In the middle of nowhere, large threatening sounds of horses clopping down on the dirt can be heard miles away.
With a swipe of my arm, the army stood before me halted it's march in a synchronous and sophisticated manner.
"My lord, I have already notified the rear party" An androgynous male in his 20's with black hair and bangs split, riding a horse approached me, this man had been with me since the dawn of my kingship.
Well to be frank slightly before I was crowned but nonetheless he was a vital part of my upbringing.
"Good, as expected from my right-hand man... Targun." I clenched my teeth.
"Yes my lord?" He tilted his head but expressed no emotions.
"I may or not perish in this war, but for my kingdom and for my people, I will see this through it's end, I'll throw away my life in the process of doing so!"
"I will be by your side my lord, 'till I draw my last breath."
I gazed upon the horizon as a large approaching force comes barreling down, they encroached the width of the horizon leaving the sun in their wake, but the one that piqued my interest is not the massive army coming our way but the one on front, the figure that approached boldly crossed the distance upfront, he was a middle-aged man yet had a bustling white beard, I threatened my eye's to meet his but as I stared into his eyes I saw-Not fear, Not bloodlust Nor sadness. It was emptiness, It felt like emotions were swirling in his mind but had to keep it together for the pride and fortitude of his peers.
I drew in a sharp and long breath before raising my broadsword and pointed it towards their leader.
"Soldiers!, in front of us is our enemy we've reckoned!, Die now or die later! which will you choose!, Surrender to the enemy and become their pawn as waste's of war?! or prove your undying pride for our people and be known as legends or heroes in the history books!?!"
Silence. tension grew, they looked at each other through the cracks of their helmet. I started sweating thinking if I delivered a good enough speech 'ahh, why are you all so silent?' I thought to myself, Did that not get their blood pumping?
"yeah... yeAAHHH!!" One man screamed raising his sword upward, soon another after another, large groups came suit, before long the message had even been received to all directions.
"I expect nothing less from you, My lord" His words were deafened a bit but I still heard it clearly, Scratching the back of my head before replying.
"Ehehe... Well it's thanks to you, I needed to work on my vocabulary after all..."
Truth be told I didn't make up that line, Targun being the devoted servant he was wrote a five page essay for me describing my 'highlights' after looking at it once I could already tell what the rest holds...
"What the hell? Some of these statements didn't even happen... I don't remember saving a lone princess from a tower because of her long hair."
What it truly was, was just him showering me with compliments and glorifying everything I did for a change, it truly was extravagant to say the least, I ended up making him shorten everything into a short speech, removing 'important' events, but I scolded him for it was unnecessary.
Oh right I forgot I was a king. After snapping out of my trance I commanded.
"Soldiers! Charge!" I ordered as my legion came forth screaming their fury for war.
"RRAAAAHHHG" They bellowed.
They clopped with their horses as they charged forward straight into enemy lines, which have formed a defensive line upfront while arrows rained over.
We were at war. This is my first time in one let alone commanding such. Two forces collided with great havoc.
In the midst of war an assassin who had flanked our defenses went straight towards me. The assassin mercilessly killed and evaded all his enemies with great skill and eventually making it to my local area.
The front was busy with attacking while the back was screaming support. We were getting attacked from behind and the front our sides weren't any better as well, thick mud covered a large area around us, we thought it would put us in our advantage but it ended up being a pit for crowded soldiers to fall into and be left vulnerable for attacks.
With no choice I had to command the rear to at least push out of this behind, the enemy army at the back was far lesser in comparison to the front. We could push them with a majority of our soldiers with ease, But before I could yell my orders the assassin had caught up to me, his dagger went straight for my eye, I deflected it with my broadsword and it went flying before sticking itself in the dirt, he took a stance with his arm behind him hinting he had more to offer.
"Tsk, Don't underestimate me you little brat." I scorned at him.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
He didn't reply instead he became more cautious. I could handle him all by myself, I am king, My soldiers right now are fighting for me, singing their war cry's,I cant be indebted to them anymore. I outsmarted his little tricks, Smoke, Kunai's, One grazed me in the cheek but one scar for a nation isn't enough to take me down.
Just as I though I had him cornered, I struck him with my broad sword, but he flung and disappeared into the smoke, I was left lost in it, I bumped into my own soldier thinking it was enemy, I had been prepared to take my own soldiers life right then and there... My guard lowered I heard a screaming sound, it was coming from above, It pierced the smoke heading straight for me. It was a screaming arrow, something black was tinted on its tip, obsidian was probably used to strengthen it and inflict penetrative damage, I tried my best swerve to the right and I managed to make it hit only my left thigh but it had penetrated my thick armor, ripped through the padding and injured me through it, although shallow, I tried to catch my breath.
"Targun!" I screamed but his hands are full with enemy spearmen.
I had to take a breather, I needed someone to protect me...
He glanced at me "L-lord behind you!"
I glanced down upon my chest, a black blade has pierced my torso, I gurgle blood and spit it out.It rotated in me curdling my stomach, I puke blood and it was swiftly pulled out of my solar plexus.
"Ret-...Retrea.." I fell from my horse and limply laid on the ground.
My vision is becoming darker... Is this death?
I can hear them.
"Lord! Yullia! Aid him!" Their babbling voices and sounds of intense war slowly disappears, My vision slowly being taken by darkness I lose consciousness.
Ah...
I'm losing my senses...
I feel a shadow engulfing me...
Damn it...Damn it all... It looks like I'm going to leave Heiter at such a young age...
Please...Live a full life without your disappointing father.
"W-what the?!, who are you?" A voice of a goddess coming from the dark.
I look around this darkness, Has a goddess found me?, Has she come to save me?
"!...Well.. haa!, why didn't that stupid stupid Crux say that we'll have visitors!" The goddess squirmed.
I felt my body fall-No drop on to a solid surface, I felt like I was falling through a sea of darkness but to be met with a warm surface, like open arms it provided me
a place to stand with my two feet.
Am I saved? Who is she talking to, Me? Perhaps I should be polite.
"Oh Goddess, I kneel here before you...Perhaps will it be in your heart to show yourself?"
My thick armor clangs onto the darkness as I kneeled to the direction of the voice.
"V-very well..." Echoed from the darkness
This is it!, I wonder what she look's like.. I'm already drooling at the thought, in truth I seek to witness the curves of the fine maiden that will appear before me..
Big breasts?, Thin waist?, Large buns?, I've lived long enough! If I'm a rotten old man so be it! I will see the light at the end of this tunnel!..
. O .
I have been gravely mistaken... A huge blunder on my part... At the end of that tunnel wasn't enlightenment... It was disappointment... There were no breasts enormous enough to greet me... No waist to shoulder my tear's...And no butt to rest my head.
Perhaps this is what I deserve being a perverted old man... I hope Heiter doesn't grow up to be like me... What appeared before me was no maiden... In fact she wasn't even human to begin with...
"My deepest respects given, I lay in awe at the sight that you have bestowed me, but I can't help but ask.."
"?." The 'goddess' stared at me.
"I-is there any reason to why.. You are a... Deer, My goddess?"
What stood before me was a deer, Yes the one that aimlessly wanders in the forest and takes off at the moment of a sudden sound, but this one had white antlers, twinkling stars moved back and forth its tips fading into nothing, It was majestic to say the least. Her eyes, her eyes bore the sky, something about them is entrancing, like beyond them held the secrets of the universe or something.
"..."
Oops.
"U-uh! Not that there's anything wrong with that!, if that truly is your true skin!, then I am in no right to complain!" I spoke trying to mend the silence between us as a cold sweat come's down my forehead.
Ugh I've really done it now. I thought to myself.
"Well... I apologize if I have disappointed you, but this indeed is my true form as I am the Goddess of eternal slumber Healva, people pass and go but you...You have managed to make a constant presence here without fading into nothing." Said with a sharp tone piercing my ears
"I-is that so...Well allow me to introduce myself... I am Fugard Zxaron. King and supreme leader of the Dardihaldt Legion, Head of the legendary Zxaron bloodline."
I hope I didn't mean to threaten!
"I see, You are king with enormous power and pride for your kingdom... Then how have you fallen here?" She asked.
"I'm not sure myself, but I'd like to get back as soon as possible!"
I had to come back, I had to finish what I started.
"Hmm...I'll gladly resurrect your body but...I'm quite interested in your status as king, How did it came to be? " The goddess murmured
"Sorry?" I questioned tilting my head in confusion.
"I'd like to hear your story,in exchange... I'll let you live one more time." The goddess turned to me and sat with all four of her legs folded.
I looked up at her, then I crossed my legs and arms, I closed my eyes and then shouted
"Very well!, I shall tell you the tale of the Supreme leader and glorious life of the man once revered by all across the lands!"
I open one eye and I observe the holy deer.
"Giggle... I'd love to."
Did she just giggle?, but her jaw didn't even open the slightest, This... This is terrifying! Get me out of here! I dont want to be stuck with some omnipotent being looking like-
"Am I really that scary to you?" She read my thoughts.
"err, no! You are a divine being deserving of respect and I have tainted that, Please punish me to great lengths!" I prostrated myself
Im not a masochist in anyway, I just figured I made a mistake thats all...
"No-no I dislike violence... Unlike that guy..." She glanced away before adding
"But that doesn't mean I take disrespect for granted... I do have a bad side you know..." She twitched her nose'
AAAAHHHHH! GET ME OUT OF HERE! IM GOING TO DIE, DIE! DIE! WHAT'S SHE GOING TO DO TO ME? TWIST MY GUTS AND EAT THEM? NOOO!!!! I internally screamed but I'm already dead I guess...
"f-fuwah... You're hurting my ears...I don't eat nor twist guts. I might get angry for realsies."
Ahhhh... Father I'm sorry but this is your son.. I lived a happy life in a cottage and died at the age of 28... I had a loving wife and son... Heiter this is your father, tell your mother I wont be coming home for a while.
"Papa no!" He reached for me with his little hands.
"Always remember, Fight the titans, Kill all of them. Just then will you see the sea's beyond the walls."
As I indulged myself in fantasies, The holy deer sighed and I sat up once again and eventually I started telling my story of becoming king.
