Prologue 2: Hidden Class

Prologue 2: Hidden Class

“Welcome to Legacy online”

A women’s avatar appeared on the screen.

“This is a game where might rei-“

Justin interrupted her “Can you just skip the introduction and directly go to character creation page, you are waisting my time here. Just tell me what is different about your game.”

Although Justin wasn’t a hardcore gamer, he still had a lot of experience. He knew that at the beginning of a MMORPG game, just having a one minute head start is already a huge advantage. Not to mention the game already came out 3 days ago.

“Very well. The only thing different about our VR system is that we offer time compression, so you can spend 10 days in the game. Although this is allowed, your brain will react slowly when under time compression. You can chose the different settings. Different servers have different time compression rate. Don’t worry, the game saves your exact location and your stats, so every time you change a server, your character would still be the same. The only difference is that the monster that you have agro-ed would disappear. Please don’t use this to avoid getting killed. If you do, your character deleted and you would get a permanent ban for life. The same thing can happen in reverse. You might accidentally spawn in a middle of a giant PvP match between guilds. We also have the weight system, where the weight of the weapon also effects how much damage you do and how fast the weapon is corresponding with your strength”

“Stats are basically the same. Vitality is how much health you have, Strength is for how much damage you do, Agility is how fast your are, Endurance is how much damage you can take, Dexterity is how nimble you are, Intelligence is how much spell damage you can deal and how much mana you have, and Willpower helps you resist crowd control and mental curses. Not only do you gain points for these Stats by leveling, you can also get them by doing things in side the game or outside the game to increase them.

“You can also use every single weapon and armour in the game. Your class doesn’t effect what weapons you can use but I would advise you to use the weapons suitable for you play style and class”

A screen appeared with a bunch of different pictures of humanoid objects and their description.

“Here is the racial selection. Different race will give you different bonuses, and will change the way people will react to you. For example, if you chose a human and randomly meet a Orc on the street, the Orc would most likely kill you due to the thousand year long war between them. Each race also have a different alliances and factions in them.”

Justin pondered for a while, and then asked the women

“Which race gives bonuses to wielding a wide variety of weapons?”

As a kid, Justin always dreamed of being a over powered character in a game, wearing a long coat with huge battle scars, killing people with all sorts of weapon

“I would recommend the Dark Angel race. Although the name sounds evil, but in reality, they are just Angels with Darkness attributes. They are not hated by the Light faction or the Evil faction, but they are not favoured by them either. Basic ability involves Fly, Hide Wings, darkness manipulation and battle mastery.

Lore: The Dark Angels used to be defeated Angels that was captured by the Evil faction. They were treated like slaves. Due to the environment, the Angels got the Darkness attribute. They are a warrior race, and had to rebel against the Evil faction in order to gain their freedom. Only by rebelling against the Evil faction for a century, they finally gained their freedom. Due to the constant battles going on, they became one of the most powerful force in the world in terms of strength.

A picture of a Amiable youth with white hair and red eyes, with dark wings appeared on the screen

It looked exactly like Justin, but with different hair color and eye color, along with the wings

Justin was instantly hooked by the class when he saw the skill fly.  Humans had always liked the idea of being able to fly unaided.

Justin clicked accept.

“Please select your class”

The classes were: Scout, Warrior, Hunter, Mage

“The classes evolve as you continue to play the game. There are different paths were you can choose to go. For example, if you chose the Scout class, when you reach lvl 10, you can chose the class of Thief or Recon and so on. Of course, if you have the chances of getting any hidden classes, you can still evolve it as long as you can fulfil the requirement”

Justin immediately chose Hunter. The one thing Justin loved about MMORPGs, was the thrill of hunting someone or being hunted. It was the thrill of the battle. Any small mistake can lead to your demise. He just loves the how you can use traps to trick your opponents, and then just finish them with a knife to the throat.

“How many times the time compression do you want”

“Maximum” Justin didn’t have a lot of time left. He is still really poor and needs to pay rent.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

“Warning, times 300 time compression would definitely affect your gameplay by a huge amount”

“Do it anyways”

“What are you going to be called?”

“Sir Perrydinkleton”

“Alright. Teleporting to starting location”

-

Justin (Aka Sir Perrydinkleton) found himself in a remote village there was a few NPCs around. There was no player around due to the high rate of time compression. There was also a forrest right next to them. Then it hit him.

“Argghhghh!”

Justin screeched has his mind was distorted by pain. He fell on the floor, struggling to get up and move. This was the effect of the times 300 time compression.

“User experiencing pain. Do you want to change server?”

“No” Justin gritted his as he struggled to get up. He new that he must endure it to

Dexterity +2

Sir Perrydinkleton’s stats were constantly rising due to the immense pressure on his mind and body. Justin’s body was constantly twitching as he tried to stand up. After struggling for another minute, another notification appeared.

Willpower +2

Endurance +2

Dexterity +2

“This isn’t so bad after all.” Justin thought. Although he was in a lot of pain, he is still gaining a lot of   stats so it is ok (for him at least).

Just when he thought he would be stuck here, an middle aged man appeared next to him. Although his features were nothing special. If you walked past him on the road, you wouldn’t notice him. But  there was this look in his eyes that make him look experienced and noble. He looked at him trying to get up but failing. He looked at him with distain. And he left.

Willpower +2

Endurance +2

Dexterity +2

“What was that!” Justin exclaimed with all his might. It came out quite muffled, but the man still understood what he said.

“What was what” The man replied calmly

“Aren’t you going to help me back up?”

“Why should I help you. If you can’t even get up by yourself, what is the point of helping you up. You will just fall down again”

Willpower +2

Endurance +2

Dexterity +2

“Why you son of a bitch” Justin muttered under his breath. He was filled with anger. The man didn’t even put him in his eyes. Yet somehow, he knows he is right. Why should he help him if he can’t even stand up.

By using his anger to fuel his strength, Justin gritted his teeth and slowly lifted him self up. His head was in constant pain as he stood up. Then suddenly everything was clear again.

The man looked at him with a slightly surprised look.

“Kid, you got a lot of willpower. Usually, the adventurers  just give up and teleport away”

“What, so soon!” Justin knew how important hidden class was. There was only a few in each game, each with ridiculous powers. He immediately accepted it.

“I accept”

“Good. Now come with me.” The man still had a stern face and led Justin to a old house in the forrest. Although there was some monsters on the way to the house, the man managed to kill all of the monsters effortlessly.

“From now on, you will be studying here”

The man lead Justin into the old house. Although it was old, it was really tidy and neat. In the room, it was filled with different types of weapons and training equipment. There was such a wide variety of weapons, Justin didn’t even know half of the weapons inside the room.

“First lesson, strength and stamina based exercises. Now go sprint 100km while I rest”

“What” Justin blinked his eyes as he failed to register what the man said.

“100km. Do it now or you get a bonus 50 km” the man casually waved his hand and lead Justin to the field outside of his house.

And this was the start of the hellish training Justin had to go through
