This enchanter only dealt with enchants up to tier 4, that’s because every two tiers the price jumped nearly ten fold. The reason for it was the necessary power crystals. Tiers 1-2 used Minor Power Crystals costing 10 silver each, while 3-4 required Lesser versions, which ran for a 100 silver each, and could be found in tier 5 and higher dungeons. The next power crystal, Greater, dropped in tier 10+ dungeons and were worth around 10 gold each. Combined with other ingredients, the price for a tier 2 enchant was around 70 silver, while tier 3 jumped to 450. Despite the jump in price, the blessing ranges between tiers were more or less linear. At 70 silver each, I enchanted all the gear I was wearing.
* Helmet +4 to all attributes
* Chest +2% Fire Resistance
* Gloves +5 Will
* Pants +6 Con
* Boots +3% Cold Resistance
* Belt +12% Mana Regen
* Cloak +5 Perception
Only one turned out to be an item slot specific blessing, the one for the helmet. Given the possibilities, the special item type blessing only had 8.3% to occur. It was lucky I got one, and a high roll too.
Before, I didn’t have much of a concern for mana and mana regeneration. However, my new wand skill, [Arcane Blast], came with a high mana cost, plus I intended to use [Mana Ward]. It looked like higher tier skills were mana hungry, and Bob confirmed my suspicion.
His progress in re-aligning my meridians was still many days out. So, I bought two rings for 7 gold each. Although pricey, it made the most sense for me to prioritize the percent based, special Increased Maximum Mana blessing over Will on the rings. With my already high mana, the low 4-6% increased it by 144 to 210, whereas Will attribute rolled between 3-6, or 30-60 more mana. I figured the rings would synergize quite well with whatever mana improvements I would get from Bob’s work.
* [Enchanted] Silver Ring
* 5% Increased Maximum Mana
* +4 Strength
* [Enchanted] Silver Ring
* 6% Increased Maximum Mana
I knew what he was playing at, but could I blame him? Would I have acted any differently if I was in his place? While having to haggle with him at times, his use and keen insight was undeniable.
When it came to enchanting weapons, I hit a bit of a snag. I had four wands, but they were the heavy-hitting, long power-up versions. Two Heavy Ivory wands, and two Ardent Oak wands. They were great for clearing dungeon bosses, but terrible at dealing with raiders and other quick moving targets.
Fortunately, I had another piece of ivory that I got from running Flooded Lairs the night before. With that, I wanted to craft a third Ivory Wand and hopefully unlock a new schematic. For that I needed an amethyst tip, sinew binding, and leather for the grip. Fortunately, the enchantress had amethysts, and I bought a couple from her.
After a short stop at the armorsmith, and a few more odd looks asking to increase the hole in the helmet, I found the leatherworker’s workshop. They had the sinew and the leather for the grip. With a bit of help from the leatherworker, it took me a few minutes to craft the new ivory wand.
* [t1][Lesser][Bolstered Ivory Wand][100/100]
* Damage: 16.8 dmg [105%]
* Power-up time: 3.15 sec
* Cooldown time: 1.5 sec
* Speed: 20 m/s
* Duration: 1 sec
* Range: 20
* Projectile Burst: 5
I also received a new schematic.
* [t1] [Bronze Wand]
* Jade tip
* Bronze core
* Silver wiring
* Leather grip
* Power Crystal
I was eager to craft the new bronze wand, but first I bought a couple of wand holsters made of leather. They were somewhat similar to sword sheaths, but were strapped in place higher up at the side of my ribs. They came in sets of three and I bought two, one for each side. This way I had instant access to six wands at any moment. I also looked for a pair of nice boots, but just like in Rosedale, nothing came in the ‘monster’ variety.

I returned to the armorsmith for the third time, this time looking for bronze cores for my new wand. I already had the silver wiring, and the jade. I wasn’t entire sure which low grade component caused it, but the quality of the resulting wand came out to [Minor] instead of [Lesser]. This resulted in a ten percent penalty to damage. However, it gave me a good idea of the type of wand this was, and I was excited to make another, better one.
* [t1][Minor] [Swift Bronze Wand] [100/100]
* Damage: 59 [55% -10%]
* Power-up time: 0.55 sec [55%]
* Cooldown time: 2.75 sec [55%]
* Speed: 47 m/s
* Duration: 1 sec
* Range: 47 meters
This time, I picked out the best jade chunk of the lot that I had, took the time to attach it and the power crystal with extra care. For the bronze core, I purchased a thicker shaft, aiming to hit about the 100% mark in terms of size. I had to go back to the leatherworker to get the handle wrapped, and paid extra for better leather. The extra expense and care paid off with an amazing wand.
* [t1][Greater] [Bolstered Bronze Wand] [100/100]
* Damage: 143 [108% +10%]
* Power-up time: 1.1 sec [108%]
* Cooldown time: 5.4 sec [108%]
* Speed: 55 m/s
* Duration: 1 sec
* Range: 55 meters
Unlike the previous two types, this one had a shorter power-up time in contrast to the longer cooldown time. Combined they were slightly longer by about 1.5 seconds, but having a shorter power-up time was much more important in a fight to me. It also had a much faster projectile speed which would allow me to take down targets from about twice the distance.
Needing a second wand of similar quality for my other hand, I went to the same lengths to make it. Except, for whatever reason, it came out at a [Lesser] quality which meant I didn’t get a damage bonus. Maybe the bronze material wasn’t as pure, or the silver binding wasn’t as carefully done, or perhaps the jade was foggy. Wanting a similar power-up time as the first wand, I had the armorsmith file away the bottom of the want until it reached the same weight.
* [t1][Lesser] [Bolstered Bronze Wand] [100/100]
* Damage: 130 [108% +10%]
* Power-up time: 1.1 sec [108%]
* Cooldown time: 5.4 sec [108%]
* Speed: 53 m/s
* Duration: 1 sec
* Range: 53 meters
Having finished a third bronze wand, I was rewarded with a new schematic for a tier two wand.
* [t2] [Walnut Wand]
* Rose Quartz tip
* Walnut core
* Silver wiring
* Ivory booster
* Leather grip
* Power Crystal
I loaded up my new wand holsters with the bronze wands at the top, one on each side. Next down the line were the two heavy ivory wands, and then the ardent oak wands. With wands made, I took them to have them enchanted.
The first enchant gave +8% to duration to the first bronze wand, increasing the range. The second enchant granted +17% to damage to the second wand, increasing the 130 in damage to 152. Supposedly at the divine level, this blessing went up to 110%, and I could only imagine the potential levels of damage that wands could eventually reach with the right approach. It was clear to me that gold was power in this world.
Even after a morning of shopping and enchanting, I had only used about ten percent of my gold. Maybe I should have been less frugal with the funds, but I always loved getting the most bang for the buck. I had a feeling that the remaining gold wasn’t going to be wasted.
Before heading back to the inn, I bought a spoon and a butter knife to complement my steel fork, as they were needed for the [Whispering Bog] excursion.
I couldn’t wait to try out my new wands, along with my new [Arcane Blast] skill. This reminded me that I had five skill points invested in [Power Shot] and that I needed to move them to something more useful. I opened my Status Screen and hit [Reset] on [Power Shot]. The system warned me that the five skill points will become available for assignment in 24 hours.
