Prologue
“You should have never worked for that asshole Lia.” I examined the surroundings and found a dead goat with its throat slit right beside me. She seemed to have killed it right after I passed out.
“What do YOU know Sophia!?” With her eyes red from lack of sleep, it only added to her today’s aesthetic look which seemed to be an insane bitch.
“Just because you have a good life doesn’t mean everyone else does to!” She shouted at the top of her lungs which made my ears hurt.
“What do you know about my life? I fucking raised you, fed you, and acted as your older sister. I worked my ass out there working graveyard shifts just so I could send both of us to school.” I couldn’t believe that this was the Lia I grew up with, no, the Lia I raised and loved. She was far from who she was and what I raised her to be.
“Just because I became successful, just because I’m living my life to the fullest, just because I’m happy doesn’t mean I didn’t go through shit! You know what I went through, you were there!” I shouted out of frustration. She isn’t herself anymore, she’s a completely different person eaten by her greed.
“You’re not my Lia, you’re now just an insane fucking bitch who massacred people.” Besides offering people as “sacrifice”, she’s now offering me as her final one.
I don’t know what cog broke inside her head but she’s now murdering people in the pretense of “greater good”.
“Shut the fuck up, I’m still me, but better! Someone who realized that the world is filled with idiots easily fooled with materialistic shit. I just used that to my advantage.”
“I just want what’s best for both of us Sophia, and you know that, you just have to agree and this will all end.” She came near me and put the knife right next to my face as if taunting me.
.
.
*gasp* ‘I- where am I?’ I gained consciousness and saw an unfamiliar painted ceiling. I slowly sat up from lying down and a wet towel fell from my forehead.
‘Wait- no, who am I’ I looked at my current situation. I was sitting on a king-sized bed under pink sheets surrounded by dolls. The room was luxuriously designed with pinks, frills, and creams.
‘creepy...’ It was as if the ball-jointed dolls were staring at me. They were really pretty though; it just feels icky. I sat there staring at my surroundings when I noticed a spark of light coming out of nowhere. The spark soon became a ball of flash which made me panic a bit.
‘Perhaps I’m dreaming?’ I took a deep breath and tried making sense of my situation.
‘hello.’ D-did it just talked?
“What- *Cough*” I tried speaking but my throat was drier than the Sahara Desert which made coughing even worse. It felt like my throat was getting scratched. I saw a pint of glass on the bedside table and tried pouring myself a glass of water.
I seem to have underestimated my strength since as soon as I lifted the pint of glass, it fell right on the ground causing a huge mess and a loud sound of breaking glass. I tried picking the broken pieces of glass because of the mess but it pricked me.
‘ow-. ‘ Wait that hurts…dreams don’t hurt. I sucked the blood from my finger and it soon stopped bleeding as it was only a small wound.
Soon, the door was opened with a loud bang and in came an old woman. And from what she’s wearing, she must be a maid.
“Miss Isabella!” The old woman who was holding a cart rushed in and quickly cleaned the broken glass. She had nice gray hair which was a sign of old age, it was tied in a bun which kept it away from her face; she looked to be in her 40’s.
‘Isabella…that’s not my name, is it?’ The old woman called me by a name that I haven’t heard before and it made me think about my name. I know that isn’t my name, but I can’t remember my name either.
“You must have been thirsty, here.” She threw the glass she cleaned up then rolled the cart towards the bed. She then poured me a glass of water. I drank it of course, and I could finally swallow properly without coughing.
I looked at the light whilst I was drinking and back at the maid. I seem to be the only one who can see the floating light hovering on top of the bed.
“You could have gotten hurt, you should always call for me if you can’t do it young miss.” She wiped the wet ground with a towel and hid it under the cart. I examined the cart which had warm soup on it and a bunch of unidentified medicine.

‘Modafinil...isn’t that medicine taken by people with sleeping issues?’ People with a hard time staying awake usually take it. Someone who works night shifts, or someone with a condition such as narcolepsy.
‘Wait how do I know this?’ Even more confusing is that I know what they’re used for. It made me wonder if I have sleeping issues.
The old woman made me eat the warm soup and made me drink the medicine. I did this all without speaking and just contemplating what situation I’m in. The fact that I was calm with that floating thing on top of the bed, and that I don’t even remember a single thing was weird.
‘I don’t even know my name.’ I sighed to myself and took the medicine handed to me.
‘Your name’s Demi.’ The light spoke as I was taking the medicine.
The name was familiar, and it felt like it made sense that my name is Demi but, who’s Isabella?
“Who am I?” I whispered to myself wondering whose name Isabella was. The maid heard this and was worried about what I said.
“What do you mean young miss? Did someone tell you off again?” Tell me off again? What?
“I swear, it’s those kids from the academy telling you you’re adopted right? It’s honestly silly.” She said as she took the glass of water from me and set it on the cart.
“I was there when your mother gave birth to you, don’t believe those stupid kids.”
“You are Isabella Cassandra Astley, the only daughter of the Astley’s. You aren’t adopted ok?” The old woman caressed by cheeks and kissed my forehead right after that and took the lap table with the finished food on it.
“I’ll bring a new pitcher of water so just rest for now sweetie.” She then walked out of the room closing the door behind her.
“Where am I?” I quickly turned to the ball of light as it seems to know my situation better than I do.
‘What I’m about to tell you might be confusing but you’re not in your body as of the moment.’ The light flickered as it spoke back.
‘Do you remember anything? You must remember something even if it’s a tiny detail try to remember it.’ The light blabbed and tried to get me to remember anything.
“Don’t you know something? I thought you knew my name?” I replied.
‘Well, I only know your name, but you need to remember, otherwise, you’ll lose yourself entirely.’ A strange white light telling me to remember something when I can’t remember anything is more than enough confusing for me.
“How am I going to remember if I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO REMEMBER?!” I was getting frustrated by what it’s saying and it’s not helping at all.
‘*sigh* okay, you’re not in your real body, you’re currently inside the body of a sixteen-year-old girl named Isabella Cassandra Astley.’ It tried explaining my situation and continued.
‘You have to remember your name or even just a fraction of your original memory so that you can come back to your true body.’
“Well, why am I not in my true body?” It sounds so crazy and out of this world but it was the only thing that could explain my situation other than me thinking I’m hallucinating or dreaming.
‘That- I do not know. I saw your soul in a fractured state and from the looks of it, your soul was forcibly ripped out from your body which was the reason why you’re only a third of a soul.’
“Can you get me back in my own body then?” I asked.
‘Ah, that. I could do that...back then.’ Back then? Can’t he do it now?
“Why, can’t you do it now?” I asked
‘About that, I’m not really in a state where I can perform anything. I could barely save your soul with my abilities so I matched you with a compatible body; I can’t return you as of the moment.’ The light explained.
“Then, then what am I going to do now!?” I asked in a desperate manner. I feel so weird right now, nothing feels right, my body doesn’t feel right, I can barely process anything that’s happening.
‘If I had my abilities I could get you back but, it’s an entirely different situation.’
“Well, can’t you get your abilities back?” I asked.
‘It’s easier said than done. And I actually need your help with that.’
“Help you get your power back? How?”
‘I’m searching for something, well, some things. I’m searching for pieces of my core.’
“What happened to your core?” I wanted it to elaborate more as I am completely clueless as to what it means by its “core”.
‘My core is the source of my abilities, it’s my essence, and without my essence…I can die. I only have a small fraction of my core as it was forcibly taken away from me.’
“Do you know how we can find them?” I wanted to remember who I was and I want to go back.
‘I do, I just can’t take it in my current state. To tell you exactly, you’re in a different reality, it works the same from where you came from, but you’re in a totally different dimension in which I take control. Now I would normally take wandered souls back to their own reality so that they could live their own fate or…die but you’re the only compatible soul that exists and I needed help. So I used a large amount of my essence to put your soul in that girl’s body.’ The light explained in detail which made things much better to understand.
“Are you some sort of ‘god’ then? To be able to put souls in bodies?” I started asking questions to feed my cluelessness, I could only ask the light since he know what happened.
‘Ah…well, a god is a supreme being right? I wouldn’t call myself that since I’m not really the strongest amongst my family.’ Oh, so he has a family.
“So, all I have to do is take the pieces of core and bring them back to you? How many are there anyway?”
‘There’s eleven pieces in total and I need four parts of my core to send you back to your own reality, I have one as of the moment which is keeping me alive.’
“You’re barely alive, is that why you’re just a ball of light? Do you have a form?”
‘I used to have a form, but I need a whole core to get one.’ The light sounded depressed so I didn’t pry any further.
“Well…what do I do now?” I asked since I can’t remember anything and don’t know what to do with my situation.
‘Ah yes, I’ll have to transfer Isabella’s memories to you.’
“Wouldn’t that take a lot of your essence?”
‘Well, yes, but we don’t really have a choice. Besides, I won’t die.’ It seemed to think that I was worried of its situation but honestly, I couldn’t care less on what happens to it.
“How will you transfer the memories then?” I asked. Is it some kind of long ritual and something I need to prepare for?
‘I just need you to pass out, otherwise, it’ll hurt.’
“OH, ok.” I thought it was a long process. I just laid down on the bed to get ready to pass out.
‘Oh and by the way, you might also get some of your memories back. And if that was the case you HAVE to remember and hold on to it.’ It emphasized how I need to remember who I was.
“What happens if I don’t?” I asked out of curiosity.
‘You lose yourself, and trust me you don’t want that. If you completely lose your identity and forget who you are, you won’t make it back to your own dimension. Worst case scenario you’ll get lost in the abyssal realm and stay there for god knows how long.’
“Okaaay- I’ll make sure to remember.” I don’t know what the abyssal realm is and I wouldn’t want to know what it is either.
‘One last thing, you won’t be able to see me for a few days since I’d need to recover. Make use of the knowledge and memories you’d gain wisely.’ I just nodded at what it said and closed my eyes tightly.
With that, the small light began to chant something. For some reason, I thought that it would hurt a lot but I couldn’t feel anything, the next thing I know I passed out completely.
