So much better in person? The recording doesn’t do me justice? It hit me like a ton of bricks, she knew! This whole time she had been messing with me so I immediately exclaimed

“You know!”

To which Helena just kept smiling like I hadn’t said a single thing I started to speak again

“You knew the whole time I was…”

I was cut off by Helena who had closed the distance between us in a single stride and reached out grabbing my chin and lifting my head to face her which is when she said

“Your reward for a most marvelous performance.”

Before then leaning and kissing me which turned out to be a rather effective way of making me forget about the fact that I had ever been mad. When she finally pulled away I had an idiotic grin on my face and feeling almost drunk off the kiss asked

“Any other request?”

Which made Helena laugh. I continued to play a number of my songs, only saying no to Home Of Demons because that one was stupid and I regret ever making it and I have no clue why people like it.

A few hours later I was just strumming the guitar while my head rested on Helena’s lap as she ran her fingers through my hair had me feeling quite cozy so when when helena said

“You can go to sleep if you want.”

While I didn’t need to sleep I also was not going to pass up a prime napping opportunity pass me by. So I placed the guitar on the ground next to me, then closed my eyes and focused on Helena stroking my hair and it wasn’t long before I was asleep.

l finally I broke through into a giant chamber knowing I had reached my destination, the central chamber of the hive. Then Titania marked the zone in the middle representing the acceptable zone for the swarm to go. I went to launch myself into the air to find it already full of Antithesis. So I just charged forward in an attempt to cut a path through.

I tried to press through but the more I killed the more came. The realization that I wasn’t going to make it that Mia was going to die because I had failed her.

Rage flooded me. I loosed an incoherent roar of rage. I launched myself forward once again slashing, stabbing, bludgeoning, clawing, bitting, and growling but it didn’t matter there was always more Antithesis to take the ones I killed’s place this stronger and tougher than their predecessor, and their numbers never stopped increasing it didn’t matter how ferociously I fought.

Soon there were just too many of them and I was taken to the ground trapped beneath their mass, I continued to rage against them but it was no use.

Then I was somewhere else being shaken and held in a pair of strong arms holding close. A steady voice was saying

“Shhhh, you are safe, It was just a dream.”

And I stopped my thrashing for a moment but continued a low warning growl muscles tensed to lash out the moment a target presented itself. The rage that had filled me began to dissipate, leaving me confused on what was happening so I stilled and let the voice calm me. Eventually I realized that the voice and person holding me was Helena and I stopped my growling. Eventually the rage was gone and I could think clearly. I was not in the hive. I had been successful in my objective there.

I was at Helena’s home and had gone to take a nap and had dreamed I failed at the hive. I then told Helena who was still holding me and talking soothingly to me

“I am alright now.”

Helena let me go and looked around and found I damaged the couch in my thrashing, but luckily it seemed I hadn’t hurt Helena who asked

“Bad dream?”

To which I nodded and said

“Yeah. Sorry about the couch.”

Which made Helena chuckle and say

“Don’t worry about it.”

To which I dipped my head and said

“I should probably go.”

As I turned to leave helena stood up and kissed me which did a very good job of stopping me in my tracks, she then chuckled and said

“Don’t forget I am also a vanguard. It is going to take a little bit more than some teeth and growling to scare me off.”

Which was a huge relief as I had thought I had pretty much botched any chances I thought I had with Helena. I let her lead me to a different couch as the one we had been on was well and truly destroyed.

When we sat down she asked

“Seemed like you saw some pretty scary stuff. Want to talk about it?”

Her use of the word scary made me frown and say

“It wasn’t scary, I can’t feel fear any more, it is part of the side effects of the learning architectures.”

To which Helena looked thoughtful but I continued as I might as well

“I dreamed I back in the hive only this time when I got to the central chamber, there was an endless amount of Antithesis no matter how hard I fought I couldn’t kill them fast enough, and as I got overwhelmed I just got angrier and angrier which is what you saw the result of.”

Helena pulled me into a hug and just held me for a while which was nice so I wasn’t about to complain. When she eventually let me go we turned back to less intense topics until we both got a message and she told me

“Well duty calls I just got a message saying there’s an incursion.”

To which I nodded

“Same”

This had me instantly excited, finally a proper fight where I could truly unleash with no goal beyond the eradication of my enemy, and even better there might be a few antithesis actually capable of giving me a good fight so I asked happily

“What tier?”

She responded

“Early reports suggest D tier.”

Dang it there was unlikely to be very much fun stuff to fight in there, but it would still be fun to slaughter them. But I was unable to keep pout off my face and my disappointment off my face when I said

“Sounds like we should get going.”

My glumness at the news that the incursion was only D tier was met with a chuckle and an eye roll from Helena. But she said

“Indeed, see you at the strategy meeting?”

I wrinkled my nose at that, there was no way I was about to follow someone else’s plan or sit back waiting on the defensive. But because I am a very reasonable person I said

“No thanks! Both you and Mia have my contact information. If you really need me to do something, if you give me a call or send me a message I will probably do it.”

She began leading me toward the way we had come in and asked

“Probably?”

To which I shot her a grin, shrugged, and said

“If you need help though I will be there as fast as I can no question.”

She let loose a sigh and asked

“Then what will you be doing?”

I shot her another grin and said

“Killing as many of them as possible while looking for the strong one so I can kill them too, obviously.”

When we reached the garage she said

“Well in that case if I don’t see you during, I guess I will see you after we can have a victory celebration.”

To which I nodded enthusiastically, and as I waited for the roof of the garage to finish opening I swapped from my dress clothes to my normal outfit. Before with my boldness boosted by the excitement of the upcoming fight I used my wings to float up to eye level with Helena so that I could kiss her. When I pulled back my face was in a manic grin and I said

“See you then!”

Then I fully spread my wings and shot myself into the air, without even having to ask Titania displayed directions to Mia’s Tower so I could collect my swords. I flew as fast as I could to get there and so was there in a few minutes.

I landed on the balcony of my room and went inside collecting my swords from their resting place on my bed and attached them to their spots. Then I strode toward the sound of Mia gearing up.

I found her on the floor below the main living floor which is where she kept all her gear. As I entered I announced my presence by saying

“Hey”

Which made Mia look up from her gear and she said

“Guessing you got the notification about the incursion.”

To which I nodded and replied

“Yep. Figured I would let you know that they think it is just a D tier one.”

She nodded at that before grinning at me and replying

“Did Kitsune tell you that? Speaking of Kitsune you sure were out late, and now you only come back because there is an incursion? People might assume you two were doing inappropriate things.”

She then wiggled her eyebrows at me. To which I replied by glaring at her and saying

“Last time I get information that you might like to know and share it with you. By the way if you need help during this let me know and I will be there.”

Before spinning around to head towards the elevator on my say out Mia yelled after me

“That wasn’t a no!”

To which I promptly responded by holding my middle finger up as I continued on my way out which was met by laughter from Mia.

I went to the roof where I checked the location of the nearest hoard it was still a good distance away from the city. So I said

“Titania it is time for the hover bike, let's not go cheap here Also lets upgrade the catalog to class four. I want to get there fast and I want it to be able to stay on standby if I need to change locations quickly.”

This latest expenditure left me at 1,190,949 points as on top of these expenditures I had purchased the musical instruments catalog and upgraded it to class three. The bike screamed vanguard as it was clearly beyond earth technology. It still looked like a sports bike and was black with glowing purple accents, but I barely registered what it looked as I jumped on it. I only saw it as something that could get me to the enemy faster.

I immediately spurred it to life and got it into the air as soon as I was high enough I pointed it toward the hoard and gave it full throttle and used my wings to go even faster and soon I was moving toward the hoard at mach three.

When I was a few miles out still I jumped from the bike sending it away to a safe distance. On my way down to the hoard I slowed only as much as I had to to avoid taking damage, But I still impacted the ground hard enough to crush the Antithesis that had been standing where I had landed.

I had landed in their midst and before the Antithesis could react to my presence I launched my feathers. The next moment at least a thousand feathers were in the air creating a black cloud of death around me as I moved through the ranks of Antithesis any that entered my cloud died within the moment thousands of antithesis were dead.

I began flying through them. My path traced in their dead finally when I got to their center I encountered a few model forty-eights which were large and beatle, these were heavily armored which meant that they didn’t instantly die when they entered my cloud. Which only meant that they lived a fraction of a second longer as I was on them with my swords, their warp fire making a mockery of the model forty-eights’s armor and they joined the rest of the dead. It didn’t take me long to finish the rest of the hoard.

I was laughing the entire time, because nothing else could make me feel as alive as ending life, it was just right, it was what I was made to do.

It had by no means the main force, as incursions were drawn out afars that came in waves that would be spread out over several days. This hoard had just been one of this wave’s probing forces, which meant if I wanted a proper fight I needed to attack this wave's main force, but on my way there if I was going to pass any more probing hoards I could take them out.

I called my hoverbike and started to climb as I did, I looked down and I smiled wildly at the destruction I had wrought. The next few days wouldn’t be boring.
