Robert read the novels again, noting down the points again as he did so. While killed by truck was the most popular choice, trains didn’t lag far behind. A robbery gone wrong was third, beaten up by bullies was fourth.
He decided on the bullies turned robbers scenario. A software engineer, like him, (yet not too much, he knew the dangers of being your own protagonist) who died while purchasing... groceries? No, that didn’t seem too realistic. He died while purchasing fast food. Yeah, that’s how should it be.
But wait, there was one more thing to decide, a more important thing than the means of death, the motivation of the character. While most chose the aimless protagonist and a fresh start in the new world, there were others who died with a purpose, and it carried over through the story.
Which would be better? A man, finally free of his broken life, given a chance to start anew? Or a man who was tied to his destiny, moving forward towards the same dream in another life, in spite of all the obstacles - the final enemy?

Deep thoughts, for such a simple matter. Still, he couldn’t let go.
His phone suddenly rang
“There’s a problem with my mouse,” A man empathetically screamed into the receiver. “There’s no wire in it?”.
“Yes, we replaced it with wireless ones. Is there a problem, sir?”
“How can a mouse work without a wire? Change it back!!”
“Sir, have you tried using -”
“NO! I told you to change it back! I can’t work with this thing! What if I throw it away suddenly?”
“Sir, it’s the company -”
“DAMN YOU! I SAID CHANGE IT BACK, so CHANGE IT BACK!” The man screamed. “DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHO I AM?”
He was Gab, the fat office guy from accounting who had a new problem every week and called Robert to bother him. “Yes, sir, I do. I will change it shortly.” Without waiting for a response, he slammed down the receiver. Guy complained literally every week, yet he still didn’t remember Robert’s name. And he was forced to serve under morons like this.
Cursing under his breath, he went to search for a mouse. The story would have to wait.
