Ooh Armor

Sebas and I made our way down the grand hallway of the mansion, heading toward the armory. The anticipation of seeing my own armor had me eager, despite the strange circumstances I found myself in. As we walked, I couldn’t help but imagine what kind of imposing, battle-worn armor I might be donning soon. Something epic, no doubt.

When we finally arrived at the armory, Sebas pushed open the heavy wooden doors with ease, and I stepped inside, expecting to see something magnificent. But as my eyes landed on the suit of armor displayed in the center of the room, my excitement evaporated instantly.

The armor was a mess. Cracks ran along its surface like spiderwebs, and the most shocking part was the massive hole right in the center of the chest plate. It looked like it had seen better days.

“M-my armor...?” I asked, my voice a mix of disbelief and disappointment.

Sebas, ever the calm and composed butler, stepped forward and examined the armor. “This, my lord, is the result of your battle with the lich. The armor absorbed a tremendous amount of damage during that fight, hence its current state.”

I stared at the battered suit, feeling a pang of disheartenment. “So, it’s not usable anymore?”

Sebas shook his head solemnly. “Unfortunately, no, my lord. The armor has been severely compromised. Even if you were to wear it now, it wouldn’t provide the protection it once did.”

I sighed, my excitement from earlier now completely deflated.

“Can it be repaired, at least?”

Sebas turned to me with a serious expression. “This is no ordinary armor, my lord. It was crafted by the dwarves—masters of their craft. Repairing it isn’t something just any blacksmith can do. It requires not only exceptional skill but also a deep understanding of the craftsmanship involved. The process would need to be overseen by a master dwarven blacksmith, someone with the talent to restore it to its prime.”

“So, we’d have to find a dwarf who’s capable of that, huh? I was really hoping to get suited up today.”

Sebas offered a small, reassuring smile. “Do not be disheartened, my lord. Though the armor is in need of repair, there are other options available to us. We can seek out a skilled dwarven blacksmith when the opportunity arises. In the meantime, we can make use of other equipment that is still in good condition.”

I nodded, trying to lift my spirits. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. It’s just… it’s a bit of a letdown, you know?”

Sebas nodded understandingly. “Indeed, my lord. But rest assured, we will do what’s necessary to see your armor restored to its former glory.”

With a deep breath, I resolved to focus on the bigger picture. “Alright then. Let’s see what else we have in here that I can use for now.”

Sebas led me to another section of the armory, where various other weapons and armor were stored. Though my own armor might have been out of commission for now, I'm sure I'll fine something that'll catch my eye!

Sebas nodded, his usual stoic demeanor intact. “Indeed, my lord. We have several other sets that might be to your liking. Allow me to show you.”

He walked over to a nearby rack and pulled out the first set of armor. My eyes widened in disbelief as I took in the sight of it. The entire suit was clad in bright pink, from head to toe. It was almost blinding.

“This armor,” Sebas explained with a straight face, “has exceptional durability. It’s nearly impervious to most physical attacks.”

I stared at the pink monstrosity, my mouth slightly agape. “W-why do I even have that? Is there any other more?”

Sebas didn’t miss a beat, nodding in understanding. “Very well, my lord. Perhaps this next set will suit you better.”

He moved to another stand and revealed the second option. My jaw dropped again, but for a completely different reason. This armor was extravagant, to say the least. It was adorned with roses and flowers, looking more like a walking bouquet than a piece of protective gear. Sebas, still completely serious, added,

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

“This armor offers excellent protection against mental attacks. The floral patterns are known to soothe the mind and prevent manipulation.”

I pinched the bridge of my nose and sighed. “Sebas, I’m trying to intimidate my enemies, not invite them to a garden party. Hard pass.”

Unfazed, Sebas moved on to the third option. This time, the armor was gleaming in gold, every inch of it polished to perfection. I had to admit, it looked pretty cool—like something a king might wear. But as I reached out to touch it, I hesitated.

“Isn’t this a bit… expensive? What if it gets damaged? Just thinking about the repair costs is giving me a headache. Plus, wearing this feels like I’m advertising that I’m a rich showoff.”

Sebas simply nodded, as if expecting my reaction. “Indeed, my lord. It is quite costly and would require significant maintenance. Perhaps something simpler, then?”

After going through a few more options, each more outlandish than the last, I finally spotted a set of armor that caught my eye. It wasn’t flashy or extravagant—just a solid, well-made suit with a white beast fur cape. It looked classy, strong, and most importantly, not ridiculous.

I pointed at it, a sense of relief washing over me. “That one. I’ll go with that.”

Sebas nodded approvingly. “An excellent choice, my lord. The white beast fur adds a touch of elegance, and the armor itself is well-balanced for both protection and mobility.”

Finally, feeling satisfied with my decision, I grinned. “At least I won’t look like a walking joke in this.”

Sebas, ever the professional, simply smiled. “Indeed, my lord. You will cut a fine figure in battle.”

With that, I geared up, feeling a lot better about my choice. It might not be the most powerful armor in the collection, but at least I wouldn’t be mistaken for a bouquet or a golden statue.

After settling on the armor, my thoughts naturally drifted to the next essential piece of the puzzle, my weapon. If I’m going to be fighting off whatever this world throws at me, I’ll need something reliable. And let’s be honest, a sword is the classic choice. It’s simple, effective, and doesn’t make me look like I’m compensating for something.

“Sebas,” I began, turning to him with a hint of curiosity, “what about my weapon? The one I used in the past, where is it?”

Sebas’s expression shifted slightly, a hint of regret in his eyes. “My lord, the weapon you wielded was unfortunately broken during your battle with the lich.”

I felt a spark of irritation flare up. “That lich again? How powerful was it that it managed to destroy both my armor and weapon?!”

Sebas chuckled softly, his usual calm demeanor returning. “Not powerful enough to defeat you, my lord. The weapon may have broken, but you emerged victorious.”

“Seriously...”

Sebas led me to another part of the armory, where an array of weapons was displayed. I was expecting to see a selection of swords, maybe something sleek and elegant, or perhaps a sturdy longsword. But when Sebas revealed the collection, my jaw nearly hit the floor.

There wasn’t a single normal sword in sight. Instead, I was greeted with a lineup of massive greatswords and enormous lances, each one looking more like a piece of medieval siege equipment than a weapon for a human-sized combatant. I stared in disbelief.

“Sebas,” I began slowly, “these… these are a bit, uh, excessive, don’t you think?”

Sebas, as composed as ever, nodded thoughtfully. “Indeed, my lord. These weapons were crafted for maximum damage and intimidation. They are not ordinary swords, but rather weapons that reflect your strength and prowess.”

I blinked a few times, still trying to wrap my head around it. “I don’t even know how to fight with a greatsword that’s bigger than I am! I mean, am I supposed to swing it or ride it into battle?”

Sebas’s lips twitched, possibly the closest he’s come to a smile all day. “With your strength, my lord, wielding such a weapon would be no problem at all. I still remember your stature as you effortlessly cut down hundreds of enemy with one slash of your great sword, my lord.”

I blinked several times. "I d-did that?"

Sebas nodded solemnly. “Indeed, my lord. Your prowess with the greatsword was legendary. Perhaps your memory of it has faded, but your skill with such weapons is unparalleled.”

I stared at the greatsword again, now with a mixture of awe and nervousness. “Well, if I used to be that good, I suppose I can’t back down now. Hehehe."

As I stood there, contemplating the enormous greatswords that were now my responsibility, a nagging thought tugged at my mind. The idea of mastering a greatsword without any recollection of how I used to wield one was a bit unsettling.

I turned to Sebas, a hint of concern in my voice. “Sebas, I’m a bit worried. What if my memory of how to use the greatsword doesn’t come back? Is there any way I can improve or get better at it without that past experience?”

Sebas, ever composed, met my gaze with a reassuring look. “My lord, there is no need to worry. While your memories of past skills may be hazy, you still possess the innate ability and strength required. I will be here to support you every step of the way.”

I raised an eyebrow, curious. “Support me how?”

Sebas gave a slight bow, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. “As your personal training partner, my lord. I will assist you in honing your skills with the greatsword. With regular practice and guidance, you will surely regain your proficiency and perhaps even surpass your previous capabilities.”

My spirits lifted at his words. “That’s good to hear. I’ll need all the help I can get.”

Sebas nodded. “Of course, my lord. Consider it my duty to ensure that you achieve your best. Together, we will restore and exceed your former prowess with the greatsword.”

I felt a surge of relief and motivation. With Sebas’s support, I was confident that I could overcome this challenge. “Alright then, let’s get started. I’m ready to put in the work.”

Sebas’s expression turned serious once more, but with an undertone of encouragement. “Very well, my lord. We shall begin your training immediately.”

But I keep forgetting that... Sebas isn't just any ordinary butler.
