag on her uniform showed her last name to be Whitaker. She spoke quickly, obviously nervous now, “Sir! I believe I have seen this creature before. It looks to be a creature from a game my son plays.” A furrow creased her brow as she spoke, “A game by the name of Pokeman.”
