Journey of the Lost
Prologue: The Beginning

Prologue: The Beginning

The world lay barren, wasted by the fires of war and pollution of man. Everywhere, battles raged on between remnants of armies fighting for fallen countries. State of the art technology rested as piles of scrap on scorched lands, alongside burnt remains of humans, combatants and civilians alike.

In a certain battlefield stood a man. Covered in scars, lean and muscular, akin to a leopard's physique. For hours, he had gunned down men and women alike as they tried to take him down in return. None succeeded, and so he stood amongst corpses and wreckages of modern military marvels.

Tossing aside his weapons, he went to sit by a wall, exhausted by the fight before. He drank from his worn out canteen, a gift he had gotten from a lover long lost in the river of time. The nostalgia made him tear up a little, wondering where it all went wrong.

It was then that he got a strange message. It wasn't on his smartphone. No, instead, it appeared in his vision, directly in his field of view. He had heard of new biotechnologies developed that would allow such a thing, but he never received the latest developments. Trying to recall how to interact with such a thing, he eventually gave up and tried to open it with his thoughts instead.

[ Greetings, human.

You have proven yourself a champion of chaos, an immortal mortal. On this world, there will be legends of you in times to come.

Though, you did not embark on this path by choice. It was fate that lead you down this lonely road, this road so filled with thorns and misery. The only reason why, is because of your innate weakness as a mortal human.

I, the God of Chaos, offer you a contract.

This contract entails you leaving behind this world, this reality, and being transported to another. You may do whatever you wish with your body, so long as you sign this contract.

If you don't, it will be a chance missed out, but it will be of no concern to me as a god.

Consider carefully, human.]

Reading through this message prompted a linked document to appear in his vision, what appeared to be the aforementioned contract in the message. If it truly was by a god, this act of signing it would forevermore change his life. If it wasn't, and it was by a foolish scammer, no harm done. He could hunt down any fool so long as they remained on this Earth.

So he signed the contract.
