Chapter 0: Prologue (Changed)

What do you guys think of my new prologue? I am restarting all my starting chapters, changing them from unbelievable actions to a more realistic approach.

Prologue

In front of half destroyed castle with no roof, only the pillars protruding out of the ground as they are laid in a straight line like a hallway. However, the pillar although partially broken, retained part of its past grandeur before the destruction of the surrounding area.

A young woman, kneeling in front of her son, she hugged him. Afraid he would leave her or suffer the same fate as the people surrounding her. This would have made anyone think that this was a normal scene of a mother hugging her 5-year-old son, if not for the scene around them.

Laid around them, were dead bodies of various kinds, not restricted to only humans. Blood flowed in the area as if though it was actually a part of the area like a river. Broken spears, shattered swords, weapons of various kinds the size of a house all stabbed into the ground, creating a hedgehog like patches in the blood river.

The woman was not hugging her son because he was safe, but because she was heartbroken at how she couldn’t protect even her son despite how powerful she was. During the chaotic battle that eventually led to the creation of the bloody river, her son in the chaos died, which made her snap, seeing her son cut down like how a butcher kills a chicken before her eyes. After many hours, she eventually came out on top of the battle, being the only survivor.

Having realised she was alive, normally one would be happy about surviving but her eyes didn’t possess such happiness but those of a dead and lifeless being. She hovered over what remained of her slaughtered son.

She knelt down, grabbing the head and cradled it in her bosom as she cried out with an agonised cry that could only belong to a mother who lost her son. After screaming out her feelings, she stopped when she remembered a way that could bring him back.

“Although it isn’t the only way, it is the only one I can do.

I’m a failure of a mother; even though I am strong it is nothing if I cannot even protect you.”

Having watched her son’s death in such terrifying detail and that was something that would haunt her in her dreams for as long as she lives.

Tears stained her face, with small amount of snot trickling down from her nose as she put the head of her son on the ground. She stood up, held her hand to her chest and closed her eyes, entering a crucial first state of the spell ‘Rebirth’.

‘Rebirth’ a type of spell that is only exclusive to one clan, the Phoenix. It is the Phoenix’s most powerful and valued spell. Even if the incantation for the spell was leaked, nobody can use it besides those who possess sufficient level of Phoenix blood flowing within their veins.

Nobody knows how, but they cannot dispute the fact that this ability is powerful. It is not powerful in regards to offense or defense, no; it is powerful because its ability can revive anyone. Regardless of power difference and circumstances of death, with only complete annihilation of the soul being the only exception of the phoenix not being able to revive. That is because part of their ability is mainly about taking the soul out from the cycle of reincarnation or in the reincarnated state to their previous state.

As such, the clan possess enormous power as powerful individuals are linked with the clan because of that one ability.

However, what no one knows is that, each Phoenix can only revive someone once. After that, they cannot revive another person unless they sacrifice their life in exchange. The mother, who is a member of the Phoenix, possesses this ability and fortunately she still had the one time ability. She intended to use her only one time for her dead son.

For a mother like her, she wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice even her life just so her son could live again. The greatest fear that any mother, even a mother like her who was known as the most deadly, bloody and fearless woman in the realm, shake with fear, the death of their little baby. Especially a baby who has only lived for 5 years old and even worse, having watched his demise before her eyes and how he couldn’t live his life to its fullest as she watched him journey through.

Soon, she laid her hands out. Nothing appeared in her hands until a small blue spark sparked out from her before it took form. It turned into blue flames, although small, the size of a little finger. However, the moment the blue flame appeared, the surrounding area visibly changed. Metals melting down like water trickling down, stones turned black before igniting into flames.

However, despite what happened, the mother, was completely unaffected. Not even her dress was affected in the less. Then on her face, sweat appeared on her face not from the heat that the blue flame emitted but from the sheer exhaustion and complete concentration needed to maintain the spell.

The blue flame flickered about and then with one motion, it hovered towards the head of her son as the flame left her hand.

She then opened her eyes and saw the blue flickering flame stopped flickering about as it turned into a blue orb. She was anxious watching, knowing full well that the orb will take time to find her son.

She was visibly shaking, biting her lips as she waited. Every second that ticked by, seemed like an eternity for her. A minute later, a small crack appeared, as if though that crack was the starting point. Many cracks started to appear all over the orb before it shattered to reveal an equally small blue flame bird.

As if a dam has been destroyed inside her, she knelt down as tears flowed uncontrollably from her eyes when she witnessed the bird being born. She knew her son was going to be alright now since the sign of the blue bird means success, even though the ‘Rebirth’ spell was a 100% success spell. Owing to how much she has been through, even if she remembered that in her disordered state, she would still be worried about the failure of the spell as she showed the worry of a mother.

The blue bird chirped before diving into the young boy’s head. Instantly the surrounding 5 metres erupted into blue flames, the mother knelt next to her son, completely unaffected by the flames. The next moment, the flames converged into the exposed neck of the boy. Soon the blue flames started to take form of the boy’s body as it turned from blue to the body’s lively lustre.

In the blink of an eye, the boy’s body was completely reformed from nothingness. Soon, movement could be detected in her son’s eye. She caught that one movement and hugged his head into her chest. She hugged him for dear life.

After a time of hugging and calming her turbulent emotion, she released her son from her grip.

The small boy, oblivious to what the bloody scene before his eyes meant or how extremely lucky he was considering he had already died, just stared at his mother stupidly before grinning as he pointed at her.

“Hehe mother fell for my tricks hehe.”

Wiping of the tears, she couldn’t help but smile at her son. She knew he was referring to how he would always love to prank people. Especially by throwing a bucket of water at them and she knew that was the reason he was laughing because he has always tried to throw water at her but he has always failed countless times.

“Hehe, finally mother been taken down. Now it’s daddy’s turn.”

She smiled, watching her son strike a dramatic heroic pose despite the scene they were in.

‘My son is such an innocent boy.”

“Mother, why is the ground wet?”

The boy noticed the ground wet with red, he didn’t know it was blood and given how he was five. He figured it was water.

She didn’t hear him as she made plans in her mind.

‘Because of my negligence and arrogance, I have indirectly led to my son dying.

No matter what, such a thing would not be repeated, I will call the little butler over to protect and send him to one of my daughters. While I go and deal with these little shits that destroyed one of my resort homes.

These little shits have big balls, attacking me when I’m least guarded, destroying my house and worse of all, FUCKING KILLING MY SON.’

The moment she mentally spoke the last words, her built up anger erupted out. Drowning her son in her killing intent, who paled as he tried hard to stay standing.

When she noticed her son pale face, she realised her mistake and stopped releasing killing intent. She hugged him and apologised to him, not that he knew what an apology was.

Having made her mind up about what she were going to do and the things concerning her son.

“Son, mother is going to a faraway place ok.”

She couldn’t bear parting with her son, but for his sake, she must in order to protect him while she goes off on a rampage after she goes to the nearby area that had many guards who are under her direct command. After raising an army, she intends to deal with whoever the culprits are.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

She couldn’t find out who the invaders were before, because they wore plain clothing and they numbered so much that her personal guards were dead, leaving her and her son the only survivors. Her personal guards weren’t exactly weak but against so many attacks from everywhere, naturally not everyone could survive.

“Mother, how far away?”

She strained her smile, knowing she couldn’t exactly answer it. So she opted for an excuse about going to find another pet for him since she knew he loved fluffy pets.

“Don’t worry, I’ll come back when—“

She wasn’t able to finish off her sentence before she got cut off.

“Look mother, black dots.”

She stared wide eyes at her son; she knew what he meant by black dots as the last time he said that, that was before the start of the battle that led to their current situation.

She turned around, her eyes narrowed as she saw distinguishable marks that she could identify to know who it was that attacked her. A crest with a rabbit encircling a flower, that is the crest that every single human and beast hovering in the sky wore.

‘So it was them.’

Without a word, she grabbed her son and flew in the opposite direction.

The boy, who was staring at the black dots turning from sparsely covering the sky to blotting out the entire sky, turning the bloody sky into a black night in an instant, suddenly he felt a powerful force assault his face. He felt his skins all over his body, being pulled back as if though the force was trying to pull his skins off. But the worse part was on his face, he could swear he felt his face skin slowly tearing off before the pulling force disappeared.

The mother, in her haste, forgot that her son wasn’t strong enough to withstand the wind pressure and instinctively covered her son in a magic shield. Protecting her son from the pressure, she didn’t need protection from the insane wind pressure while she flew with lightning speed.

The black cloaked pursuers seeing this increased their already fast speed to their utmost limit. Unfortunately, most could only she the woman before she disappeared two minutes later after pursuing, leaving only a handful of black cloaks to keep up with the mother’s insane flying speed.

One of the cloaked figures smirked, before its speed suddenly increased to an astonishing level. With the new speed, the black cloak slowly closed the gap between itself and the mother. The other leftover cloaked pursuers lessened as it decreased to only 3, now there are only 4 cloaked pursuers.

The mother looked back; she noticed that while there are 4 pursuers, she noticed one is getting closer while the others are only able to barely manage to chase after maintaining the same distance.

‘Shit, out of everyone it has to be her. She is the only one from that clan to be faster than me.’

Although she wasn't scared at knowing that the faster one was someone she knew, she had thought about turning around after hours of flying to deal with the four cloaked figures. She had the power and strength to do so, but living through it is another question. Knowing the realm and its state, she knew her son would never last a second before dying.

However, with the addition to her son being so close, she knew that she wouldn't be able to fight all out. Unless she wishes to relive that traumatic experience of her son dying before her eyes to play over again and the added factor that they would use her son as hostage.

However, fate wasn't kind as the faster-cloaked lady was only 100 metres from her. The cloaked lady could have used magic to distract the mother, but she knew it would do more harm to her than to the mother. Because she only managed to obtain this speed by using her natural affinity, lightning to increase her speed, so if she used magic, she will waste it as the speed they were going at, was faster than a magic can fly through.

Unless she uses her ultimate magic, however like all trump cards, it requires time to use it and she knew that with the mother’s keen senses. The mother would take advantage of that split second to kill her and that is something that the cloaked lady doesn’t want to happen.

So the only choice the cloaked lady had was just to continue her pursuing and hopefully force the mother to fight her, which will decrease her speed and hopefully use her son against her, who was cradled in her arms.

‘Tch, even after killing most of our elites, she can still have enough power to escape.

We must capture her or else everything we have done is all for naught.’

She stared daggers at the mother’s back, clearly unwilling to let her run away to safety.

The mother, noticing the cloaked lady, closing the gap between them to 30 metres had no choice but to inject her meagre amount of magic and energy left to increase her speed. Before she could, she noticed someone standing in front of her.

She paled when she saw who it was, a man with black rabbit ears, whiskers twitching every so often and a blood red cloak draped over his entire body. Without hesitation she withdrew a talisman from her ring and activated the ability of the talisman.

Smoke bellowed out from the talisman before it materialised into a black crow. The crow was clearly puzzled as it looked around, however when its sight landed on the black rabbit who was rapidly approaching them. The crow visibly shivered; scared he turned to look at the mother and her son who was in her arms.

The mother seeing the crow sent a telepathic message, which sends information faster than words.

‘Take my son and leave.’

‘But—‘

‘DON’T FUCKING DAWDLE, TAKE MY SON AND LEAVE NOW.’

The crow flew to the son, clawed his back and de-materialised, before he could fully de-materialise the crow was assaulted by a searing pain in its back and the son felt his face burning as blue flames stuck to his face, slowly burning his face off as they both disappeared.

The mother knew that, given the capability of the black rabbit. He could easily kill her in one swing but he didn't do so and that sparked a thought in her mind.

‘If I remember correctly, he probably wants me to revive his dead brother who died.

Since I am going to die anyway, I will injure him.

For my clan.

For my family.

For my son.

DIE!’

During her split second thoughts, she activated a self-destruction spell that will not only destroy her life, but even her soul. Without the soul, she will never enter the cycle of reincarnation, meaning this spell means the end of her life and existence. That is something she wasn’t willing to do, however, given the black rabbit’s temper, she would not have the face to look at her son or the family in the future.

She closed her eyes, as if accepting the fact that she will forever leave the world of existence. Her body turned brightly blue, with flames rapidly seeping out from her body before it exploded in brightness.

The intensity of her self-destruction explosion reached to such an astonishing level that was akin to the explosion of a star. The explosion encompassed the surrounding area, annihilating everything within a 12,000 kilometres radius.

Spatial cracks blotting out the sky like stars as it shuddered under the effect of the explosion, the ground dissipated like nothing and the resulting after-effect of the explosion sent countless shock waves. The shock waves alone sent the massive army of black cloaks who were turning back to go home who were some 20,000 kilometres away from the source of the blast to be sent tumbling and rolling about in the air. With the weaker ones dying, getting sliced up or obliterated by the shock waves.

Not only them, even tribes of various sizes also blown away by such powerful gust of wind that forced them to roll about.

In the midst of the source area of explosion stood two people. Contrary to the mother’s expectation of only one person surviving, another person survived and what would make her shocked, is that not the first person, who is the black rabbit who was in a bloody state surviving but the other person that survived was in an orb, which is the soul form.

The black orb was covered in a faint layer of blue that shuddered before it stabilised. The orb then shook before releasing smoke, the smoke then took form as it materialised. It revealed a stunning beauty that wasn’t one whit inferior to the mother in terms of beauty.

However, when one took a look at her eyes, one could see she was certainly exhausted to the point that she has exhausted her magic and energy just to materialise her body.

The black rabbit was fully healed, but he wasn’t any better as he was exhausted too. He looked at the spot of where the mother was.

“Shit, now that she is dead this is bad.

We can’t win against them unless my brother is alive.”

“Fuck it.

War it is then.”

The woman cursed before flying away, followed by the black rabbit.
