3. Procedures, First ‘Plot’

(Bu Cai POV)

Bu Cai proceeded to tell the System with great enthusiasm that he desired to start this.

If you made a comparison between his current attitude, to his attitude before for being exposed to this opportunity, then would see a remarkable contrast- like night and day.

Previously, Bu Cai was living for the sake of creating an opportunity to improve his situation, and to pester the world that always gave him the short end of the stick- no matter the place, time, or occasion.

Every time he woke up from his uncomfortable sleep, on his uncomfortable bed, in uncomfortable condition, he didn't think of giving up - that word hadn't even been in his dictionary- nor had he ever thought of going astray and committing crimes.

No.

He much rather woke up with the mindset that he HAD to continue head to work, so that maybe, just maybe... he could get himself out of this damned situation one day.

And if there was no job to wake up and head of to?

Then he'd get on his two feet and find another.

This endless cycle of trying and failing almost drove him mad, and he had cursed fate many times, yet he still went through with it.

The only thing that eventually killed off this blazing determination of his, was the knowledge that he would be killed off soon.

This affected him greatly.

Before the illness, he wasn't bothered that he had no one to confide in. Yet that changed as he rotted away day after day in the hospital bed, all alone.

Before the illness, he never even imagined giving up on striving towards a better life. Yet that seemingly unstoppable drive dwindled as did his health.

He knew from common sense that he couldn't beat death no matter how much motivation he had... he wasn't some main character of a Xianxia novel or something.

But now, all his depression was upturned by this incredible chance!

This chance to improve everything about himself that he hated, whilst also enjoy living out his dreams within worlds he only thought of as figment of people's imagination.

The unyielding will that he thought was lost, had been reignited!

The System first told him about how the first three worlds he would be visiting would be done differently than normal,

[Before Host is sent away, the System will explain to the Host about procedures that must be done before getting to start your hunt.]

[Due to the System having to interfere and modify your misfortune for the next three worlds manually, the System will have to concede it to RNG when deciding, which 'Plot' you will be sent in, the extent of it that you can see, your Starting point, and the Background you will receive.]

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

[The 'Plot' essentially refers to the Fortuned One that you will be tasked to hunt. You will recieve basic information on him and this information can be elaborate or vague depending on RNG.]

[The other factor which will be decided for you by RNG is Starting point, another major part of cockroach hunting.]

[The Starting point is split into two main categories, one being that you are transmigrated into the universe as anyone in it and getting relevant memories and skills of the individual, or the second is being reincarnated and starting as a newborn in the world.]

[Both have advantages and disadvantages. It's up to the Host to work around them to maximise the chances of being able to get rid of the Fortuned one.]

After taking in all the information, Bu Cai had two main concerns.

One was whether this 'RNG' would be affected by him being the No.1 Child of Calamity, and the other being how his current procedure differed from normal cockroach hunting procedures.

On Cue, the System answered Bu Cai by saying,

[For Host's first question- The System's RNG is above the concept of fortune and misfortune and is 100% impartial (No cashback guarantees though) therefore Host needn't worry over it.]

[For Host's second question- During normal procedures the Host can choose between three to five randomly selected universes and see the difficulties of each 'Plot', Then Host can choose the most suitable option.]

[Host will also be able to use System credits to buy certain benefits to help Host including but not limited to, choice between transmigration and reincarnation, background of starting point, etc. These can all help Host with defeating the Fortuned Ones.]

After understanding the basics, Bu Cai then saw a large wheel with a multitude of colours each with a variety of sizes.

Some colours had extremely minuscule areas, namely the thin lines of bronze, silver, and gold. Whereas some areas where relatively large like the F-rank sections which where is a dark purple colour.

The wheel also had a large black pin hanging in from the side which presumably would show the result of the spin.

In all honesty Bu Cai was stunned by the aura of mysteriousness and antiquity it was giving off.

Plus it also looked very cool, so Bu Cai naturally loved it.

The system then told Bu Cai information about it,

[Host, this is called the wheel of RNG.]

[To make it start spinning, simply say 'Spin' with the intent of starting the spin.]

[Since we are deciding the plot first, the options have been split into different sizes in accordance to difficulty and since it doesn't intend to send you to a universe which is immensely out of your league*it has made the harder ones smaller. The difficulty for 'plots' from low to high are graded, F Rank, E Rank, D-Rank, C-Rank, B-Rank, A-Rank, S-Rank, SS-Rank, SSS-Rank, bronze, silver, and gold.]

[Currently anything above D-Rank will basically be impossible for you because of reasons which will be explained after you acquire the Basic {Cockroach Luck Repellent}.]

[The universe levels will almost always correlate with 'Plot' level as finding SSS-Rank 'Plots' in D-Rank worlds is an impossibility due to a D-rank universe not having enough Source to accommodate a 'Plot' of such level, same with the fact that a higher ranked world would not make a Fortuned One have a lower Rank than the world.]

Bu Cai took in all the information then followed the System's instructions and said "spin", with the intention of wanting it to spin.

In all honesty, he was quite impatient to start his adventure and was confident that without his bad luck sabotaging him, he'll be able to get a doable mission for his first one.

Unfortunately, it went as well as his first job did... atrociously.

He stared at the ever slowing wheel in trepidation.

What he was hoping to draw was a plot that centered around a modern society with cultivation. This way he would be able to focus on important things and not have to adapt to ancient Chinese societal norms, whilst also being able to utilise the work experience he had built up over his 64 jobs.

All these factors would then set him up for a stable source of finance, mean whilst also allowing him to sabotage the Fortuned One along the way, hence nerfing the Fortuned One to the ground then easily sending him to the abyss of nothingness**.

But this master plan came crashing down due to the fact that the Rank of 'Plot' he had gotten was...
