Riding the plasma wheel motorbike, Havana had been circling the open jungLe several times. In speed, avoided the trees and large boulders. The biker stopped near the river, next to a waterfall. It has been five days since Akym was brought to their settlement, hidden in the wide jungle. Havana and Benji, and the other Fringe people had tightened their schedule and increased their patrolling frequency to ensure no intruders or attackers.
The hidden settlement of Fringe people were multiple underground huts camouflaged under the forest canopy. With some visual distortion waves, they were able to hide themselves from being discovered by satellites and drones. Land rovers, however, might be able to find them. Although they have installed multiple security cameras and movement sensors, they still need manual frequent patrolling to ensure everything works accordingly. They had survived and thrived without relying on the advanced science and technology of Terrabumi.
“Section North and East, clear.” Pressing her left ear piece, Havana reported.
“Section South and West clear.” Benji replied while riding a large rusted hoverboard, yawning and moving towards Havana. She noticed that he was tired, the dark circle and eye bags saids it all.
“Great, Ben. You should have taken more breaks. Spend more time with Akym.”
“No worries, he is getting better. He even started to work at Doc’s workshop yesterday. Besides, I feel eerily peaceful. We have the President's son here.”
Havana felt the same. Something just did not smell right, but she was unable to detect any signs of it. She had received the information from their allies living in the cities. The mainstream channels took the kidnap incident like nothing at all.

“[The President do not wish to negotiate with the terrorists], those are the messages reported on the news. Other than that, they provide no other public announcement. Not even the insider memo had anything mentioned about Akym.” said Havana.
“Hav, how hard is it to recover from the brain mod?” Benji asked.

Havana knew that he was worried about Akym all the time. Although Benji kept telling her that Akym was on track for recovery, she knew Akym was still unable to express any emotion at all.
Havana previously had gone through a series of brain mods. An old methodology performed by Xandesh to verify the ancient Pavlov’s experiment.
“Every time when the nanobot implant detects a feminine signal on my brain, it will convert the signal into masculine, or defuse it to prevent me from thinking. I believe they planted the same nanobot in Akym. It is torturous. It feels like my soul is trapped, trying to scream, but I can't move my mouth.”
“I am worried, Hav, but I am hopeful. Hopeful because of you, Hav. Because you have been under their prescribed medication over the full three years of therapy. Yet your soul still remains.”
“Yup! The ancient Pavlov is able to induce the dogs to salivate when he rings the bell, but the truth is, the dog might not be hungry at all. The experiment is flawed. If they ring the bell all day continuously, the dog won’t salivate in every ring of the bell. Same case when the dog was fed all day. No matter how loud he rings the bell, a dog won’t salivate if it does have desire to eat.”
“I’m the second case! When I believe that I am a woman all the time, it is impossible for the triggered nanobots to induce multiple reactions that make me accept to be a man.”
“If Kym thinks of me all the time…” said Benji
“Yes, if so, the nanobot will break down and Akym shall break free from all those mind controlling parasites.” Havana replied with a big smile.
