The night is cold and smell of rotten steel, it’s been the third days now that the rain pours down upon Eva’s village. Standing on this bridge, she remembers all the fond memory of her childhood with her friend and family.
The bridge makes creak sound of old pine wood but Eva knows that the rope will hold just like it always did. Only She wishes that it might not be so today.
As the bridge wave back and forth, Eva stood still, waiting...thinking. for she does not see tomorrow and the past is now but a knife that pierces through her heart and pull her further below.
A clap of wing jumps down next to her. Eva turns to look and see a blackbird with blue eyes covered in cold drop of ice, a common raven and one that looks suspiciously young.
“What are you doing here little one” she asked. Not really care for a reason but felt the need to connect with something before the end.
“oh I’m just some bird passing by, was flying above that mountain and noticed you standing alone in the middle of this shaky old bridge, right above a raging river. So I swoop down to check in on you” the raven speaks as he points his wing up in the sky from which he came from.
Eva looks up, passes the wind and the storm, upon the mountain that stood along the star and wonder how could he see her from up there and why would raven care for trash like her.
“So why a lady such as yourself would come out here alone on this howling night” the raven asked unshaken by the thunder and wind that blew off the rust of old steel.
Eva ponders the question, blind to the reason of how could she hear the raven when all the sky scream and steam covered all her senses. “A god has punished me” she answered.
The raven smile “The god is not here” he said, almost laughing. “no one has punished you so go back to your home and be with your family for they need you and you need them.” the raven finish what he come to say and yet for some reason unknown to him, he has not taken off and be on his way.
“I can’t” her teardrops “My family and my loved is dead, the great green plague from the north has claimed them. Leaving me behind with nothing but sorrow and resentment.”

Suddenly the storm stop and the wind die as the gentle warmth of moonlight shine down on to her reveal a baby in her womb, kicking wishing to live.
“Will you take him with you?” the raven asked, feeling pity for a child but know he could not force her to let him onto this world if she does not believe it is good.
“Everyone I love is dead” she looks down on a shattering wave below.
“The child loves you” said the raven. Looking at Eva who overwhelmed by emotion and not of one mind and ponders his action.
Should he leave her be? The raven thought.
After a brief moment the raven bites off the robe that holds the bridge, bringing them down.
Eva panic with blackbird sudden action and rush out as the robe make whipping sound, tearing every piece of splat into the river.
She barely made it.
Looking at a nearby branch covered in green blister, Eva wishes the plague take that dam bird just like it takes everything and everyone around her.
“Why did you do that” Eva screams in anger as if the raven has tried to kill her.
“You were overwhelmed by emotion and can’t think clearly so I help you decided” the raven said as he preens himself.
Eva stood still as she feels the kick inside her. She looks back at the fallen bridge and realizes her family would have wanted her to live if not for herself then for this child.
She turns to the tree as truth fall onto her.
bird can’t talk.
And then he was gone. Fly away as if he is never here.
"Thank you” Eva said to a black star in the sky and walk home.
Many years later Eva was lying in an open grave, her body was pale and cold. A beautiful flower of many colors was placed alongside her. Air and fire have left her body but her spirit will always remain with her son.
Jonathan stood alongside her grave and paid her respect by thought of their memory together. Now he must venture into the world and make something of his own.
A caw was heard and Jonathan turns to look at the raven who was spying him from a nearby tree.
“Go away from her” he shouts.
“Well, I’m not going to eat her” the raven thought “Sure She may look delicious now but it wasn’t like I going to just eat someone I knew”
The raven looks at Jonathan and content that the boy is starting his first step into hell.
Jonathan walks closer to chase the raven away but the raven just caws a few times for Eva before fly away once more.
Jonathan will never see the raven again.
But the raven will see him again.
