Prologue
Hong Kong's bustling streets teemed with life. The city was a kaleidoscope of neon lights and ceaseless activity, where modernity and tradition blended seamlessly. Among the throngs of people, a group of friends ambled down a dimly lit alleyway, laughter and conversation drowning out the distant hum of traffic.
It was late, and the group had decided to take a shortcut through one of the older parts of the city, where ancient temples and modern skyscrapers stood side by side [https://img.wattpad.com/1b62a52d33ed31b6d29784d8339d5c901d2a9178/68747470733a2f2f73332e616d617a6f6e6177732e636f6d2f776174747061642d6d656469612d736572766963652f53746f7279496d6167652f5a326765646e4450666c52376f773d3d2d313435383133323632302e313764653031356361333334643563373334373132303036343331302e706e67?s=fit&w=1280&h=1280]
It was late, and the group had decided to take a shortcut through one of the older parts of the city, where ancient temples and modern skyscrapers stood side by side. The friends-Chun, Jian, Min, and Hao-were returning from a night out, their spirits high and their camaraderie palpable.
Chun, a petite woman with a bubbly personality, led the way. Her infectious laughter echoed through the alley, making the dark passage feel a bit less ominous. "Come on, guys! It's not that scary," she teased, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
Jian, a tall and athletic young man, rolled his eyes but smiled. "Yeah, but I think I've seen this alley in every horror movie ever," he joked, earning a round of laughter from his friends.
Min, a quiet and thoughtful woman, walked beside Hao, her best friend since childhood. She glanced around, her brow furrowing slightly. "Still, let's not linger too long," she suggested, her voice tinged with a hint of caution.
Hao, ever the optimist, clapped a hand on her shoulder. "Relax, Min. We'll be out of here in no time," he assured her, his confidence easing her nerves.
As they continued, the alley grew darker and quieter. A sudden chill in the air made Chun shiver. "Did you feel that?" she whispered, clutching her jacket tighter around herself. Her friends brushed it off as nothing more than the cool night air.
"Probably just a draft," Jian said, trying to sound nonchalant, though he felt a slight unease creeping in.
They walked a bit further when Chun stopped abruptly. "Look," she said, pointing to a strange, flickering light at the end of the alley. It was an ethereal glow, both captivating and eerie.
"Maybe we should turn back," Min suggested, her voice trembling slightly.
"Nonsense," Hao said, curiosity piqued. "Let's check it out. Could be something interesting."
As they approached the light, a figure emerged from the shadows, its presence both alluring and terrifying. A cursed spirit stood before them, her silver hair flowing like liquid mercury, and her violet eyes glowing with an unearthly light. Her delicate features were twisted into a sinister smile.
"What do we have here?" she purred, her voice like silk over glass. The friends stopped in their tracks, captivated by her presence, unable to look away.
Chun's eyes glazed over as the cursed spirit's technique took hold. She walked towards the spirit, as if in a trance. The others watched in horror, unable to move or speak. The spirit's delicate hand reached out, and with a swift motion, she slashed across Chun's throat. Blood sprayed across the alley, and Chun collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
The remaining friends snapped out of their stupor, screaming and trying to flee. The spirit's laughter echoed through the alley, a haunting melody that promised death. She moved with inhuman speed, her lithe form a blur as she caught the next victim, Jian.
Jian struggled, but the spirit's strength was overwhelming. She held him aloft by his neck, her fingers digging into his flesh. "Such a shame," she whispered, her eyes gleaming with sadistic pleasure. With a flick of her wrist, she snapped his neck and discarded his body like a broken doll.
Two friends remained, their panic fueling their desperate flight. They dashed around a corner, hoping to find safety, but instead stumbled upon another cursed spirit. His massive form blocked their path, a grotesque figure of insatiable hunger. His beady eyes fixed on them with a predatory gleam.

The spirit's mouth opened impossibly wide, revealing rows of jagged teeth. Before they could react, he lunged forward, consuming Hao whole. Min screamed in terror as the maw closed around Hao's midsection, crunching down with a sickening snap.
Min backed away, her eyes darting around for an escape. She turned to run, only to be ensnared by yet another cursed spirit. His golden skin shimmered in the dim light, and his jewel-like eyes sparkled with malicious intent.
"Where do you think you're going?" he sneered, his elongated fingers wrapping around Min's arm. She struggled, but his grip was like iron. He lifted her off the ground, pulling her close. "You have something I want," he hissed, and with a swift motion, he drained her life force, leaving her as a withered husk.
The alley fell silent, the only sound the distant hum of the city that remained blissfully unaware of the horrors that had just unfolded [https://img.wattpad.com/68c9634047091ece4b44c541c84a3c11fb5ee03d/68747470733a2f2f73332e616d617a6f6e6177732e636f6d2f776174747061642d6d656469612d736572766963652f53746f7279496d6167652f754c6561563568704335744b31413d3d2d313435383133323632302e313764653032373561626362356165383533363433323334323636352e6a7067?s=fit&w=1280&h=1280]
The alley fell silent, the only sound the distant hum of the city that remained blissfully unaware of the horrors that had just unfolded. The cursed spirits stood amid the carnage, their twisted satisfaction evident.
"That was... enjoyable," the silver-haired spirit mused, wiping a speck of blood from her cheek.
The grotesque spirit let out a satisfied belch, patting his bloated stomach. "Humans always taste so good when they're terrified!"
The golden-skinned spirit's eyes gleamed with greed as he inspected the valuables he had pilfered from the corpses. "Indeed, and there's so much more to take."
The three spirits exchanged knowing glances. Their presence in Hong Kong was a harbinger of something far more sinister.
As the cursed spirits vanished into the shadows, the alley lay in ruin, a stark reminder of the malevolent force now at play. And so, the stage was set for the arrival of those who would stand against this ancient evil..

The next day, the alleyway was a scene of chaos and confusion. Police officers swarmed the area, cordoning off the scene with yellow "Do Not Cross" tape. The morning sun cast harsh shadows on the bloodstained ground, where the bodies of Chun, Jian, Min, and Hao lay lifeless, a grim reminder of the previous night's horrors.

Detective Zhang, a seasoned investigator with graying hair and a stern expression, stood over the bodies, trying to make sense of the carnage. His partner, Detective Li, took notes, her face pale and tense.
"This doesn't make any sense," Zhang muttered, shaking his head. "No signs of a struggle, but the injuries... it's like something out of a nightmare."
Li nodded, her eyes scanning the alley. "It's almost as if they were paralyzed. And the wounds... who or what could do this?"
As they pondered the scene, a man with grey hair and golden eyes, dressed in a brown jacket over a white tank top, approached the tape. A lit cigarette dangled from his lips, a thin plume of smoke trailing behind him. His gaze was sharp, taking in every detail with a calculating intensity. Without hesitation, he ducked under the tape, striding purposefully towards the detectives.
"Hey! You can't be here!" shouted Officer Chen, moving to intercept the man. "This is a restricted area. Step back now."
The man reached into his pocket and produced a badge, holding it up for Chen to see. The officer's eyes widened in surprise as he read the credentials, recognizing the authority behind them.
"My apologies, sir," Chen stammered, stepping aside. "Please, go ahead."
The man gave a curt nod and continued his approach, taking a long drag from his cigarette before flicking the ash to the ground. As he reached the detectives, they looked up, their expressions a mix of curiosity and suspicion.
"I'm Ryouke Sosin," he introduced himself, his voice cold and measured. "I'm here to assist with the investigation."
