chapter 3

Just as the man finished his sentence, the bell in the mansion rang. It was time for Isaac to come back. After saying his goodbyes, he ran to the house.

"I need to tell Sir Kelvin about this," the man said to himself.

In the afternoon, Isaac was called by Kelvin. When he entered the room, he saw the old man and the brothers sitting around the table.

"Isaac, please sit," said Kelvin.

"This is Sir Arnold, one of the professors at the Magic Academy. Yesterday he told me about your results, and I was genuinely surprised you had potential in magic, so I would like for you to attend his session along with my sons."

As he said, Akira and Levi started to protest against their father idea, but he didn't acknowledge their complaints instead threatening to end their magic lesson should they try to sabotage Isaac.

"I also did the test with your brother Elen but couldn't use magic, so what do you think it will be at my expense? Think of it as an investment."

Kelvin was trying to encourage Isaac to join.

Isaac, happy with the idea of learning magic, agreed to the proposal.

"That's all I wanted to say. You may leave now."

As Isaac opened the door, his brother, who had been overhearing them, fell, showing himself to everyone in the room. Filled with embarrassment, he ran to his room.

"Our relationship can't be repaired," Isaac thought to himself.

From that day on, whenever Isaac finished his work, he would join Arnold and the two brothers in their magic session, where he showed great patience and learned new ways to use his magic. Unlike him, Akira and Levi weren't as talented. Akira had an affinity for fire magic, while Levi had an affinity for wind. Both of their mana capacities were below average, which made their father more affectionate toward Isaac. Just like his brother, Isaac also began to resent him. Thus, a year had passed without problems until that one day when Isaac's life flipped.

Eric and Harley, Isaac and Elen's parents, came to visit them after a long time. Isaac was in his room using condensed milk when his brother suddenly came running through the door.

"Brother, something terrible is about to happen! you have to hurryAkira,Levi. their going to kill each other You-- you have to stop them," he said.

Isaac, trusting his brother's words, used his shadow magic to teleport to the basement, where he saw Rose covered in blood and in bad shape.

Understanding the situation, he tried to take her to the nurse, but she started screaming and crying, not wanting Isaac to touch her. That's when Kelvin, Eric, Harley, Elen, and the two brothers, accompanied by twenty knights, came in.

"What do you think you're doing to my daughter?! Get away from her this instant," Kelvin said enraged.

"I told you he was planning on killing Rose," said Elen.

At that moment, Isaac understood what had happened. Elen, who had the same appearance as Isaac, traumatized her by torturing her, which made her scared of Isaac. While Elen was trying to get Isaac to the basement, the brothers told their father that Isaac was about to kill Rose, so he came to check. Isaac tried to explain the situation to Kelvin, but it was to no avail. His father, on the other side, realized that Isaac wasn't the one behind it since there wasn't a drop of blood on his clothes. But they had the choice to either speak up to Kelvin or risk losing their relationship with him in case he didn't believe them. They chose the second option. Behind them, Levi, Elen, and Akira were smiling at the current situation of Isaac.

"Guards, catch him," said Kelvin.

Isaac knew that he couldn't beat 20 knights on his own, so as they rushed at him, he teleported out of the mansion. As he looked at it for the last time, he swore that he would take revenge on the people who put him in this state. He then started to run, hoping to get far enough from that place.

After ten hours of constant running, Isaac couldn't take it anymore and collapsed, gasping for air. Now, what he thought to himself was that he had some money that he got from working in the mansion, but there were no cities around, His only option was to continue walking and hope that he finds one.

After resting, he began to search, and after some time, he found a river. After drinking and washing his face, he used his shadow magic to detect the shadows of nearby creatures. He felt the shadow of what seemed to be a girl pretty close by, so he decided to go look for her in case she knew where the closest city is. As he began to make his way to her, he saw a young girl around his age. She had pink hair and brown eyes that shone brightly. For some reason, Isaac felt a sense of relief seeing her, but he soon snapped back into reality and tried to come closer to her in response.

Seeing him back, she was suspicious of him; why wouldn't she be? He was but a stranger in her eyes.

"Who are you?" she asked.

"Hello, my name's Isaac, and I got lost after separating from my parents. Could you tell me where the closest city is?" he replied.

Although what he said was a lie, he felt that telling her the full story would just be troubling.

"I'm sorry, I don't know where it is, but my father might know. He is currently not here but will come back in a week, so if you stay here until he comes, I'm sure he would tell you," said the girl.

Her words seemed sincere, and although waiting for her father to come back would imply that he needed to survive in the forest on his own for a week, it didn't seem to bother him that much since he didn't have a better choice.

As the days passed, Isaac developed a routine where he would hunt animals and cook them, then meet up with the girl who he found out was called Eris at the exact place every day and talked about how a friendship had formed between the two of them. Isaac began to trust her and open up to her. Everything was going great until the day before the arrival of her father.
