Chapter 3: Explosion?

Chapter 3: Explosion?

"A? Well, I had some things to take care of."

"And what exactly were those things?"

As he was taking off his jacket and heading towards the bathroom, his sister blocked his way. She stood with her arms crossed, narrowing her eyes at him.

"Let me through..."

Sora tried to move past her, but she refused to let him. This made him sigh and look at her once more.

"Do you really care?"

His words seemed to have an effect. She realized her behavior, glanced away, and returned to her activities as if ignoring him.

"Well, that worked."

After some time, Sora freshened up. He felt hungry, so his next destination was the kitchen.

He held onto a slight hope of finding something prepared, but there was nothing.

"Well, there are downsides to not getting along with your sister. But it's fine; after living alone for so many years, I know how to manage."

Checking what ingredients were available, he found a few things.

Ten minutes later, an omelet was ready and placed on the table. During this simple cooking process, his sister was clearly watching him secretly. But he didn’t care.

Once he finished his meal, he returned to his room, the safest place for him at the moment.

Though he had checked a few things on his way home, he still needed to verify everything he could.

"It seems the thought of using the skill activates it, and all enhancements take effect immediately. However, I still need to find the limits of this skill to maintain control."

Lying on the bed, he thought about it and decided to leave the house once his sister fell asleep.

He didn’t have to wait long; within half an hour, the sounds in the apartment ceased, and the lights turned off. Silence settled in, but he still waited a little longer.

----------------------------------------

Quietly exiting the apartment, he carefully closed the door behind him. Soon after, he took the elevator down to the street.

Looking around, he decided to head into a nearby alley. At this time, he was dressed entirely in black, holding a black object in his hand.

Under the cover of night, he donned a black mask that the previous owner of the body had—a simple mask with a red triangle in place of a mouth, inspired by an anime about a hidden hero.

After putting on the mask, he quickly jerked his head to check how well it stayed on. Fortunately, it was well-made, providing a secure fit.

Glancing around the alley, he shifted his gaze upward. Above him, the edges of the rooftops were visible, with the faint glow of a half-moon overhead.

Standing in the darkness, he blended into it. In the next moment, he clenched his fists, took a deep breath, and activated his skill.

His body felt light, and his reflexes sharpened. In the past, supernatural strength was just a term or something seen in movies and stories.

But now, it felt surreal, as if he were in a dream where he was fully aware and capable of performing extraordinary feats.

Raising a clenched fist, he punched the air with all his might. Unlike the last time in the karate gym, where he just wanted to test it, this time, an obvious gust of wind followed the swing, accompanied by a whistle.

Seeing this, he tried it a few more times, clearly mastering the superhuman strength. Swinging once more, he changed his target from the air to the building wall. Although he subconsciously reduced his power, fearing the pain, it was still enough to create a crackling sound in the dark alley.

Looking at the impact site, Sora felt a thrill. On the wall in front of him, the place where his fist struck was clearly visible, with a small crater and tiny cracks spreading from the center.

"This is incredible..."

He spoke, then shifted his gaze upward again. A second later, he tensed his legs and jumped, quickly approaching the third floor of the building. Without hesitation, he extended his leg, planted it against the wall, and pushed off.

Another crack appeared on the wall, but Sora managed to jump even higher.

"Thud... thud... thud..."

A pair of burning eyes continuously scanned the rooftop, searching for the next spot to land, followed by the sound of light taps.

Finally, when the last tap was heard, a figure emerged from the dark alley, landing on the rooftop after a leap. His body bent slightly before landing softly.

Standing on the rooftop, Sora looked at the neon lights in the distance. His eyes gleamed with excitement as emotions surged within him. Spreading his arms wide as if embracing the sky, his feelings burst forth.

"Yahoo!"

"Bam..."

But as he shouted, a flash of light appeared on the horizon, followed by an explosion. He didn’t know what it was, but the light vibration reached him even from a distance.

"...Could it be an accident?"

While he pondered the situation in the distance, a thought suddenly crossed his mind.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

"Should I check it out?"

Maybe it was due to his newfound power, or for some other reason, but he decided to find out what was happening, even if just from afar.

His legs tensed again, and focusing his energy, he jumped, leaping to the wall of the building ahead. With a few agile moves, he had already crossed 100 meters across the rooftops.

Though he hadn’t been this agile in his previous or current life, the skill allowed him to reach this level by enhancing his abilities.

From the side, a dark shadow swiftly moved toward the site of the explosion, and from there, thick smoke had already started rising.

----------------------------------------

Meanwhile, at the site of the explosion...

Burning debris had fallen around, creating a dangerous scene. Yet, amid the flaming wreckage, several figures surrounded a large one. What was even more surprising was that the large figure, though humanoid, was two or even three times bigger than a normal person. Besides the massive body, the humanoid, slightly resembling a human, had faintly glowing purple lines running across its skin. Its eyes were dark yellow with black sclera instead of the usual white.

Around it stood five people in light armor, led by a woman with black hair, holding a thin sword and exuding a commanding aura.

Both sides watched each other cautiously, clearly not ready to make a move.

The large figure clenched its fists and, glaring at the group before it, gritted its teeth.

"You pitiful humans think you can stand against the Heavenly Clan?"

The giant stepped forward, causing the ground beneath its feet to crack.

Seeing this, the woman in the lead took a step back, watching him warily, and responded.

"You've defied the law, and now you want to resist."

"Your human laws mean nothing to our clan. Even if I level this street to the ground..."

The giant proudly lifted its head, scanning the surroundings.

"If you leave now, I won't kill you..."

The purple glow on its body intensified, indicating it was ready to act. Seeing this, the other side took another step back.

"Captain, maybe we should retreat?"

The teammate beside the woman spoke, his eyes on the giant filled with awe.

The other members of the group remained silent, seemingly agreeing with their comrade.

Seeing this, the woman in the lead also began to waver. The giant noticed this too, the corners of its mouth lifting in a smug grin.

Sensing the other side’s hesitation, the giant was about to mock them. But suddenly, out of the corner of its eye, it spotted a figure standing on the rooftop of a nearby building.

The figure, dressed in black, looked mysterious and seemed to be watching them as if observing a game.

Seeing this figure, the giant scanned the area, realizing that the figure on the rooftop had no energy, appearing to be an ordinary human. Although it didn’t want to confront the group led by the woman with excellent swordsmanship, the giant was extremely arrogant toward ordinary people.

The conflict that had been brewing was the result of one ordinary girl refusing to play with it, leading to the involvement of the special unit and the ensuing fight.

Wanting to vent its anger and show the special unit that it could do as it pleased, the giant made up its mind and rushed toward the figure on the rooftop.

Seeing its movement, the group led by the woman did nothing until she noticed the figure on the rooftop.

Finally realizing what the giant intended, she moved to protect the ordinary person.

But by the time she reacted, the giant had already jumped and scaled the building in two leaps.

The woman watched as the giant made its third jump, lunging directly at the person on the rooftop.

At that moment, just as she thought there was no way to save this person, something happened.

----------------------------------------

Sora had finally approached the site of the explosion, but at that moment, he saw figures standing near the wreckage. The large figure immediately caught his attention, with its obvious markings and unusual eyes making him question what was going on.

However, before he could decide what to do, the other side had already moved toward him, leaping onto the rooftop. With his skill active, he could clearly see every move the giant made.

Finally, as the giant jumped at him, Sora, standing on the rooftop, took action. He easily leaped back, dodging the attack, while the giant slammed its feet into the roof, trying to crush him. The spot where it landed left a small crater.

"Judging by what I see, it seems the big guy wants me dead, but why?"

Thinking quickly, he didn’t give the giant time to react. Just as he had leaped back a moment ago, he swiftly accelerated forward. The giant barely had time to react before Sora spun around and kicked.

Thinking quickly, he didn't give the brute time to react. Just as he had leaped back moments ago, he now accelerated forward with equal speed. The brute barely had time to register the movement when Sora, closing in, spun and delivered a powerful kick.

A sharp whistle cut through the air as the brute saw the leg of the man in black blur before a tremendous force struck his abdomen. He couldn't resist it; he was sent flying several meters. Landing proved equally difficult as pain quickly spread throughout his body, following the force of the blow.

Lying on the ground, the brute struggled to comprehend what had just happened. With trembling hands, he pressed against the earth, trying to muster the strength to stand. However, he managed only to rise to his knees.

Gritting his teeth in pain, cold sweat broke out across his body as he stared at the man in black.

"Who the hell are you?!"

A hoarse, barely audible voice escaped his throat. But instead of answering, the man in black slowly approached him. A voice echoed.

"And why do you want to kill me?"

Listening to Sora's question, the brute didn't reply. Instead, he hesitated and asked something else.

"You... Are you from the Heavenly Clan?"

"What the hell is a Heavenly Clan? I'll ask you again—why did you want to kill me?"

Hearing the man in black, the brute finally realized one thing: the person before him wasn't a member of the Heavenly Clan but an ordinary man. This ignited a fierce rage within him. How could a mere human treat him like this?

"You damned wretched human..."

His voice grew clearer and stronger, but before he could continue, Sora lifted his leg and kicked him squarely in the face.

Another sharp whistle filled the air. A second later, the brute was flung off the roof, landing before the stunned commando team led by a woman.

The pitiful sight of the large man lying there only deepened their shock. Sora, glancing at the group, suddenly recognized a familiar figure among them.

It was clearly his classmate—the one the previous owner of his body had confessed to, only to be rejected. Now, her aura was different. Instead of the noble air she once had, this girl exuded a combative energy.

"Considering what I've seen today, it seems this world is far from ordinary. I don't know what else exists here, but it's probably best to keep my distance and avoid getting involved in any trouble."

With that thought, he turned and swiftly disappeared, leaving no trace of his presence. Only the unconscious brute on the ground remained as evidence of his existence.

Watching as the figure vanished from the rooftop, the woman finally calmed her scattered thoughts before looking down at the unconscious brute.

"Take this bastard with us, and call for medical assistance. Also, make sure tomorrow's news is altered."

Quickly issuing orders, the still-stunned team members began carrying out their tasks. The girl took one last glance at the roof before picking up her phone to make a call.

----------------------------------------

Back in the apartment, Sora quietly slipped into his room and collapsed onto the bed. The fact that this world was anything but ordinary had clearly put him on edge, and the scene of the explosion kept replaying in his mind.

"It seems there are things in this world I shouldn't get involved with..."
