Tsubaki's Time: Chapter 3

Tsubaki's Time: Chapter 3

With all of the systems that Tsubaki had put on the market, it only took a few hours for enough Keepers to take an interest that she managed to reach her goal of five thousand points. From there, she set up her second world, and allowed both of her worlds to accelerate to the early stages of the Bronze Age.

Once the two worlds reached this stage, Tsubaki descended upon her second world. There were faint hints of her Keeper appearing all throughout history. Heroes whose origins were clouded in mystery, wielding power far beyond the norm. With that being the case, Tsubaki needed to do the same if she were to truly view things from a Keeper’s perspective.

Upon her descent, she allowed her eyes to roam the world around her. She had descended near a rather large village, and yet the forest around it was not cleared of trees. Instead of having a wide area to use to see incoming threats, they were using the forest as a natural barrier.

With a nod of her head, Tsubaki walked over to the nearest tree, placing a hand on it. As she did, a system window appeared in front of her.

Oldwood Tree - Requires Level 5 Farmer or Level 20 Druid to harvest. Requires Level 10 Farmer or Level 40 Druid to clear.

No tool detected. Requires 55 Strength.

Strength Condition met.

-Harvest-

-Clear-

-Ignore-

A small smile appeared on Tsubaki’s face as she read through the prompt. She chose the third option, bringing her hand away from the tree. Clenching her fist, she channeled her ki into it and thrust forward.

There was a loud crash as her fist punched a hole straight through the tree, splinters flying everywhere. Tsubaki quickly pulled her arm back and jumped back several meters, watching the tree with interest. Green lights streamed in through the air around the tree, surging into the hole that she had created and rapidly closing it.

Although Tsubaki was the one to establish this setting, it still felt good to see it for herself. Trees can only really be damaged either by choosing to Harvest, Clear, or by a monster with the ‘Wooden Home’ tag assigned by the system. Though, if Harvest is chosen, the tree will still regenerate after a week. Of course, a Druid can alter the shape of the trees, but they can’t cause lasting damage, and any changes made will be fixed after a week.

As she thought about that, Tsubaki could hear a rush of footsteps approaching her. She turned, putting on an innocent expression as she saw the kitsune guards rushing at her. “H-halt! State your identity!” The one in the lead called out, his spear shaking slightly as it pointed at Tsubaki.

“My name is Tsubaki.” She answered honestly. As the world was destined to disappear after it reached a certain level of advancement, she wasn’t worried about the traces of history eventually connecting her name to this place. “I apologize. I saw a monster on this tree just now and attacked it. I hope that I haven’t caused you any inconvenience.”

“A monster?” The guard asked, his hands still shaking. Tsubaki watched him curiously, before a voice appeared in her mind.

Someone this strong… is she from the capital? No… the empire? But why would she reveal herself?

Tsubaki blinked, realizing that she must be hearing his surface thoughts. Thinking back, her face immediately went bright red, and she turned around on the spot. Ahem… D-Dana, why are they so afraid of me? It can’t just be that I shook the tree, right?

There was a faint giggle in Tsubaki’s mind, Dana’s voice quickly responding. It’s your aura. Like Demiris, the levels aren’t applied as an evolution here. Instead, it’s a special reinforcement of system energy. Most people can sense that energy to a degree, though it only gives them an idea of ‘is this person strong?’. When they see you, that feeling is basically overflowing.

I… see. I overlooked that detail. Tsubaki let out a small sigh, doing her best to compose herself. She didn’t want the evolution path because there were so many demerits that the benefits weren’t worth it. On the one hand, you needed far higher quality sustenance based on your level, which made food production far more complex. It also made construction work more difficult, as they had to account for people that might weigh dozens of times more than normal. Finally, because the user’s energy wasn’t directly tied to their physical condition, it allowed her to get away with passively regenerating ki and mana, without the need for sleep or food.

As for the benefits… it was simply that the body would maintain its basic strength even if it went to a world with different system laws. This could be seen as a great benefit if something like that were to happen regularly, but Tsubaki did not see this benefit as worth it when compared to the difficulty it imposed at higher levels.

How do I hide my power? She asked urgently, already sensing the guards moving in behind her. She had chosen to descend at this point in time because of a war raging within the kingdom, a nearby empire seeking to claim their land and wipe out any who opposed them.

Just imagine it as a wall. Everything you don’t want active, hide behind that wall. This was something that Tsubaki could do readily, and she quickly placed the majority of her classes behind this mental block.

In the eyes of the guards behind her, Tsubaki’s presence seemed to dim considerably. She still had her significant ki that could be felt, but she did not feel nearly as powerful as she had moments ago. Taking this as a sign that she meant no harm, the guards began to relax, only jolting slightly when she turned around to face them again. “What brings you here?” The same guard as before asked, earning a nod from Tsubaki.

“I am here to reinforce your village.” She answered in a serious tone, catching the guard by surprise.

“Reinforcements? Why would you come to a remote village like this?”

“In three hours, an army will descend on this village. If I don’t arrive now, everything here will be gone by tomorrow.” Tsubaki’s words sent a chill down the spines of the guards, who tightened their grips on their weapons.

“An army… and they only sent one unit for backup?” The guard asked in a shaky voice again, causing Tsubaki to nod her head.

“I am enough.” As she said that, she took a step forward, causing the guards to hastily retreat two steps. At the same time, green energy surged in the surroundings, causing the nearby trees to warp. Their branches lowered, forming a dense wall behind Tsubaki.

“Druid? But… that ki… you’re a Multi-Class?” Another guard gasped in shock at Tsubaki’s display, causing her to blink.

Dana? Is that their term for someone who has reached the level to choose a second class? Tsubaki didn’t think that should be possible, given that none of her classes as a Keeper had reached a hundred yet. The highest was only reaching the forties.

Yes and no. The knowledge of multi-classing that way does exist. It’s in the system guide, after all. However, there are very rare cases in the world where someone is born with a system mutation. We call those Anomalies. One of the more common anomalies is to be born with their class options changed. For instance, they might have three Primary, or two Primary and one Secondary, or all three might be Secondary.

The first two cases are known as ‘Multi-Class’, while the last is considered trash. They likely assume that you are one of these anomalies.

At Dana’s explanation, Tsubaki nodded her head. Good, then I have one more class I can demonstrate before things begin to defy explanation.

“That’s right.” Tsubaki nodded, looking at the guards. “I possess the classes of Monk, Druid, and Cleric.”

“I-I see… forgive me. I did not know that we were in the presence of such a great person.” The guards began moving their spears, assuming a neutral stance. “Is there anything that we can do to help you prepare?”

“I will need to see your village for myself. After that, it will depend on the circumstances.” She said simply, the guards turning to guide her to the village. Dana, where is the nearest dungeon?

Ten minutes to the south at a casual walk. This village was built to take advantage of the dungeon’s resources. It drops basic armor, so it is an important location to this kingdom, though they keep the news of the dungeon top secret.

Still, there was likely a leak of information, which led to the empire choosing this village to target. Tsubaki let out a faint sigh at that thought, shaking her head. Given that the village used the forest as a natural barrier, they didn’t have their own wall. At best, they had a sentry tower at the heart of the village, which was capable of viewing the entire village from above and a short distance into the forest.

They’re relying too much on their geographic location. Why do monsters not overrun this village?

When Tsubaki gave that question, Dana was already prepared with her response. It’s because of the village elder. He is an accomplished Mage and Enchanter, and created an elementary ward around the village to deter monsters.

They already have wards like that at this stage? That is impressive. Tsubaki couldn’t help but praise the achievement. In her world, the first wards had to be passed down by the Keeper and Ryone. This was one of the few confirmed traces of the Keeper’s past, as their cooperation at the time resulted in the birth of Leowynn. Have you been supplying them with magic like that?

Heheh… I can’t interfere too directly. However, if someone possesses both the Cleric and Enchanter classes, there is a possibility. They just have to make an offering of high enough value for the knowledge that they seek. Cleric and Mage would also work, but there are only two Multi-Class that chose both of those jobs in the current era.

Tsubaki nodded her head in understanding. Given that the lone Goddess of the world was the Goddess of Magic, she assumed that most Clerics would choose Enchanter as one of their secondary classes. With that being the case, the world’s magic development would be considerably more advanced than she was expecting at first.

As Tsubaki observed the village, she saw that less than half of the villagers seemed fit for combat. Whether male or female, most of them had clearly chosen to focus on their secondary classes, especially those who had chosen to become smiths.

Her brow furrowed at the thought, mentally recalling the size of the enemy force. “We can’t hold the fight here. Even if I erect a wall of wood, they will break their way in. Assign two of your best scouts to me, and I will take the fight to the enemy forces.”

The guard hesitated for a moment, before giving a sharp nod and running off in the direction of a large house situated near the center of the village. No doubt to report to the village elder and request authorization to carry out her instructions.

You’re going to the front lines? Dana asked in concern, causing Tsubaki to tilt her head.

It is either that or turning around and going home.

I suppose… be careful, though. The fact that there are so many less classes in this world than Dale’s means that you aren’t as strong by comparison as he was.

Tsubaki hesitated for just a moment, her mental voice speaking out in a gentle tone. Don’t worry. I’ll leave everything to you. You know how strong I am. If the situation gets too dangerous, you can immediately pull me back to the Sky Citadel.

This was something that they had tested previously as a safety measure. There were three permissions that could be applied to Dana when it came to pulling Tsubaki out of the mortal world. First, it could be completely disabled. Secondly, it could be used as a request, giving Tsubaki the choice to accept it or not. Finally, she could be given full permission to pull Tsubaki back at will. Due to her trust in Dana, Tsubaki chose the third option.
