Chapter 1 Inconvenient Encounters

Liffel calmly walked the streets of Kaik, a small kingdom that had been left out of the conflict, preserved from the chaos of war. Her tracking skills guided her to a trail where her wedding with Marze took place, before everything became confusing and he disappeared without explanation. She arrived at the door of a tavern filled with soldiers. The bustle inside was intense; they were celebrating the last year of victory since the end of the war, but the air became tense as Liffel entered.

As he entered, his eyes fell on a familiar face: Zafius, close relative of the hero, someone he had heard dark rumors about. He knew that Zafius was a witch hunter, and the very idea of a union between his family and a witch was intolerable to him. At the sight of her, his expression turned into a mask of contempt.

-I knew I couldn't trust a witch,” said Zafius, advancing toward her with a slow step and an intimidating voice. He was a big man, dressed in silver armor. Surely you had something to do with her disappearance.

Liffel took a deep breath, holding back the rage beating in her chest. His gaze was on fire as he responded, firm:

-You should keep quiet. I'm looking for him while you celebrate a war that brought suffering to both sides.

Zafius paused, staring at her with a hateful gaze.

-Do you think I'm going to trust a witch? -Her voice was like poison. You will die right here.

Without taking his eyes off her, Zafius unsheathed a curved, gleaming knife, raising it high.

-Prepare to die with the knife that has killed over a thousand of your kind.

Liffel channeled his magic, letting a powerful energy awaken from deep within him. The air around began to vibrate, and the soldiers in the tavern looked at each other, confused, until a rumble shook them. In an instant, a gust of wind conjured by Liffel hurled them against the walls and ceiling. Zafius tried to resist, but the force of the magic pushed him back, forcing him back as the floor shattered beneath his feet.

Before Zafius could react, Liffel vanished into thin air, teleporting to the nearest forest.

-Unsheathe your swords! -Zafius said angrily, rising to his feet. The hunt is on!

The soldiers cheered, rising amidst the debris and chaos. Their hate-filled voices echoed through the bar.

-We will not leave a witch alive in this world,” Zafius swore.

Without missing a beat, the soldiers set out, ready to hunt down Liffel and any other witch who dared to challenge them.

Meanwhile, Liffel wandered into the forest of Savix, where the rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of birds created an almost magical atmosphere. It was then that she encountered a mysterious man. Tall and shrouded in dark robes, he appeared to be around forty years old. His aura was both sinister and sad, as if he carried with him the weight of countless secrets.

The man turned slowly, fixing his gaze on Liffel.

Arimerz watched her with interest, as if he could read her thoughts.

-I see in your eyes a great willpower, and you seem to be looking for something. You know, I too have been looking for someone for a long time. I wouldn't mind accompanying you on your journey around the world, until our paths diverge.

Liffel arched an eyebrow, hesitating.

-Well, I don't mind. But if you try anything, I won't even leave your ashes. By now, she was losing certain emotions from the war in Alik and Arcaladia, and all the hatred she had felt from people. He also missed his sister Lariel, whom he hadn't seen since the war ended.

Arimerz let out a soft, almost ironic laugh.

-What a cold girl. Well, my name is Arimerz, what's yours?

-It's not a time to smile. Besides, my race is not very respected,” said Liffel with a serious look. My name is Liffel.

-Sometimes legends come true,” Arimerz replied, looking at her with intrigue. What is our next destination, Liffel?

-The Altar of Veztuo,” said Liffel. It is said that there is good information there because of its large community. Maybe we'll find what we need.

-Let's go,” said Arimerz, moving forward with determination.
