((sorry it's so short, but...it's summer! Vacation! Fun! And unbearably hot in my room...
I'll aim to make the next chapter longer once I don't feel like melting anymore XP))
After the deadly boring game of dress up the little kid had come to an end, his golden skin had been treated with something that smelled sweet and made him glossy and his hair set in a hairstyle that apparently consisted of lots of little braids that had been piled up on his head and cascaded down in an artistic manner - he was finally, finally ready.
Sitting still for hours on end, only interrupted by some other dress he needed to try on, he was led to a mirror - the first mirror he had seen in his life as a Bee prince.
It became obvious why everyone had recognized him as a male immediately - and the girl's comment the day before about his big eyes made sense, as well. While everyone he had seen so far had large, liquid black eyes without any white in them, his were larger. More inhuman, covering part of where his forehead would have been had he been human in a shape that resembled almonds. His childish button nose and mouth on the other hand were very normal, while his antennae looked subtly different from the others'. If he hadn't seen the other people's reactions he would have considered the possibility that he was from another tribe, or at least a different group of Bees. He was...he couldn't decide whether he looked good or not, he was too alien to judge such things yet.
After staring at his own reflection for a while he was pulled away again and then set down on a sedan, with two Bee people on each side that flew through the corridors quickly, until they arrived at a crossway, with the entrance to a huge hall to the left. They stopped there for a little while.

The hall seemed cut out of stone and massive pottery containers a hundred times larger than him covered the walls. Busy workers filled them with honey or carried full ones towards a massive door to his left. It kind of gave off the feeling of a trade port.
Then the door was shut and the journey continued along a richly decorated hallway, until they arrived at a terrace where several richly dressed bees were resting on large flowers that had obviously been planted just for this reason.
But that wasn't what surprised him the most.
Although it was called a marriage interview, there were neither queens nor male bees present. Only richly dressed workers, those he recognized from his own kingdom on one group of flowers, while other groups of flowers held bees that had slight differences.
On several white roses bees with black hair were resting, hair none of the bees he had seen so far had. Another group had dark golden skin and hair in the same color, while yet another group all had brown eyes, not black, along with a slightly paler hair color on average.
But that wasn't what shocked him the most.
No, what truly made him freeze was the massive person looking down at the collection of tiny Bee people, one so large that he could have flattened all the flowers in this place just by swinging his arm once.
