introductory chapter

In the realm of Kingkathars,

The illustrious and mighty sovereign, bearing the name Colossius, now advanced in age, yet expected to preside over this resplendent kingdom of martial valor and warfare for an extended span. Alas, destiny had granted King Colossius a brood of seven daughters. In his wise contemplation, he perceived the ever-present peril that the magnificent throne itself might soon be engulfed in the flames of uncertainty.

In order to perpetuate his dominion and retain supremacy, the king was compelled to seek a worthy successor, a man of qualifications befitting the task of ascending the throne and becoming the esteemed husband of his cherished daughter. Thus, amidst the convergence of sagacious counsels, he resolved to urgently summon those instrumental in shaping the course of this realm. Among them were the esteemed Battle Tactics Advisor, the erudite Weapon Science Advisor, the sagacious Diplomatic Adviser, and the perceptive Consultant for Good Governance Analysis.

After countless days and nights of intense deliberation, the culmination of their enlightened discourse gave rise to a comprehensive synthesis. From the realm's surroundings, fifteen kingdoms were meticulously selected, their worth gauged through the lens of holistic appraisal. Alas, only six among them remained worthy and held significant import. Upon learning of this revelation, the king commenced the drafting of missives, consigning them to the skilled scribes tasked with their faithful transcription. Through the nimble hands of swift couriers, the letters would traverse the expanse of all fifteen realms, beckoning qualified men or princes to assume the mantle of rulership and become suitable consorts for the king's daughter.

The rationale behind seeking a suitor beyond the realm's borders lay in the fact that King Colossius, as one of the five eminent sovereigns, stood alone in his dominion over this land. Though he had inherited his lineage from the preceding monarch, the royal bloodline had suffered contamination with the introduction of slaves into the realm, bequeathed upon him by his thirteenth spouse among his twenty wives from the reign of the previous king. Among the twenty-three chosen progeny, only five had been acknowledged by the preceding monarch as worthy of succession. King Colossius stood as one amongst this esteemed quintet, the sovereign ruler of the present realm.

To be deemed worthy, a candidate must undergo meticulous evaluation, their mettle tested through measures of intellect, prowess in face-to-face combat, and a comprehensive grasp of governance principles. In the end, it was King Colossius who emerged as the sovereign, distinct from the four sons of the previous king who had been granted dominion over the kingdom's four provinces. This discordance has endured till this day, sowing division. It is this very division that dissuaded King Colossius from selecting a suitor from within the realm, for it diminished his own authority to designate his own successor.

And so, the battle for power and the contest for the kingdom's future commenced. The fate of the land lay precariously upon the shoulders of those who sought to claim the throne and win the affection of the king's daughter. Who among them shall emerge as the next sovereign of this great land? Only the passage of time holds
