Gorex awoke with a throbbing headache. Yesterday he and his party had finished a difficult rank B quest that finally allowed them to advance to A rank adventurer. To celebrate they had gone to the local tavern and after several drinks he decided it was a good idea to have a drinking contest with a dwarf. It was not. Regaining his senses he made his way to the Adventurers Guild to meet up with his party. Gorex is a 'Warrior' who leads his party, the other members are Kratun a Swordsman that assists him fighting in close combat, Adiel a 'Priest' who provides healing and body enhancing magic, Zaressa a Mage provides devastating large scale fire magic and Zip a 'Hunter' detects and disables traps and ambushes whilst supplying support with his bow. With the group gathered together they went to view the Notice board is see what quests are available.
Various quests were pinned to the Notice board in the guild and Adventurers earned a living by carrying out these quests. The quests are classified into levels of difficulty from F, E, D, C, B, A, S, and SS. When Adventurers register with the Adventurers Guild they are assigned rank F, they can only attempt quests that are their rank or lower and increase their rank by fulfilling quests, although failing quests can lead to your rank decreasing. Higher ranked quests had higher rewards but the difficulty was also higher. Although there were very few adventures with a rank S or above. Even less had SS rank, with only three adventures from the Hotan Kingdom. Most quests are simple monster extermination, item gathering or guarding merchants traveling between towns and cities.
Having just been promoted to A rank the party wished to find an exciting A rank quest. Ignoring all the standard type quests they browsed some of the more unique ones until deciding to take an A ranked rescue quest. The daughter of a rich noble had been attacked by bandits during her travels. They fled into a near by cave for safety but with the bandits tracking them they had to delve deeper into the cave until they discovered a large cavern with a ruined city in it. Having been caught up to by the bandits they once again fought, however the ruined city was not empty and noise of the battle attracted a hoard of goblins and orcs. With the bandits distracted the daughter escaped but became trapped in the city unable to get out past the goblins and orcs and to make matters worse the hoard is ruled by a huge twin-headed ogre. Skilled trackers had confirmed she is still alive and a group of the nobles knights have been sent to rescue her but none returned.
The group looked at the request with excitement, the idea of rescuing a damsel in distress igniting their adventuring passion. Ogres are powerful monsters and a twin-headed variant is likely to be even stronger but the party had confidence in their strength and experience and decided to accept the quest at the front desk. They were currently in Hotan City, the capital city of the Hotan Kingdom. The cave was outside of Siine Village which would take a month to travel to on foot. Thankfully they could use Teleporting Magic to open portals so you can travel there instantly. Teleporting Magic can only travel small distances and only to specific places, Siine Village was much to far to travel to, however Hotan City is home to the University of Magic who have permanent portals to all the cities, towns and villages in the kingdom. They only go one way and will have to walk most of the way back but it still cuts down on alot of the traveling time. Traveling through the portal they passed through the village and quickly arrived at the caves entrance. As they traveled deeper into the cave Zaressa noticed strange runes marking the walls however was unable to understand their meaning. The party was awestruck as they entered the vast ruined city. The building had clearly not been lived in for decades and they noted the architecture did not match any human, elf or dwarf city they had ever seen.
As they descended into the city goblin scouts alerted the hoard of them and the party prepared for combat and a group of Hundreds of orcs and goblins attacked from the front. Goblins are generally weak monsters being ranked E by the guild although their large numbers usually have them in D ranked quests, quests involving Orcs are also usually D ranked. Against the A ranked Adventurers they didn't stand a chance, however the party quickly noticed a problem. The goblins and orcs had black tattoos covering their bodies and their dead kept getting up. Undead. Undead are almost immortal, thankfully they have one very big weakness, Fire, against a fire mage undead can easily be killed even in large numbers. Even if they are weak, large numbers of enemies drains alot of stamina to continue fighting and the advantage could easily be lost. To quickly finish the fight Gorex ordered Zaressa to unleash 'Inferno' her highest large scale fire magic. It is a tier seven fire spell that takes time to chant however once cast it quickly eliminated several hundred orcs and goblins. The party stopped to recover stamina and mana whilst Zip made sure no enemies were nearby and tried to locate the nobles daughter. After resting and being unable to locate her they went deeper into the city. Several groups of undead goblins and orcs attacked but was quickly destroyed by the party as they advanced. As they arrived at the other end of the city they noticed a long dark hallway to dark to even see the other end.

Before they was able to approach the hallway a huge twin-headed ogre let out a fearsome roar. Ogres are normally A ranked monsters, however this one was a twin-headed variant and to top if off also hand the black tattoos indicating it was undead aswell. The adventurers did not panic however, their life long experience as adventurers had taught them that panicking only leads to a quick death, and readied themselves for the attack. The ogre charged the group with frightening speed, ogres are not smart even by goblin standards but they are incredibly strong. As the ogre swung its club towards Gorex he raised his shield to defend against the attack however on impact he was sent flying backwards into a wall losing an incredibly 80% of his health. As Adiel began healing him, Gorex stood once again to attack the ogre when more undead appeared from behind the ogre. The undead were neither orcs nor goblins, they were humans, the nobles Knights that had gone missing and with them was the nobles daughter. Apparently the hunters who reported her alive were wrong, she is dead, or rather undead. With Gorex fighting the ogre and Kratun fighting the knights, Zaressa had time to once again chant and cast Inferno. After witnessing its strength the party were actually glad the ogre had been undead and weak to fire. If it had been alive it would likely have been an extremely difficult fight.
After defeating the Ogre, Zip stared ahead down a long dark hallway. Even with his enhanced eye sight he could not see and Zaressa had to use fire magic to light the way. Zip could sense no presence so the group decided to investigate. This cave was likely a dungeon and the ogre the dungeon boss. With the quest a failure they wanted to atleast make a profit gathering treasure. Expecting the hallway should lead to treasure they preceded to walk the hallway until finally entering a large open space. Still too dark to see much Zaressa cast a large scale light spell and illuminated the hall. It was a grand throne room, in its day it would have easily rivaled that of kings, but like the rest of the city it was now in ruins. As they walked towards the center of the room Zip was shocked to see someone sitting in the throne. His ability to detect others was one of the highest in the kingdom but he was unable to sense this person even though he could clearly see them sitting infront of him. Sitting in a grand stone throne sat a young girl who appeared to be not even in her twenties, she had beautiful white skin and short shoulder length black hair, whilst wearing elegant black robes with gold trimmings that would not look out of place amongst nobles. She looked almost human if not for the two black horns protruding from her forehand and a thin scaly black tail coming from behind her that had a sharp arrow like tip. As we cautiously approached, her eyes opened revealing deep red eyes that looked straight at them. Looking into the empty uncaring eyes fear took over, whatever this girl was she was seriously dangerous.
Instinctively the party got into battle mentality. Gorex rushed forward with his sword drawn accompanied by Kratun. Adiel cast strengthening magic on them as Zaressa launched fireballs and Zip fired poisoned arrows. The girl didn't even move, she just continued to watch as if she wasn't even involved in the fight. The arrows simply bounced of her flesh not even leaving a scratch, the fireballs were also ineffective. Kratun raised his greatsword above his head and slammed down with all his strength. As the sword made contact bones could be heard shattering and blood sprayed forth, however it was not hers. She hadn't even flinched from the impact of the sword that bounced of her flesh. The impact of the sword hitting the immovable girl had broken both Kratuns hands, bones could be see sticking out as blood continued to flow. As Adiel healed Kratuns hands the party backed off unsure how to proceed against the monster that was ignoring them. As they are about to retreat the girl stood up, picked up the sword Kratun had dropped and threw it back at him piercing his chest and killing him instantly. Rage took over the group who began attacking with everything they had against the girl. They had been so focused on her that it was too late when they noticed that Kratun had stood up and stabbed Zip in the back. Both Kratun and Zip had now become undead, Kratun changed at Gorex whilst Zip killed Adiel with arrows. Only Gorex and Zaressa remained against their undead party members and the unknown monster girl. Knowing that victory was impossible Gorex ordered Zaressa to begin casting Teleport Magic. Despite Gorexs best effort to protect Zaressa whilst she cast the magic he was slowly being pushed back and died just as she cast the spell. Seeing everyone of her party killed she quickly fled to the portal however she was not as quick as Zips arrows. bleeding from the would and succumbing to the poisoned arrows she looked up at her former party members who thrust their blades into her body killing her. In her final moments she looked over to the monster girl that was looking at the portal, just as she was about to die, the girl stepped into the portal.
