Prologue - The First Step

"Hey,

Morgan here. Just wanted to let you know that I'll be leaving indefinitely - don't ask me where.

I'm off to an adventure! I know this is sudden, but I finally found something I wanted to do, but I can't tell anyone where I'm going. Well, not that anyone would believe me anyway.

Don't bother looking for me. You probably won't be able to find me anyway. Anywho, this is my goodbye letter just in case you try to flag me as missing or possibly kidnapped.

Much love (?),

Morgan"

"Aaaaand that's done," Morgan said after finishing up writing his e-mail. It was a short thing but necessary. He was finally leaving everything behind to enter a brand new world - all that's left was to send the e-mail and he was off for adventure!

He typed all the recipients, of which he chuckled as there were only a few. Namely, his mom, dad, and childhood friend. He didn't have a lot of people in his life as he believed that few people were interesting enough to develop anything more than acquaintanceship in the first place - perhaps an arrogant approach to it but alas, can't save spoiled milk.

"Okay, time to send the e-mail...

done."

He did a last-minute check of everything he was bringing. Bag, check. Survival knife, check. Water flask, check. Everything else he thought he needed as per Survival in the Wilderness 01, check!

"Well then, time to leave this dump and embrace the new world filled with magic," he said enthusiastically, practically vibrating with excitement.

He walked over to the middle of the flat and approached an old-looking door, one that wouldn't be out of place in an ancient castle perhaps. He had tried opening it once but it only ever budged just enough to take a peek. While he didn't see anything in particular, he knew what he felt.

He had felt magic. Or well, the mana anyway. He had always been a sensitive boy growing up - not in the emotional kind though that was to be expected as a naive child. No, he was sensitive in the sense that he could always feel things that people didn't. Not always but often enough to tell. He knew whatever it was, it was always fleeting.

That day when the door budged, he knew immediately that that was what he had been chasing after his whole life. 25 whole years and finally he knew what everyone else had deemed to mock him for.

"Doesn't matter now does it?" he said somewhat mockingly.

Sigh

"Let's go, Morgan, a whole new life awaits you," he whispered, psyching himself up.

And that was when he was pushed from behind. All he could hear before sound cut-off was, "Damn kid took too long. Who the hell-" and then all was black.
