Ley was looking at the guard in front of him with confusion written all over his face.
Today was a very weird day for Ley, the young cashier from god knows where.
His sentence of one year for damaging public property was halved because his sleepwalking tendencies finally had medical proofs to back them up. Quite late, really, but at least he was spared four months of staying there.
As he walked dazedly toward the exit, he felt someone put their hand on his shoulder. He turned back, seeing another guard flashing him a happy smile, "you're finally out, eh? Remember to visit sometimes, you know when I and the boys have our pause. The supervisors won't disagree so don't worry."
"Sure, Liam. Just give me your number, I'll make sure to call," Ley said he woke up from his dazed state.
During his stay as an inmate, he became friendly with three guards and Liam was one of them. It wasn't unusual for this sort of friendship to happen, but it wasn't common either.
Ley gave his voucher to the property officer and got his belongings back, a phone and some keys, then got ready to leave.
When he reached the door, he heard Liam yell behind him, "make sure to tie yourself to your bed when you sleep. We don't want you to throw a grenade in a public park the next time you sleepwalk, it could hurt someone!"
Ley scratched his head embarrassedly remembering that night where he was woken up by an explosion, a safety pin in his hands, but still smiled at Liam, knowing he was joking. Breathing in the fresh air, Ley grabbed his phone and dialed Marcus's, his foster father, number. It seemed he somehow still had balance, as he heard the rhythmic "beeps~" echo in his ears.
After telling Marcus about the good news, Ley kept it short and asked him to pick him up. He didn't wait for long before a black Jeep showed up near the parking lot. Marcus went down and ruffled his hair affectionately, "you grew up boy, it's been so long!"
"We saw each other last week! I've only been here for 6 months Marcus, you don't have to try," Ley snickered at him.
"Six months is definitely a long time, let me show you," Marcus said excitedly before going toward the car and opening the front door, "Ta-da!" he exclaimed as he took off his glasses showing a smug expression.
Ley peered in and saw a woman sitting there. She had black hair tied into a ponytail and a healthy complexion, her barely open eyes and posture gave off a feeling of languidness. When she saw Ley looking at her she waved at him with a smile.
"Selling weapon wasn't enough for you so you got into human trafficking now? It'll be hard for me to be a cashier in this business, man. With slavery being illegal and all that jazz..." Ley said seriously, making Marcus nearly drop his sunglasses and the woman laugh heartily.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Marcus coughed, "Ley, this is Linda, my wife. Linda, this is Ley, my madman of a son."
"Nice to meet you, Ley~"
Ley looked at Marcus and Linda alternatively with a blank expression.
This was Marcus for fuck's sake! It should've been impossible for him to get married to anything short of a beluga whale on the verge of cardiovascular arrest!
Ley forced a smile, nodding at her.
"Keeping it a secret from you was definitely a good choice. Look at your face!" Marcus laughed heartily as he pushed his son into the car.

The sun was still shining brightly when the Jeep parked beside a large villa. Marcus left the car and opened Linda's door, helping her out like a gentleman.
Ley acted as if he wasn't seeing anything and examined the villa in wonder. In the car, he had already chatted with Linda and Marcus and understood more about what happened during his absence. One month after Ley's arrestment, Marcus felt lonely and began going out daily, trying to strike a conversation with anyone. He met Linda in a café and found her so pretty that he asked her out without really thinking, which she somehow accepted. Basically, a common unlogical love story coming true.
They went on multiple dates and thought they really fit each other, so they visited Linda's family. Her father was quite nice and agreed to let them be if Marcus stopped selling weapons and dabbling into gray business, which he obviously agreed to casually since the only thing Marcus didn't lack was money.
In basically five months they went from acquaintances to newlyweds, the sheer speed made Ley chuckle dryly.
Still, his initial surprise wasn't caused by the speedy marriage but stemmed from the fact that Marcus was able to talk to another human being without making them feel like beating him. His taunting skill was definitely leveled up to the max, and he wasn't even self-aware.
He was also quite a weird person, taking in the seven-year-old Ley when he was only seventeen.
He was currently twenty-eight, wasn't exceptionally handsome, and had an eighteen-year-old "son", so it could be understood that not many women would be interested in him if not for his money, but Linda was a special case, she was quite a successful painter and didn't lack money at all.
Thinking about that, he gazed at Linda with respect and gratitude. He would definitely pay her back when the occasion presented itself.
'Can't really help her with anything anyway, except if she's into MOBAs or fps games...' He lampooned inwardly.
As he was thinking about that, he spotted a roach trying to enter through the window...

While Marcus was struggling to find the right key to open the villa's door, Linda spotted Ley taking off his shoes and carefully approaching what seemed like a cockroach.
She watched in interest as Ley violently tried to crush the dreaded creature, but seeing the result, she ran toward Marcus with a panic-stricken face.
Ley that had missed his strike raised his head, with eyes full of horror.
The cockroach had unfurled its wings.
