You have found [Shinzan Town]! It has been set as your default Respawn point!
for three in-game days: you will not be able to leave the town in order to allow you to familiarize yourself with the controls but you can still accept quests
Hayato read the information window in front of him. He was expecting something of a tutorial but seeing as the game had multiple expansions already; the need of a ‘physical’ tutorial was not needed and could be accessed from the help option in the player menu.
Hayato looked around him. He could see many different players in different types of armor. He could hear players calling out to trade, to party up or to recruit players into guilds. He could smell the clean air of the frontier town as well as the smell of the food being cooked by [Chef] profession players.
Hayato, seeing as it was his first time experiencing a full mind-dive, was surprised at the detail the people who made [Kismet Online] did on the world, the avatars, the NPCs and he couldn’t wait to see how realistic the world outside of the town he was in.
Hayato took a step but he felt something amiss. He took another step and again he felt that something was amiss. He could hear far better than when he was in the real world, he could smell even the slightest change in the food scents and he felt something amiss behind him. He looked over his shoulder to see nine white, fluffy tails.
“…”
He tried moving them one-by-one and without flaw it worked. He moved them again but this time in pairs of two and it still worked.
“I thought I was supposed to only have one tail?” He mumbled but nonetheless accepted his fate and just kept swaying his tails left and right as he familiarized himself with the town; though he did find the stares of the other players to be annoying though.
“Hey, is that a new player?”
“Why does he have nine tails?”
“I thought only the NPCs could get nine tails?”
“Could he be a new NPC?”
Hayato now understood, even if just slightly, how NPCs feel when they are not seen as people so from now onwards he felt the need to treat them like real people.
“Hey, the nine-tailed brother over there~” Hayato stopped and turned his head towards the owner of the voice. What he saw was an elf with silvery white hair in a maid dress carrying a heavy package. “Can you help?”
you have been asked to help the elven maid to carry some packages. Will you accept?
Hayato simply pressed yes in his mind and the quest got accepted. He saw that the girl was actually carrying two more bags of groceries.
“Can you help me get these packages to the restaurant on the end of the street?” The silver haired elf asked with round eyes, probably trying to use her feminine appeal to get him to work. Seeing as he was stuck in the town for three in-game days, Hayato shrugged and took the groceries form her hands.
“I’m Hayato by the way so don’t call me ‘nine-tailed brother’”
The silver haired maid smiled apologetically and led the male towards the restaurant.
From this quest, he kept getting called out by NPCs that needed some help in carrying objects, packages, mail and even heavy boxes. Most of them required more than his two hands so he used his tails.
“Hey nine-tailed brother, can you help me carry these boxes to the storehouse?”
“Nine-tailed brother, can you help me send this mail to the aunty who lives at the end of the street?”
“Nine-tailed brother, mind helping a poor old woman get to her house?”
“Nine-tailed brother, I have some things that need to be carried. Can you help me again?”
Before Hayato knew it; he was going here and there doing odd jobs from carrying stuff to fixing roofs and stairs and walls. He never realized that there were multiple notification icons that appeared in his lower left corner of his vision.
“Thank you, Hayato. Here’s some copper to for your work”
“Thanks for helping; we couldn’t have finished this without you”
“Appreciate the help, Hayato. Here, some copper for your troubles”
“You’re an awfully helpful adventurer, aren’t you Hayato?”
Hayato smiled and went on his way. He was grateful novice players were exempt from feeling tired and hungry. When he first entered the game, it was late morning but now after doing those various odd-jobs: it had become late afternoon just before dusk. Then did he realize the notification box in his lower left vision. He opened it to see what it was going to tell him.

Hayato was surprised. He didn’t think that he would be given a lot of EXP and even contribution points. Then he noticed another notification.

He even received a title that will always be beneficial. From what he read: even if he did not equip the title, he would still get its benefits so he needn’t show titles he was afraid that might catch attention.
“I guess you can get titles by just simply doing things…” Hayato mumbled and brought up his status window to assign his free status points. He also noticed the increase in his STR, AGI and DEX as he helped the people. The three stats had 20 more status in them than the other status.

Hayato closed the window and proceeded to walk around the town. He would occasionally help the people that needed to carry their groceries and he even helped with cooking. Because he had been using his tails a lot, he had even gained nine extra weapon slots for his tails meaning he could use them as his limbs to fight.
You have obtained a life skill: Cooking!

======================================
Somewhere within the city, a red head wearing standard leather armor was walking around in town after just logging in. Her pale white skin contrasted with her crimson mane and her golden irises glowed slightly in the almost dark area.
“Hayato is such a kind boy”
“Yeah, he even helped me fix my roof.”
“Brother Hayato helped carry grandma back home!”
“Hayato even helped with cleaning the shop”
She had been walking for minutes now and every time she passed by a NPC; they would always mention a nine-tailed [Foxling] called Hayato.
‘This is somewhat odd… this player has the same name as my instructor in the Ichiharu Dojo… he could not have started playing [Kismet Online] did he?’ The red head thought as she passed by another pair of NPC that also mentioned the [Foxling].
She passed by a few stalls selling food prepared by players with the [Chef] profession. Even after playing the game for a month, she could not believe that all that she was feeling was just collected data from the real world. It felt so real that sometimes people would confuse Virtual Reality with real reality which was very bad in a way.
She stopped in front of a fountain located in the very middle of [Shinzan town].
“Where could she-” “Big sister Yuka!” The red head almost fell into the fountain when she felt a small figure jumped and clung onto her shoulders.
“Hello to you too Ame, would you mind getting off my shoulders?” Yuka petted the head of the small girl clinging onto her neck that nodded and did as she was asked to. Yuka turned around and saw a little girl wearing the standard novice player armor of a simple blue shirt and black pants and boots.
“Today is the day I can leave the town!” The little girl called Ame declared happily causing the older female to smile. The girl before her was a new student of the Ichiharu Dojo. Having long dark brown hair and an innocent face, the girl was quickly welcomed by even the most fearsome instructor: Hitogami Ichiharu. Just like in the dojo, the girl before her did not change any appearance in-game and stuck with her real looks.
“I guess we can go hunting together now. Are you ready?” The little girl nodded towards her.
“Then we’ll first let you fight your first monster before we gradually increase the difficulty of your training.” Yuka declared as she invited the little girl to party up with her.
You have made a party! Ame has accepted the invitation and now you are the leader!
“Let’s-huh…?” Yuka’s vision suddenly fluctuated. “What’s happening…?” She looked towards the little girl who suddenly fell onto the ground. “Ame…” she called out to the girl before she too fell unconscious.

Hayato felt chipper now that he had obtained three skills in which he knew was going to be useful.
“Hayato-chan, can you help me with the store? I’ll teach you some skills so you can help~” An elderly tailor called out to him as he was passing by. Since it was a chance to learn tailoring, Hayato quickly accepted and it took him three in-game hours to help with the tailoring.

Hayato went out of the tailor shop and looked up at the sky to see it was already night. Brought up his player menu and saw that it had been two hours since he had player and currently it was 12 am in-game time. Since his body and mind still continued to follow the real world time; he did not feel tired at all.
“I guess two hours equals to one day here…” Hayato mumbled and looked at his status again.

He smiled. He had achieved a lot today so he was about to log out when his vision fluctuated and a sinister smiled appeared in his vision before it turned back to normal albeit a bit static. He blinked. “What… was that?” Hayato was about to ignore it when his body felt heavier as well as his consciousness leaving him. “Wait…” Just like the players around him: he fell unconscious with a thud.
