Fools And Fortune

I placed the long awaited headset on my head , and went through the first time start up procedure, and logged in. I was met with a unique character screen, thankfully tho there was an option to look as closely like my real self as possible. I skipped through all the techno mumbo jumbo , such as terms of service, and there End User License agreement A.K.A  E.U.L.A.  I went with the human race  and after hitting the accept button found myself looking at the  classes section. This game automatically listed the top five classes a player would excel at . For me the choices were Warlord, Diplomat, Scholar, Echo-Location Specialist, or Grenadier. I mentally clicked on these classs which brought up more information about each class, Warlord gained 10% more firepower and increased damage for themselves and 15% increased damage for all of there allies. Buffs applied while a warlord was present were 15% more effective. I thought about it  then figured after a week or two of playing there would be a metric ton of players running around with this class , so i moved on .  I mentally clicked on Diplomat and saw they recieved 20% more charisma from stats and had 15% more influence when ever charisma skills were used. This seemed totally like a useless class in my opinion, however i was sure someone somewhere would get a big kick out of solving other peoples problems, just not me. I moved on and mentally clicked on scholar, and saw i would be given a 20% bonus to my intellect and wisdom. Also i would get 15% increased experience toward anything i created in game. I realised this class was focused toward players who liked crafting , or making items , weapons armor , jewelery ect. I looked at Echo location specialist , bringing up its information the E.L.S. got 25% additional chance to find items of value. I decided to keep going, and checked out Grenadier. The Grenadier got 30% increased damage to self made explosives and grenades. This seemed like a wonderful class to play at first glance, however i was never one to fall for builds that company's turned into gold sinks. in other words if i chose to be a Grenadier , i would be literally throwing away tons of in game credits while tears fell down my face , nope that class was not for me.

I ended up choosing Echo Location Specialist. I recieved a new system message, Congratulations you are the first player to recieve the Echo location specialist class , and as such have earned a full set of +1 starter items. i looked over the items that appeared in my inventory, i smiled as i equipped my new items. these items werent any thing amazing or any thing special  just a sneeze higher than torn starter items. I opened my blinking skills tab and found to my joy 3 new skill points, I dropped 1 into cartography,  1 into linguistics, and the last into scanning. I said a prayer to god that i didnt just screw my character up to badly. I tried to activate my new scanning ability. I got a new system message, Since this is your first scan and since you are the only echo location specialist in the game currently your scan range is increased by 600% for its first use. i whistled, i knew unique classes had nice perks but wow!.

I ended up literally running into a merchant who dealt in used items, weapons and armor , also known as a junk dealer. The Shop merchant asked me if I would like to try anything out and test some of his items. I looked at him with a wince, sorry i told him i dont have any money on me at the moment, and made to leave. He laid a hand on my shoulder and told me it was fine, i could do a couple of odd jobs for him and that would be that and led me to the Back Yard. There had to be some kind of magic going on because when the door to the back yard slid up, there were litterally miles upon miles of used items . it was like a used item paradise. Granted most of the items had some rust or a bit of wear and tear , but for the most part it mostly seemed safe to use. The Shop keeper told me i could have any item , so long as i helped clean up his office , it was a complete mess. I agreed quickly and we shook hands calling our business settled. i smiled as i flew into the back yard , feeling like a kid at christmas.

I walked past crate after crate, and bin after bin of used items, in all sorts of decay. I picked up a small sword that flickered and then died. i tried to weigh its balance in my hand. i liked how it looked however i wasnt compatible with lightsabers it seemed. I tried on a rusted power suit, and found some of the junk items to be working while others seemed totally drained of power. I ran through all the rusted debris and once i climbed up on top of the largest object i clicked my scan ability and hit accept. A nova of bright gray energy shot out of my body enveloping and encompassing the entire back yard with its light. I recieved a notification to check my mini map and i did so , i noticed 3 slowly flashing icons and headed out to find them. I followed the mini map untill i was infront of a rusted hollowed out mech like machine, i walked inside and noticed the flashing light coming from a hole on the inside. i put my hand through the opening and it closed around a metalic handle . I tried to pull on the handle but it wouldnt move, only the side panels moved when i pulled . i rummaged through the closest items around me untill i found a metal pole and forced it into the hold and pried the item loose . I was greeted with a beaten up slightly rusted metal suitcase about the size of a guitar case. I tried to open it but for what ever reason , either rust or from the dents this thing wouldnt open. I sighed heavily , and wrapped my hand around another metal pole and lifted , i pulled out a make shift sledge hammer and beat the case untill it landed on its side and an idea occured to me then. I remembered hearing somewhere that hinges were a weak point , so with out another second of hesitation i swung downward with all my stats. A loud Thwang sound came from the object of my irritation. I lifted the top of the case up and was greeted with a message , Congratulations ! you have aquired an item: " Tri-Barreled Lazer Shotgun" Class: Relic , Status : Broken " reason : depleted Power cell. I smiled broadly as I stowed the weapon in my inventory. I moved out in search of the other glowing dots. I moved through a monstrously large robotic creature that looked very similar to godzilla and when i had gotten about half way through it, my mini map lit up glowing brightly . I used my echo scannning skill and found something glowing inside a small fuse box.

The item looked like a small light bulb with green and purple liquid swirling around inside. I inspected the item and gasped , you have found item powercell , status : working. I nearly shat my self from excitement! I pulled the shotgun out from my inventory. I looked the weapon over and found a small button no larger than the width of a single finger and pressed it down. The Tri-barrelled shotgun started to whirrr and slid apart into 2 pieces, revealing a bunch of wires and alot of future technology. I knew one thing while looking at the mess of wires and tubes, if i ever messed with the inside of this thing it would never work again properly !. I peered inside the weapon, and after figuring out more or less where the powercell was suppose to go i placed it , or rather tried to but it wouldnt work . I got so furious I placed the powercell against the shot gun and slammed a large chunk of metal against it , something happened , the edge of the powercell flaked away scraping against the inside of the gun and when the top of the container made contact with the metal pin the gun started to vibrate and whirr , things on its inside started to move slowly , panels lit up and flickered then it put its self back together . I recieved a prompt Congratulations you have received a one of a kind item, as such the items rarity has been upgraded by 1 level. New item rarity level : Artifact.  I inspected how much damage my new weapon could do and was very impressed. Artifact damage bonus 100% , item damage 4,000 - 10,000. I gaped at the item i was now holding . Most of the items in this game had stat or level requirements, but this shotgun had neither i was looking at an honest to God miracle item made especially for me . I tested the weapon out just to be sure and to get a feel for how it would fire when the need arose. I rested the metal stock against my shoulder , feeling the weapons insides hum and whirr , and i pulled the trigger in rapid succesion. I found out i could fire 5 consecutive shots in a row  before it needed a 12 second cool down. This thing had some serious punch behind it .

I placed my now fully functional shotgun into my primary weapon slot, and headed to the last glowing dot. I had a rather harder time with this item,  it turned out to be a chain, however it looked like just an ordinary bicycle chain . Once I managed to wipe it clean I put it around my neck, I received a system prompt , Congratulations, you have obtained the consumable item " Rhubindium Chain of The Main Engineer."  I inspected  the chain, item description, one time use , all cooldown effects for items or skills are removed for 120 seconds after which this item is then destroyed. I smiled as I walked back to the merchant and handed him the shotgun and chain. His eyes went wide and he reverentually took the weapon from my hand. He caressed the side of the weapon to his cheek as a single tear fell from the corner of his droopy eye. Slowly he said , I cant believe one of our greatest weapons would ever survive the Armenian war . I held my hand out , fearful that I wouldnt ever be seeing my new item ever again. He slowly placed it back inside as i closed my hand around it , i placed it back in my primary weapon slot, he smiled back at me an insidious grin spreading over his face , and a dark thought crossed my mind , if he was smiling I probably wouldnt be . The Merchant opened a door off to the side and my mouth fell open at the amount of chaos in that tiny room! It looked like an explosion detonated inside , then a god had summoned a tornado , then combine that with everything levitating then dropping every where possible ! even his chairs were turned upsidedown or sitting on there sides !  . I gritted my teeth , rollled my sleeves up and got to work. When the owner returned after having a 5 hour nap, his eyes grew incredibly wide, he moved closer to his desk and hugged it , a smile so wide was on his face I thought his face would crack and start bleeding .

He whispered , and the papers how did u organise them ? he asked . I replied alphabetically . A lone tear slowly slid down his grimy face as he turned to face me , he said , for giving me something i havnt had in over 40 years . The shop keeper walked over to a small panel and typed in a unique code, and with a few clicks , chirps , and 1 final beep the outline of a closet door appeared and slid open. He reached inside and handed me a unique item : Space Armor . When my hand wrapped fully around it i got a system prompt .! Congratulation you have aquired the unique chest piece Spidermancer's Requiem 1 of 5 pieces from the Spidermancer set. I put my  new armor on and watched myself in a nearby mirror as the outfit shrank to fit me. I opened my stat sheet and felt my jaw drop to the floor, I now had over 1000 health, on top of that i had jumped all the way to level 5, and best of all , The Spidermancer's Requiem set was scalable so i wouldnt need more armor later on , i could keep using it , and it would increase in power as I did. I opened my character sheet and noticed i also had 25 stat points to allocate. I looked to the merchant and asked how I could increase the amount of damage i was suppose to be able to do . He looked at me like i was a retard, and who now fully regretted giving me the shotgun!  He said all I had to do was to just add 1 stat point to my characters strength , or dexterity or agility , then compare the difference in damage versus which stat did the higher damage per point !I thanked the man and shook his hand , in my haste and clumsyness I accidentally knocked over a medium sized wooden box and what I thought was a small mechanical spider emerged . I looked at it in bewilderment , as it became clear it wasnt a spider but a small mobile creature with a small thin turret for a nose. The Merchant exclaimed , so thats where u were hiding my little friend , the mechanical spider climbed over the debris to rest against the mans neck , and nuzzled him affectionatly with its nose turret. He looked at the little thing for a few long seconds and then made up his mind and picked him up and placed him on my shoulder . I immediatly got a prompt Congratulations You have aquired your first Spider, as such you may now choose spidermancer as your characters class , do u wish to choose Spidermancer ? yes / no  i chose yes and was immediatly greeted with a slew of notifications. The merchants eyes widened and he pulled me into a huge hug , welcome to the class kid he bellowed with cheer in his voice !  After a few more minutes of jubilant interacting I shook his hand and thanked him from the bottom of my heart.
