The new world

-Oh, my God!

Morgan couldn’t believe what he was seeing. His hands were small and fragile, with a pinkish color. He turned his head and noticed that he also had a long, pink tail. Paying closer attention to his hands, he noticed strange marks on each of his ten fingers, similar to tattoos. Feeling confused and shocked, he began to swim desperately in all directions until, by accident, he collided with something. Morgan started rubbing his head because of the pain from the impact.

-Ouch!

(Said Morgan, quite hurt.)

Morgan looked up to see what he had hit and realized it was a large mirror made of gold, with an emblem he didn’t recognize. He saw his reflection and confirmed his suspicions: he now had the appearance of an axolotl. Morgan touched the mirror with his small hand and analyzed his figure carefully, over and over again. He noticed that a little below his neck, there was a symbol similar to the one on the necklace his father had given him for his birthday, before passing away.

-What is this?

(Said Morgan, quite confused.)

Morgan realized that on one of his gills, there was an ornament wrapped around it. He recognized the ornament.

-Isn’t this the ornament Dr. Nilah gave me?

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

(Said Morgan, even more confused.)

Morgan slowly moved away from his reflection and started swimming once more, but this time more calmly. He swam and swam without a fixed direction and without saying a single word. After swimming for hours, night finally fell. Tired, Morgan began looking for a place to sleep. Luckily, he saw that in one of the corners of this seemingly endless river, there were rocks forming a cave. Morgan, quite tired, entered it and lay down.

But just as he was about to fall asleep, he saw a light reflecting intensely on the river. Curious, Morgan went out to investigate what it was. He swam upward until he reached the surface of the river. He closed his eyes, lifted his head slightly out of the water, and when he opened them, he was amazed to see the night sky. It was free of any kind of pollution, allowing the vast cosmos to dazzle in its firmament. Then, he realized that the intense light was coming from the moon.

The moon stood tall like a silver lantern suspended in the vast black canvas of the sky.

-How beautiful.

(Said Morgan, awestruck.)

Morgan stayed a little longer, admiring the beautiful scene. After a while, he dipped his head back into the river and submerged himself until he reached the cave of stones he had found. He entered it and, once again, lay down to sleep. But as he tried to sleep, melancholy took hold of him, as he began to remember his mother, his father, his sister, Dr. Nilah, his friends, and everyone he had known in his previous world.

Morgan took a small rock, hugged it with his tiny hands, and pressed it against his chest, beginning to cry.

-Mom, can you sing a song?

(Said Morgan while crying.)

Morgan cried and cried until he finally fell asleep.

-Flammaros, Flammaros, FLAMMAROS!

These shouts woke Morgan, who, curious, decided to swim to the surface to see who was shouting that word. Morgan poked his head out stealthily and saw a young woman with wine-red hair. She had her hands extended and kept shouting that word.

-FLAMMAROS!

The young woman shouted once more, and from her hands came a small, weak flame.

-I did it! I did it!

(Shouted the young woman with wine-red hair.)

The young woman seemed very excited, as she started jumping with joy and celebrating. Meanwhile, Morgan, who was watching her silently from the river, was utterly confused, as he didn’t know what was happening. The young woman, while dancing and celebrating, noticed Morgan’s presence and started staring at him intently. Morgan, realizing he had been discovered, could only say one word:

-Oh, no.
