Chapter 13 | Intense Conversation

Chapter 13 | Intense Conversation

Beth was about to block Warren, when Kain stopped her when he saw the hand of the gorgeous woman move slightly. If he allowed Beth to continue then he could have confirmed his suspicions of what the woman was holding on, but it also meant dealing with the consequences of such event. Warren, on the other hand, was smiling the whole time without removing his gaze from Kain.

Beth: What are you talking about? Are you chickening out now!?

Kain: Just open the gates and let them in.

Beth was about to answer back at this little shit, that no longer had the balls he had while killing her best friend, when she felt something sharp touch her hips.

Beth: … fineee.

Gritting her teeth, she stepped forward and opened the gates, allowing Warren and the gorgeous woman inside. When the two passed by the young black woman, she finally noticed what was in the left hand of the mature woman. A riffle. She didn't know what kind of model it was, or even if it was fake or not, but she could begin to understand the behavior behind Kain' actions. She was now wondering how he realized she was holding on a weapon.

Warren: Aren't you going to show the way inside?

Kain: It's not my house.

Warren: Hahaha... true... true. Bliss.

The mature woman seemed to react to his calling, which made Beth and Kain realize that it was either her name or nickname, since it was a rather weird name for someone to have. The said woman lifted the gun, in her hands, and aimed at Beth, who froze at the sight of the black barrel targetting her. She wasn't prepared for this, in any way possible.

Kain: Don't scare her too much, otherwise she will pee herself.

Warren: Haha... you are right. Look at her face. Let's go Bliss. Leave the girl alone. So, will you do the honors?

Kain: Sure. I will do my best. "I need to tread carefully around this guy. He doesn't seem normal..."

Leading them inside the Lynstein mansion, they left Beth behind on the garden, of the mansion. Seeing the door closing, she collapsed to the ground.

Beth: What has become of my life? …. i.. just wanted to live a normal life... with the love of my life and enjoying good life....

The dam she had blocking her pride and emotions finally broke, causing all of her feeling to burst out and overwhelm her. The grief and sadness of her boyfriend and best friend' death... the harsh reality that hit her when she noticed the state Kain' body was in.... and above all of it, the feeling of insecurity and powerless she was having all day long. It felt like she was an ant in a world of giants, all it took was for her to make a single mistake for her to suffer a terrible death.

Tears flooded out of her eyes as she simply laid there on the lawn and sobbed.

The sounds of her sobs could be heard even inside the Lynstein mansion, where Kain led Warren and Bliss to sit on the couch, he previously laid before, and he was about to sit down on a nearby armchair, when Bliss stopped him by grasping his shoulder.

Kain: What is it?

Bliss: Boss sits there.

Looking past the gorgeous woman, he saw the man still smiling at him.

Kain: Sure. Doesn't make a difference to me.

For the first time, the smile on Warren' face twitched and decreased in volume. It almost looked like he wanted Kain to fight back his attempt to annoy him, since that is all it was.

Kain: "I either need Nev to perform a sneak attack on them, or bring out Escan. The thing is that I don't think I will even be able to throw the poke ball before she shoots me down."

As the two of them sat down, on their respective places, Bliss remained standing, right beside Warren.

Kain: "Not to mention.... I doubt it very much that he won't be carrying a weapon of his own. He doesn't seem a guy that has others do things for himself." So... what do you want?

Warren: Isn't that obvious?

Kain: I am going to say it's not.

Warren: ….

Bliss: ….

Kain: If it's because of what happened to your son, my condolences. What a terrible tragedy. I couldn't stop shaking after hearing the news.

Warren: Do you take me for an idiot?

The smile was completely gone now, a cold expression replaced it as he gazed at the opposite young man. Meanwhile Bliss grasped the weapon with both of her hands, right in front of her. It had a way to intimate people, that was rather efficient.

Kain: ….

Warren: Do you really think that I would come here, after not finding what happened?

Kain: No.

Warren: Then stop the shitty show and tell me what I want to know.

Kain: No.

Warren: No?

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Bliss raised the rifle and aimed at Kain, ready to fire at any notion she received from her boss, either that be a order or a signal, that could be further subdivided into multiple ways he could comunicate with her. Whenever it all resumed to be a simple gaze, a slight touch, a strange behavior, (...).

Kain: Why would I give up my only trump card? Does it even make sense to you? You would just shoot and kill me, after I told you.

Warren: You present a valid point, but I could also just torture you for the information.

Kain: Hahaha...

Bliss: ….

Warren: Hahaha.... can't believe I forgot. How absentminded of me, to completely forget the fact of you already being used to pain. Haha...

Warren couldn't stop himself from laughing out loud, he had completely forgot that the kid he was talking to was someone that had suffered for his entire life.

Kain: ….

Warren: For all that is worth, I never participated in that shit.

Kain: I know, but you also did nothing to stop it.

He knew that Warren was speaking the truth, since he had gone through the memories of the previous host a couple of times already, especially the ones where he suffered at the hands of his father and bullies.

Warren never once touched him with the aim to hurt him, but he also watched them doing the shit they did with a smile in his face most of the times.

Warren: Seeing what you have done recently, I am pretty glad with myself for not doing shit.

Kain: Even if that means the death of your son?

Warren: Oh... so you are finally speaking the truth.

Kain: If it is something that you know about it, why should I bother with spouting shit.

Warren: Are you going to tell me now how you did it?

Kain: No.

Warren: …

Bliss: ….

Kain: …

Bliss: Boss. Should I?

Bliss was beginning to lose her patience with this kid in front of them, she had never seen someone so obnoxious and tiresome as him before. She felt that even if the kid was 'used' to pain, a little bit of torture was going to make him reveal any secret he had, especially if it was someone, that she knew pretty well, who did, that also belonged to their organization.

Warren: No. There is no need for that. "He is too confident for his own good. I have been paying attention to anything that he could use to fight against us, but I didn't see anything he could make of use, and I think that he isn't suicidal...."

Kain: …

Bliss: …

Warren: You should know that I am a very cautious man.

Kain: ….

Warren: With that in mind, you understand that I can't let you live while presenting yourself as a threat to my business and life.

Kain: Then there is only one thing I can say.

Warren: Good.

Bliss was about to relax and lower her rifle, when she heard the next words from the young man.

Kain: Let's dance.

Saying so, he reached into his right pocket, where he grabbed on Escan' poke ball but without pulling it out, and a knife with his left one, that he placed in front of him.

He knew that the probabilities of facing these two and coming out alive from it were close to zero, but he was ready to gamble all of it. Not for his pride. Not for vengeance! He was going to do it for his safety!

If Warren managed to get the knowledge of his 'special' abilities - his pokemons, or his Profile function or, even, about his system. It meant the end of the line for him. He was certain that Warren would do all he could to get his hold on him, whenever that meant torture, experiments....

It was safe to say that if such thing happened, the future that awaited him then was dark and bleak.

Bliss was about to raise her weapon again when she felt a hand on it, it was Warren who was looking intensely at the young man.

One thing that most people didn't know about Warren, except for his 'brother', Jack, was that he had always been a crazy and madman since he was a teenage, when the two of them met. Since that time the two of them formed a bond over their abnormal past, with Jack fear for Warren being born at that time as well. The two of them went through thick and thin throughout their entire lives. Alchool. Drugs. Women. Danger. Near-death experiences. They had went through all of it, together.

As such the two of them had become something that couldn't be compared with a normal human, especially their instincts when it was related with danger towards their life.

Warren didn't stop Bliss because of fearing the young man standing before them, since he only held a knife in his hand. Bliss could shoot him between the eyes before he could sneeze or attempt to get up from the armchair. No! His instincts were warning about something else, something that he couldn't make heads or tails of it.

Warren: I wonder where that confidence of yours comes from.

The supposed source of confidence was standing a little away from the three of them, hiding in a shadow, in the living room, prepared to attack at the slightest hint from it's trainer.

It's behavior was almost equal to Bliss' one.

Warren: Fine. It seems that there is nothing that can be done. You won't tell shit, so there is no need to waste any more time on this.

Kain: ….

Warren: You have nothing to say? Not even a thanks?

Kain: It's just that I find it difficult for you to let it end this way. I am not even the only one. Look at her.

Sparing a quick glance to the side, he saw the stunned face of Bliss. He almost let out a laugh at it, for the known stone-face woman of his organization to have such an expression was hilarious.

Warren: I don't like wasting time on stupid matters like this. You see I don--

brrr

Warren couldn't continue speaking, as the sound of a door creaking could be heard loudly. Looking at the source of noise, they found Beth peering inside of the mansion. She was still trembling and fidgety.

Kain: I understand what you mean.

Warren: Is that so?

The two of them soon resumed back to their conversation, leaving the pained young woman alone, which allowed her to step into what no longer felt her safe home, and go upstairs to her room. She didn't even clean up the mess, of make-up on her face, as she simply slumped on her bed and held her knees before falling asleep.

Warren: I don't know how you did it, but you should be more careful from here on out.

Kain: I appreciate the advice.

Warren: It's not like it's something you didn't realize by now.

Kain: I won't pronunciate on that.

Warren: Hahaha.... you sure are interesting. What I would give for you to be my son, instead of that little shit.

The three of them were now standing outside Lynstein mansion, in the sidewalk, as they were giving their final goodbyes to each other.

Kain: It seems that you barely cared for him.

Warren: And you would be right. He was weak. His only strength was bullying the weak and getting nothing out of it.

Warren was getting on his black SUV, when he stopped and turned back to face Kain.

Warren: Next time will be different.

Kain: Yes, it will.

A smile grazed the face of Warren as he got inside the vehicle, followed by Bliss that scoffed at the young man.

Seeing the two drive away, seemingly back to the West mansion, Kain walked back to the Lynstein mansion before relaxing and falling on his ass. All of the tension and stress he held back, after meeting and noticing how dangerous Warren was, slowly dissipated.

Kain: Pffff..... that was intense. I didn't expect for someone like him to appear so early in the game. I don't know how to get out of this deep hole I put myself in.

Squeakk

Attracted by the sound, he turned his head to side and found Nev climbing inside through a window, this little rat was the only protection he had during the entire encounter.

Kain: We need to get going.

Patting the purple rat in the head, he got up on his feet and went upstairs. He was in a time schedule right now. He knew that the clock had started ticking the moment he met Warren. Putting to the side how familiar his bodyguard, Bliss, handled weapons, Warren was someone that ruled over an organization, and it wasn't anything small. This was something he was certain of.

His thoughts were right on the money, although a little bit too late. Great changes were occurring throughout the city, with some of them not even being related to the actions of Kain.

[School]

Sarah was having the worst day of her life.

It was a bit weird since it started greatly, with her BB accompanying her to school, something that he hadn't done in the past few days. The problem was what followed.

{Flashback}

She had barely stepped into the school grounds, when her best friend, Soraia, pulled her to the side. She couldn't even begin to speak with her when she noticed the strange situation surrounding the school.

Looking from the side, she saw Christian and his group walk out towards her BB, the snickers on their faces clear as day.

Gods knows how much she wanted to step in and stopped them from beating him up, again, but she couldn't. No matter what she did to help her BB, nothing worked. She tried to get the support of others, nothing. She tried to talk with the other classmates of her BB, but they didn't care one bit about him.

Just then she was surprised by the group, Christian, Tom and Derek, taking off on a run.

Looking around she found that her BB was gone.

Soraia: I know he is your brother, but I have to say that he should just end it all.

Sarah: Huh? What are you talking about, Soraia? He is my brother!

Soraia: I know. But don't you think that all this suffering could be avoid?

Sarah: You don't know him.

Soraia: I know enough.

While Sarah didn't agree with Soraia verbally, she was thinking through it. Was her brother really in such pain? Had she grown so into it, that it turned into a habit?

Although she saw the bruises and wounds on her BB' body, she no longer thought anything of it. It was....

{End of Flashback}

Sarah: "I am a despicable human being."

Sarah sobs resonated in the small space she was in, it was a cubicle of a bathroom.

If one were to look closely, they would able to discover bruises on her trembling arms and thighs, her hair and clothes wet, and those same clothes ripped in some places.

This was the result when she went to the men's bathroom, in the ground floor, after learning that something huge occurred there.

Reaching there, she couldn't even begin to observe the situation, when a group of crying and enraged students approached her.

The group was composed of both young men and women, that were related, in some way, to Rose, Beth, Derek, Tom or Christian, especially this last one.

The news of the deaths of four of those five, rapidly circulated the school building, and, with the use of technology – phones and such, spread through the island.

So, it was safe to say that they were not here to thank her and hug her out of happiness, especially since she was the sister of the cause behind all of their suffering, that was gone. In short words, the perfect outlet for their pain they were feeling right now, especially the friend of Rose and Beth. Her eyes were red and cheeks swollen.

Sarah: "To think that he suffered like this every day....no.... he endured far more... and I did nothing to help him."

Looking at her shaking hands, she couldn't help but think of broken and trembling figure of her brother. Just the simple thought that he was able to take all of it and still smile at her with love was something that caused her heart to ache in pain.

Sarah: I am the worst sister of history.
