The ceiling of the hospital room was a bit different from yesterday when I got admitted. My breath are heavy and short as if something is pressing against me. These weakened body of mine won’t hold on much longer, sharp pain running through my chest as if it was a blade. Doctors and specialist rushing in and out of my room trying to keep me conscious. But all of the efforts done are in vain. My sight slowly failed me, followed by other senses. Everything finally dissolved into darkness. My heart slowly come to a static and my vision fell into a place where nothingness is the answer.
Surprisingly, I felt extremely light and cold in this void of nothingness. I gaze upon the abyss trying to accept my fate that I’m no longer alive. I had neither family nor friends, all alone. “What a shitty life that I’ve gone through these past 30 years” I muttered.
Alone……..
Suddenly I felt warmth penetrating through my body,my gaze fixed to a blinding light in front of me that gradually increased in size
The light envelops me as I am incapable of doing anything. My body started to heat up, followed with a heavy sensation.
I slowly regain my senses. “It’s warm, uncomfortably warm”-the first thing that came into my mind, it seems that I’ve caught a flu. I slowly opened my eyes. I’m laying on a rather unfamiliar cozy bed. The surroundings of the room reminds me to the medieval times of Europe that I used to see on tv. It was dimly lit due to the heavy rain outside. I felt a soothing presence inside this room, unsure who or what caused it, I took a glance towards my right
Turns out it was a silver haired woman who fell asleep beside the bed while holding my hand firmly, she looked exhausted. Who is she? Is she my mom? wife? or girlfriend? I couldn’t stop my train of thoughts, unbeknownst to me, I shook her up. She rubs her eye that screams of fatigue. The guilt stabs me indefinitely for waking her up.
When she opened her eyes, tears start streaming down her pale cheeks as the trickling rainfall filled the void of the night.I felt even more guilty from witnessing such a sight.
“Thank goodness you’re okay...” She hugged me tightly as if she was afraid of losing me. ”Please don’t make me worried again ok?“ the sobbing silver-haired woman said . I was touched by her heartwarming hug. She slowly stroke my silky long hair while rubbing her cheek against mine.

WAIT A MINUTE!!!
Silky long hair???
I grabbed my hair. It’s shoulder-length.“She’s not bluffing, I really had a long silky hair,” I said to myself. The only difference is the color, mine aren’t silver like the woman in front of me. It is just your typical black coloured hair.
I’m so puzzled with my new environment and appearance. The woman noticed it. She said “It seems like you had severe amnesia, judging from your reaction”
“Amnesia??”
”yes,I’m not the one qualified to say why but I don’t mind telling you from zero”
“who am I?”
”Liz, your full name is Elithia Ailith Dedrick my dear”
“are you my mother?”
”yes”
!!!! a mother!! All this time I live with nobody that cared about me, save the nurse on the hospital back then. And now, I have such lovely and wonderful mother. My tears started to fall and I hugged this woman who is now my mother. She shed her tears as well.
After a few chat with my mother I fall asleep on her sweet embrace

Few days have passed and the flu has subsided. Mother decided to bring me to a river near our house. The scenery is breathtaking. Crystal clear water, green shrubs, huge old trees struck by the morning sunlight. It’s like something out of a fairytale. I couldn’t hold my urge back anymore. Gone are the days of spending my time on the hospital bed without being able to freely move around. I immediately jumped to the river. The water is freezing cold. Refreshing. That’s the first thing that came to my mind when I first dipped in. The river is also deeper than I previously thought, around my waist. For the first time I felt relieved, and also happy at the same time.
Though there are few things that bothers me. The fact I was reborned as a girl. My dad from this world had died from battle, the existence of magic was mostly to blame for his death. I was supposed to have an older brother but he died from the plague that swept this area not so long ago.
As my mind tries to process the current reality I’m in, I felt a warm sensation that enveloped me from behind. My mother hugged me with her warm, loving grace.
”you seem to be troubled, was it because you can’t remember anything about your father and brother?”
I shook my head indicating I’m not worried about the past, I replied “ Magic. Mom, do you have any magic books? I want to learn a bit of it, can I learn them?”. Mother seems surprised by my sudden interest. It turns out that before falling sick, the “true Liz” was traumatized by magic due to her father’s death. “the one who knew magic is your father but I’m certain that there's books and grimoire inside the basement. You could learn one thing or two about the basic fundamentals of magic.” my mother replied with a calming smile.
It is decided then, my interest to this world and its journey begins here.
