JoJo Parrallel Part 1: Joshua Star
End of School, Start of Adventure

End of School, Start of Adventure

What would you do if you had a superpower? Joshua Star sat in class on the last day of his senior year of high school. His AP History teacher -- Mr. Pundt -- had decided to make this class a fun one to celebrate the last class they would attend in high school. That's easy thought Joshua Star. I'd fight all the criminals in Fall Grotto and end the crime wave. The group he was assigned to discuss with looked at him.

"So," said a male student wearing a flannel windbreaker "What would you do, Jostar? You'd use it to get back at people, right?" "That is so immature, Anus! Beating people up would get you arrested or worse." said a dark-skinned girl with a green tank top across the table. "You just called me Anus instead of Angus, Kaya. How am I the immature one here?" Joshua piped up, stopping the argument before it escalated "Y'know, I'd use superpowers to stop the crime wave." The two looked at him. "Like a comic book hero?" Said Angus. "No, more like a vigilante." Kaya raised an eyebrow "Isn't that like a superhero but edgier?" Joshua waved, as if deflecting the question before speaking. "What would you do with superpowers, Kaya?" "I don't know, I would probably try to ignore them... Fighting crime or getting revenge isn't something I would want a part of."

Angus opened his mouth to make fun of her, but the bell interrupted him. "All right everyone." Said Mr. Pundt, "I hope you all find great success, whatever you choose to do. It's been an honor teaching you all. Goodbye, and be safe, you all know there's a crime wave going on. Be sure to travel in groups of two or more." He continues on, getting more emotional as students come up and shake his hand or even hug the portly man before leaving. Joshua shakes his hand and exits with Kaya and Angus. "I’m going home. Maybe we can hang out sometime? This is our last summer.” “Yeah, we’d love to!” they respond nearly in sync. With a wave, Joshua walked away, the sound of them starting a new argument fading away.

This is a story about Joshua Star, also known as “Jostar.” Joshua is a newly graduated 18 year old with a unique power called a Stand. Stands are the physical representation of one’s fighting spirit, and come in any shape and size. In addition to using your stand to fight physically, all stands have an ability that can range from playing a sound in someone’s head repeatedly, to manipulating time itself. Joshua believes that he was given his ability in order to save his town from the threatening shadow of crime.

From the school, Joshua headed west, towards his house. Instead of turning left on Bond street, though, he kept straight and headed towards an abandoned furniture factory. “Finally.” He said after entering the basement through a bulkhead. “Time to practice. HOOTSFORCE!” Joshua shouted, and immediately a dragon appeared on his back. It was a dark maroon, closer to black than red. It spread its large, plum colored wings and rested its two claws on Joshua’s shoulders. When it let its wings droop, it resembled a velvet cape. If you ignored the scales, spines, and the draconic head resting on Joshua’s right shoulder of course. “I just realised… how was Angus wearing that flannel? It’s June!” Joshua said to the air. The dragon, which was HOOTSFORCE, looked at him and licked an eye. “Nevermind, it’s time to practise using my ability.” He picked up a nearby chair leg and held it in front of him. When he let go, the chair leg flew forward and crashed into a pyramid of buckets, a jet of flame trailing behind. “My aim is definitely getting better.” Joshua closed his eyes and thought about his stand. “HOOTSFORCE… the ability to attach rockets to anything I touch… This is how I will save my city from this crime wave.”

Fall Grotto. A city in Rhode Island where our hero lives. It is very far inland, but the ocean is still close enough to put salt in the air. The population is not large, only just enough to make it a city and not a town. There are many popular coffee shops here, and some specialize in coffee flavored milk, a staple drink in Rhode Island. Though there are many wooded areas for children to explore, they have been rendered unsafe due to the recent crime wave.

After practicing more, Joshua checked the time on his phone “Shit!” he exclaimed “Gotta get home before I worry Dad to death!” While racing home, he passed by an alleyway that was more occupied than it had any right to be. Unfortunately, he did not notice the struggle in the darkness. “Get away from me!” Kaya panicked as two large men in cough masks blocked her only exits. “Just give us all ya got, and we won't lay a finger on ya, promise.” one man sneered. This man had a cat face design on his black cloth facemask. “Yeah, hand over the val- the vulab- gimme your shit!” this came from the other man, who had a white mask that said “I’ve been day drinking” but he was wearing it upside down. Kaya gritted her teeth.

“I guess I’ll have to use it... 24 carat magic…” An obsidian black, humanoid figure appeared in front of her. It had sparkling gold embellishments and jewelry covering its arms and upper body, and a gold skirt with a slit up one side. The head was the same smooth obsidian with gold eyes and lipstick, and long, curly, golden hair falling to the small of its back. The only color besides obsidian and gold was a large turquoise gem in the center of its collarbone.”Hello, Kaya! Been a while, hasn’t it? Do you need me? Of course you do, I am your ability after all, ohoho!~” Kaya ignored the figure and spoke. “Use your ability on these two men.” Kaya commanded her Stand, 24 carat magic. The stand sighed “Aye-aye, captain.” the thugs were confused “Who do ya think yer talking to over there? We’re muggin’ you for chrissake!” said the black masked thug “yeah, stop talking!” agreed the white masked thug as they both drew nearer. “I don’t think sooo~” Kaya’s stand stood between the two men and booped them on the nose. Immediately they turned around and started walking in the other direction. “Hey!” one cried out. “Why are ya walking away, Craig ya bastard!” The other replied “Nuh uh, you’re the one walking away, Doug!” in the confusion, Kaya ran home, her mood soured.

A/N: So... good first chapter? I know there's no Angus focus but don't worry, he'll get his spotlight!
