#zts-We have contact!...zzt- Coming up the elevator#, roll ‘im up if possible! ##

“You heard him! GUNS TO THE DOOR NOW!!”
4 high powered assault rifles trained themselves on the closed doors of the elevator as the floor above slowly ticked up.
“Two weeks from retirement so there’ll be no talk back or questioning my orders!”
The silver coated doors slid apart to a civilian looking ‘ganic standing stock still with his arms already raised in surrender.
“STAY TRAINED POSSIBLE NETRUNNER!!”
“You have 5 seconds to comply oth-

Boring.
I could be out there Zeroing some uppity Leadhead’s guns blazing, yet here I am protecting some random offshoot of Arasaka’s from some supposed Militech affiliated team after ‘non-consequential’ documentation.
...The gonks outside haven’t bothered me in a bit... what are the chances one of these cheap punks actually got though the lot of them?
Something flew past my vision while I sat distracted,
a kid, with the black data slate under arm, crashed though the window in the time it took me to reach for my iron.
A sandy!?
They never mention someone with that level of tech! I gotta stop him or they’ll burn the creds, should intersect his path by t-

The bullet cut clean through her head as with a little push her body pitched sidewards out of the room tall window, definitely hitting something on the way down.
Editing LAG for a nondescript rectangle to appear in my hands and a magazine kleped off one of the guards through the window to distract a preem merc was almost too easy.
I picked the dataslate off of the desktop and my arm went to the inner pocket of my jacet where it should fit quite well.

As I drew my hand back out I couldn’t help but notice the violent shakes running across my whole forearm...
“What the-?”
WHY? Sure I iced the bitch, but she was a trained killer!! IT was either her or m-
‘HE wasn’t though?’
I fell to my knees and heaved, throwing vomit across the marble floor.
hOLY FUCK!!
i-i-I blew his fucking brains out!!!!
i-I didn’t -I didn’t even fucking hesitate!??!!?!
“N-name-” I sobbed out, “D-didn’t even THINK of him by name?!?”
He was just your average arrogant Gonk! and- and it was only a problem cause i wouldn’t jus- st- just accept that Hinata moved on.?...
I lay curled up on the floor whispering to my self as I cried out the horror of my own deeds.
“I’m sorry Daigo I’m sorry Daigo I’m sorry...”
It was only moments later that a message form the group broke me out of my stupor.
PULLING OUT NOW!!!
So, with time running tight, I climbed off the floor, pausing only for a moment to watch the sun start to sink below the horizon from the shattered window, and rushed my way back to the elevator.
Sending it up another level and slipping below it, I grasped onto the steel cabling and sent a quick message as i did my best to slid down.
ELIVATOR DOOR
Something promptly blew its way through the lower doors with just enough force for me to slip back out to the ground floor. Even with a large chunk of the security down, there were one or two bullets flying by, although they never made their mark. If any of them had a smart gun we would have been picked off rather quickly.
Outside the building parked and waiting was a lightly armoured van with a row of seats in the back that everyone was climbing into. We only took a couple hits before getting out onto the highway and heading back into Heywood, though tensions stayed high as we drove on.
In my haze, trying to keep myself together, I still managed to notice an empty spot at the front of the truck.
Someone was missing...
I think it was Charles.
After pulling into some random car park, everyone started to pack their owns stuff and head their own ways, the creds would be sent out to us later.
And so I was left to walk my way home under the cover of night, dark clouds giving way to a light, then heavy rain while my jacket offered moderate coverage as I moved form alleyway to alleyway.
I turned a corner to an abandoned backroad.
Standing waiting down the end was William.
What does he want?
Is it about taking too long to leave?
Does he think I deceived him?
Does he know about LAG?!
Did Holo Tell Him!?
I raised my gun in one fluid motion
“Hey J-

“whu-?”
*BANG*
I ran.
Didn’t give any time for his body to drop.
I forced LAG to its limits.
Pushing it to cloak me amongst thousands of falling droplets distorting the light.
It’d fry right through my brain at this rate.
good
I ran with the fear of shadows stalking for my secrets,
for my sins.
I ran with the rain doing nothing to cool the great burning in my head,
in my heart.
And I kept running as a fail safe kicked LAG offline,
and as I fell into puddles,
and pushed past civilians,
and as cars screamed past and the lights turned green.
I don’t remember where I stopped.
I don’t remember why I stopped.
