Chapter 4: Memories

Hyrkan finally arrived at the village. He was causally enjoying the peace while cultivating when he saw a scene he was too familiar with. A skinny girl about 18 was holding hands with a younger boy about 7, while trying to sell homemade clay sculptures. The girl was asking all the people around here if they wanted to buy them.

Flashback:

“Sis, are you ok?” a little boy with tears running down his face was looking at a girl with a huge red hand mark on her face.

“The next time you report me to the city chief, it would be the end of you bitch!” a man wearing a expensive looking clothes stared at the girl with hatred. The little boy tightly gripped the girl’s clothes. Hatred filled his eyes. The kid got up and was about to hit the man, but the man punched the kid in the face. Although the kid was knocked down, he immediately got up again. The man lifted the kid up and shoved him to the ground again.

“The next time you dare to bother us again, it will be your death” The man spat on the boy and walked away.

A drop of tear hit the floor. Usually, Hyrkan doesn’t blink an eye at anything, much less cry a bit. But this memory of his sister was really special to him. Every time he is training, he would always remind him that he needs to get strong in order to protect all the things he loved, like his sister.

Hyrkan walked up to the pair of siblings. He smiled and said “I would like to buy some of your works” After that, he threw two spirit coins at them (Spirit coins are the currency in the world 1 spirit coin is like 1000 dollars. Gold is 500, silver is 250, and bronze is 100. And then there is the nibs. One nib is like one dollars)

The girl grasped the two coins like they were the most precious thing to her (Well they are :D) “Thank you kind sir!”. Tears were dripping down her face. The boy was also in shock. He kneeled down and thanked Hyrkan.

“Both of you, stop.” Hyrkan stopped the two of them from thanking him. Then he walked away. It was these small acts of kindness that making him happy, instead of killing people. Surprisingly, as an assassin, Hyrkan actually had a small smile on his face when he walked away.

Hyrkan went back to the city and rented a room there to stay for the night. He decided that he will leave this city tomorrow,  as there are too many things to deal with in this city. He sat on a chair in his room and started sharpening all of his equipment. After a few seconds, a knocking sound can be heard from the door.

“House keeping!” said a voice. And then the person walked in. He looks like an ordinary man in a suite, except his the way he carries himself. The man carries himself like a noble, which makes Hyrkan suspicious. Plus, he was wearing a silver ring on his fourth finger, which no servant would carry. Hyrkan then decided that the man was too suspicious, so walked up to him

“No thanks.” Hyrkan then twisted his arms and snapped the man’s head. A silent kill. He then dragged the man’s body under his bed and switched clothes with the man. He walked out to check the surrounding. Not to Hyrkan’s surprise, he saw many armoured man surrounding the area with the same woman from last time.

“Not again” he thought. A soldier walked up to him and asked “Is the man who have offended the holy daughter of Alzaron in there?”

“No he is not”

“Are you sure?”

“I am most certainly sure”

“Ok, but the holy daughter would not be pleased” The solider then walked to the women from he met the first day he came here. The women stomped her feat and angrily screamed at the sky

“F**k your mother, F**k your dad and F**k you sister you godam son of a bitch!” Hyrkan acted calmly when he heard the words. But when the women started insulting his sister, anger filled his eyes. He raised his head and met the women’s gaze.

“You whore!” He took out his concealed short sword and got all of his hidden needles ready. The women then saw him.

“ITS YOU! SOlDIERS GO KILL HIM!” All of the solider rushed at Hyrkan. As the first one clashed with Hyrkan, he immediately struck a small gap between the chest armour and his neck armour, killing him instantly. He then spun around 360 degree, and shot all of his needles at the soldiers. Many of them died without knowing what hit them. He then opened a tine latch that was in his sword. Dark smoke came pouring out.

“I can’t see!”

“Help!”

“Is that you?”

“Arggh!”

Although dark smoke covered the entire inn, Hyrkan was still able to “see” everything by sensing the vibrations bellow his feet and in the air. “An assassin’s senses should be strong” Hyrkan thought. He flicked out the retractable blade at the heel of his boots and took out his boot knives. He then went around, stabbing every vital points of the soldiers around him.

As he stayed the two soldiers in front, he left the two blades in their throats. He then pulled a string on his shirt. A strong silk thread came out. He griped the silk on both ends and used it as a garrotte. He silently snuck up to a soldier and strangled him to death. He quickly changed clothes with the man and pretended to be a soldier. He ran out of the smoke hurriedly. He saw an staircase leading to the market. He sprinted  down the stair case and pretended to act like he was really scared. As soon as he got out of the building, he blended into the shadows and left without a trace.
